Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
P1, yes this much is ok in first gear without touching the throttle. But big question is what do you do with bike on paddock and Engine spinning on first gear, do you work on chain like this if yeas then stop doing it so many thumbs and fingers have already been lost to hungry chain on running Engine. If you don't use this to clean the chain then ok.Originally posted by jayant.jayant View Post

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I saw the rpm variation on the console at the service centre during the 3rd free service. I Will surely be careful if doing chain cleaning at home. Thank you.Originally posted by Ijs View PostP1, yes this much is ok in first gear without touching the throttle. On the topic of chain adjustment:
Last week I was getting constant squeaking noise from the rear left section. I couldn't find out the source on my own, went to SVC, the mechanic took a test ride and told me that chain is too dry & loose. He sprayed it and tightened it. I didn't verify the tightness but the sound was gone. Today the squeaking sound started but was very faint. So I checked the chain SLACK casually and it was TOO TIGHT! Not even 2 mm slack. Bajaj mechanics are complete noobs, I won't trust them with a single thing from now on.
Meanwhile, can you guess the source of squeaking? It presents only under acceleration, irrespective of speed and gearing. Someone had mentioned on this thread that their front sprocket had a rubber lining dislodged and rubbing against chain, I checked the front sprocket, that's not the case.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Sprocket rubber lining or seal doesn't get lose it is the slider which got dislodged due to slapping chain and causes all the damage, make sure you have the slider lock on. For the noise open the front sprokect cover and clean the muck deposit around it using a cloth over a screwdriver.Originally posted by arya809 View PostOn the topic of chain adjustment:

For the tight chain you can adjust the slack should be between 20 to 30mm , make sure to measure it with wheel on ground or bike on the paddock stand(swingarm should bear the weight of the motorcycle) keep it straight as possible.

I cleaned the muck around the front sprocket, there was a lot of it. Though I don't understand how exactly is that the reason for squeaking?
Kindly look at the pics, I am not sure whether the slider is loose or not. But you can definitely see the scratches/marks on the spacer where the chain is rubbing on it, in the 2nd pic.
This is the top spacer, looks too close to the chain, I guess the chain constantly rubs on it. There is around 4-5 mm gap between it and the swingarm, it's not evident from the pic due to the angle.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Slider is ok and is not lose , to measure chain slack you have to use a ruler or a scale and u need to measure it from the bottom at the mid point of the chain. Top part would rest or touch the slider and it is ok slider is there to prevent the chain to kiss the swingarm. Here is the link of video on chain slack I made on Interceptor it would give you the idea the process is same. You can also search for Dominar specific video Dipen has made one if I remember correctly.Originally posted by arya809 View PostIjs

1) Check the chain adjusters on LH and RH, that both are aligned exactly at the same marking point, and wheel is perfectly straight when seen from eye level " || ", if the adjuster are of not aligned perfectly your wheel will run at an offset angle like this " \\ " or " // " and create the squeaking.
2) Change the wheel rubber damper(No.17 Part number in the below pic), if they are worn out are cracked the same thing could also bet the culprit for the sound.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
These full tank nos are unbelievable
even if you considered using the full 13ltr capacity for 360kms, that's about 27kmpl.. I generally get only about 23-25 with mostly city riding. Range of 395+ is outstanding.. What speeds do you generally ride at?

2. Fuel Tank range - From past 4 , full tank , my km range is not going above 350 - 360 Kms. Earlier on full tank I was getting a Range between 395km to 411km. What could be the issue.
Thanks

I normally ride between the speeds of 65 - 75 kmph . My trips are short about 12- 15 km one way and 50 km 2 way trip sometimes.Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostThese full tank nos are unbelievable

My fuel efficiency also varies from 27kmpl to 29.5 kmpl depending in city (full tank to full tank)
But, the range not crossing 350 - 360 km has been happening recently from past 5 full tanks including twice after 3rd free service.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hmmm.. Very interesting speeds for a 400cc bike
On a serious note, I have never got those mileage no's and hence can't comment, but most of the BGL riders get anywhere between 25-30 kmpl of fuel, so that's a range of around 325kms+ for a 13ltr tank.Originally posted by jayant.jayant View PostI normally ride between the speeds of 65 - 75 kmph . yes. Haven't been much on good national highway stretches. Max I could touch is 109 kmph.
Thanks for helping me in clearing my doubt about the range.

With a controlled right hand i use to do 350 kms on 10 little bit more bit less (300kms is easy) , with fast riding it drops to 280kms. Within city it use to give constant 24.8kmpl on highway the worst was 26kmpl where i was riding very fast.Originally posted by jayant.jayant View Post

Staying till 120kph with a modulating throttle and gradual acceleration would give best mileage.
Mine was first lot 2017 one of the very first delivered in Delhi.

Yes ofcourse. You should only ride your bike based on your comfort levels... Not based on the others'
Safe riding!Originally posted by jayant.jayant View Post
