Got them for 6k, haven't had the chance to test them yet, only ran about 20km. Will post a review in a few days.Originally posted by yashasvi View PostPlease share some information regarding the tyres, price, small performance review, any other observation.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Why does rear axle nut require so much of torque, 100 kg.m to be precise?
I adjusted the chain slack myself and measured the markings exactly in millimeters. As you all may know, it was a tedious process because the chain keeps getting tighter after tightening the axle nut.
I don't have a torque wrench so made some assumptions on how much body weight to put on the spanner. But I soon found out that rear wheel gets harder to spin as soon as you tighten the axle nut lightly. Based on that, I tightened it with medium force.
Then took it to the SVC and requested the friendly mechanic to re-adjust it with a torque wrench. By that time, the axle nut had become loose and he had to turn it a lot to finally arrive at 1000 kg.cm torque figure.
But that definitely tightens the rear wheel a lot, it doesn't spins more than 1 revolution freely by hand. IS THIS OKAY? ( In comparison it was making 2-3 revs by hand with fully opened axle nut).

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
It only require 9.0 to 11.0 kgm of torque 1 kg m is 9.5 something NM. For unit in cm 1000 seems ok. As for revolutions feeling tight then it could be a over tight chain slack or stuck brake pads. Free hand rotations are not as smooth in Motorcycles now days as it use to be, another factor is that one of the brake pads (inner) on the disc runs in little contact and it is ok.Originally posted by arya809 View PostWhy does rear axle nut require so much of torque, 100 kg.m to be precise?

If it the bolt is getting lose frequently then do get the Axel rod and bolt threads inspected. While aligning the chain adjuster on the rh side hold it in place by hand while tightening the axel so that it remains at its place.
Compare the free hand rotations of wheel with another Dominar sadly i can't do this as i no longer owns a Dominar but yes it was tight same in my current Motorcycle.
Reference pic is for the workshop manual (Spanish)

Thanks for the reply.
I already know about the brake pads making the wheel harder to rotate freely. Kindly read my last lines, I specifically wrote that the rear wheel was rotating quite freely just BEFORE tightening the axle nut. Everything else was constant like brake pads and chain slack. I had meticulously measured the chain slack and kept it at 2.5 cms just before tightening the axle nut.
So clearly, a tighter axle nut grips the wheel bearings (or something like that) making it harder to spin, I am asking because it appears that this STEALS the power at wheel by making it harder to spin?

Don't worry it won't steal any power from the rear wheel it is like this on other Dominars too and on my Interceptor also.Originally posted by arya809 View PostIjs

As long as there is no abnormal noise coming from wheel bearing all is good and the mechanic used the correct torque while tightening it. If you spot and side to side movement then check swingarm adjustment marks and make sure that the cush rubber bushes are properly seated on the hub.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey Guys,
Need some info. Done with all my free service also. Will be coming back to Bangalore tomorrow. Thought of getting the bike serviced there and bring it back to Udupi (my hometown)
This place doesn't have any good service centers, so thought of getting it serviced in Blore before getting it here. Apart from the Bajaj Showroom service centers (kasturba road ), which other known service center can I get it serviced at. Heard a lot about Art of Motorcycle. Are they good with Dominors?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
You should absolutely try out Highlander, HSR Layout or the Mottard House, Horamavu. Highly rated places as per the Dominar club blore. But you'll need to call in advance and check if they have slots for servicing and if liquids such as oil etc are in stock (your preferred brand).Originally posted by super_fatman View PostHey Guys,

Also, most of the services are pretty much straight forward, unless you have any specific issues you'd like them to fix..Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Trying to get my m'cycle out of lockdown mode but facing an issue.
Switched on and fuel pump did prime at the usual speed, cranked starter 2 times and it jumped to life. As it was warming up, the bike stalled and then refused to start again. I'm guessing it pulled some of the older fuel from the tank.
This was followed by the electricals cutting off every time I hit the starter switch and then fuel pump primes as if I've just toggled the engine kill switch. Every time it cuts off, I can hear a single click sound under the seat.

Looks like your battery's dead. Happens when you leave the bike for a long duration. Just try to jumpstart the bike in second gear. Electricals get cut off everytime you try to start is due to the fact that the starter requires 12v to start the bike and due to the battery being low, its not able to get enough power and all the electricals are getting shut.Originally posted by 404 View PostTrying to get my m'cycle out of lockdown mode but facing an issue.

Just try to jumpstart the bike in second gear or if you know how, they remove the battery and get it charged. If you plan on keeping the bike untouched for long durations say a month, then remove the battery terminals and the battery would get discharged slowly then.

Check your battery that might have drained out after the bike has been kept idle for too long.Originally posted by 404 View PostTrying to get my m'cycle out of lockdown mode but facing an issue.

Hi xhbhpians,
I have d400 ug19 purchased aug 19.
I want to know about when should be
1. Air filter changed ?
2. Spark plugs cleaned ?
3. Throttle body cleaned ?
As my running is very less bike has clocked around 5600 kms on odo. All the riding is in urban conditions and paved roads no off roading means less dirty conditions.
Last service or third free service was done on around 3800 kms oil and oil filter were changed. Now according to bajaj app service is due in first half of dec.
And any reviews regrding fuel additive like Stp octane booster or liqui moly. I usually fill up premi2 fuel extra premium or speed only but i am not satisfied with refinement still feel some vibrations and harshness in engine. Does these additives do their job as mentioned in reviews.
TIA.

Additives won't make an engine smooth. Continue to use premium fuel if you prefer since they have additives already. Otherwise, it's the same exact fuel with extra marketing to make more money out of a regulated product.Originally posted by J_ARTLY View PostHi xhbhpians,

Any smoothness you feel on adding additives is mostly inside your head. I feel my bike runs smoother on regular petrol.
