Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Finally after 2+ years of waiting, saving, then losing those savings to unexpected expenses and again saving up, Finally I've bought her home.
I initially was planning to buy it new, but as Bajaj kept raising the prices, My budget couldn't keep up. So I was on the lookout for a sparingly used bike, 2018 or later model. Searched a lot in Pune but sellers didn't really understand depreciation so it was either too costly or too used or a 2019 model or higher. Found one on Olx in Mumbai, decided the same day to go visit and check it out. Hopped on my first love my 2009 Pulsar 150, my companion and trusted steed for 10+ years, sadly to see her own replacement. Everything was fixed and NOC was done in 2 days. Next weekend was fixed for pickup and then Lockdown struck !!

Waited agonizingly for 2+ months, hoping that lockdown is going to open this weekend, next weekend but no luck. Finally decided to try a parcel service since I couldn't wait anymore and luckily the seller (A really cool dude named Jones
) worked with some logistics vendor who shipped it for half the rate of other commercial courier services. And boom, 2 days later I have her

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Now I'm going to go through the entire thread this weekend to understand everything there is to know about her
I've been tracking this thread since it's inception but sadly didn't keep up as purchase plans kept getting postponed again and again.

Can you please explain how did you install the number plate there? Which bracket to use? And did you drill custom holes in the headlight assembly for that number plate bracket?
OTHER OWNERS:
1. I searched online for Dominar windshield visor but all of them are long, I understand the purpose is to prevent wind blast. But I rarely go on highway rides so I just need a windshield visor for looks, I am looking for a visor JUST 3 INCHES longer than the stock one. Where can I find one?
2. Hand/knuckle guards: Those available on Amazon and flipkart are too cheap and useless. Somebody suggested buying it KTM spare parts for better quality and fitting. Will they sell it easily? Last time I asked them to sell me the Duke's adjustable clutch lever but they declined!

I got KTM knuckle guards from Bajaj workshop near my place. There both Bajaj & KTM spares are sold together, and I didn't have any problem in purchasing them.Originally posted by arya809 View Post2. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Bajaj showroom was so eager to sell me the motorcycle, they didn't check it thoroughly before delivery. Tyre pressure was too low, few bolts were missing, right side leg guard was replaced (maybe they damaged it), there's a scratch on the silencer body, not the silencer cover.
Now I see there's another screw/bolt missing under the engine belly. Can somebody tell me what was supposed to be fixed here?

Do not worry, that bolt is not missing, it is the design by defaultOriginally posted by arya809 View PostBajaj showroom was so eager to sell me the motorcycle, they didn't check it thoroughly before delivery. Definitely not normal. What you can do is clean the affected area with a brush and kerosene and clean the affected areas thoroughly, and observe it for a while. If it repeats again, you are entitled for warranty procedures.Originally posted by _kamikaze_ View PostGuys, I'm seeing rusting in various parts of the bike.Is any of this normal and expected or do I need to contact the service center about this ?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
It's been a year since I got my bike now, i have done about 13k km I was informed that my chain sprocket is not in good condition and would have to replace it, not very satisfied with the tyres either the slightest sand on the streets make me super uneasy especially at lower speeds, pleas advice if I actually need to replace my sprocket and if I should go after Market for the same.
I was looking at rolon brass sprocket or the lluvia touring kit. Please advice which would be a better fit.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
The stock chain kit is made by Rolon too. Brass plated chains offer bling and comparatively slightly improved life, but that doesn't mean they are not cared for. They require the same amount of lubrication and cleaning as the stock. Regarding the Illuvia, it all comes down to your personal preference. The Illuvia is a 47 tooth sprocket compared to 45 on the stock. I would suggest you stick to stock for better top speed. If you want more in gear acceleration, you can choose the Illuvia sprocket. But it all comes down to preference.Originally posted by Ark2719 View PostIt's been a year since I got my bike now, i have done about 13k km I was informed that my chain sprocket is not in good condition and would have to replace it, not very satisfied with the tyres either the slightest sand on the streets make me super uneasy especially at lower speeds, pleas advice if I actually need to replace my sprocket and if I should go after Market for the same.

Regarding tire life, it's feel and factor that lets the rider know when to replace the tires. You can inspect your tire and if it's worn accordingly it's time to replace.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Thanks for the reply @VJ I was afraid of that
No I haven't washed it at all since I bought it except for the wash done during 3rd service. Bike is just over 1 year old, even if we do wash it daily, it shouldn't start rusting so soon. My 10 year old P150 still doesn't show this level of rust anywhere.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Its better to spray the rusted parts with WD40. It will prevent future rusting. Its better to spray and leave overnight. And be cautious vwhile spraying. Spray only when bike is cool or at room temperature.
I usually wash my bike every sunday but no rust signs till date. After washing i displace water.
After rain ride please spray wash ur bike with simple plain tap water as it cleans the acidic or chemical filled water from streets and prevent frequent rusting.
