    Hi Iceman,

Acceleration - No 2 ways to say it, but compared to NS, its brutal. Overtakes are easier in the city than they were with the NS and are relatively smoother. No jerkiness when you open the tap. It moves ahead as if with a purpose. The FI really makes the process seamless. There is a lot of punch in the higher gears too (advantage of the massive torque). I have witnessed that in the 5th gear too, doing as low as 55, opening the throttle brings decent acceleration (of course I dont recommend doing 55 in 5th, but for the sake of testing the acceleration I have done it a few times) with a millisecond of delay. Its nothing that spoils the fun though.

Manoeuvrability - As good as the NS, once you get used to the weight. In fact i feel I can take u - turns quicker and with more confidence than with the NS. This bike holds its line better on long sweeping turns too. The NS felt like a rogue switchblade, this feels like a scalpel. The wide handlebars feel more connected than the clip ons and this feedback from the handle allows me to use my body weight to turn the bike better. There was a learning curve to this in the initial few weeks, but it feels very natural and comfortable now.

Riding in city - As compared to NS, it does heat up in bumper to bumper and though people say its negligible, in the off chance that you are wearing shorts/bermudas, your calves will feel the heat. The clutch is smoother and since I use engine braking to slow down a lot, the slipper clutch really adds to the comfort factor when downshifting quickly. Frankly I had felt that its not of much use in city riding but it does come into play and makes the downshift transition smoother and drama free. Gears are unfortunately the bane of otherwise a bountiful package. They are rough and clunky. I remember the NS was much smoother even in the break in period and I think Bajaj has fumbled in this regard. The first 3 gears seem very short and ideal for 70% of the traffic situations. I mostly like the 4th one best since it gives the best of all worlds and is perfect for the speed bracket I travel in. 5th and 6th seem appropriate for the highways.

Smoothness - The NS was smoother! I have not been able to wrap my head around this either, but there is no point lying to myself. After the switch to FS oil the NS ran much smoother than the Dominar is currently running and that is a fact I have to live with now. That being said, the test ride bike which had more than 5000 kms on it, was smoother than the NS and so I have my fingers crossed for a brighter (smoother) future!

Mileage - Not to obsess about it, but previous to 1st service I was getting about 25-26 KMPL, which was ok and after the service I got 28-30 KMPL, which is the more than one should expect in 100% city riding. My NS with wide spec tyres used to give me 35-40 KMPL.

Suspension - Doesnt seem to exist! Yes thats right, its excellent for quick directional changes but i can feel every bump on the road. Its not plush and I also didnt get it loosened in the first service. I should have done that. But in this regard my experience is the same as the NS.

VFM - Better than the NS (you probably knew this already).

Special Mention - ABS - this thing is a boon. I recently (and idiotically) was going faster than I should have on a beautiful stretch of road with my wife as pillion and moments before hitting it, I realized that a new speed breaker had cropped up (of course it wasnt painted). From more than 65 kmph i shed the right amount of speed in a matter of moments, but I admit had I not had the safety net of the ABS i would have to take that speed breaker at a frighteningly high speed.

    Hope this helps.

        Hi Aditya,

Not to downplay the importance of riding gears, but I think you will also agree that in some situations, no amount of gears will save you. Yes they may absorb a large amount of impact which may otherwise prove to be fatal but honestly, in city riding apart from Helmet and maybe gloves, most of the riders (myself included) dont opt for riding jackets, and knee pads. Biggest reason being the summer heat and the inconvenience. i know I will face a lot of backlash for this post, but this is my perception.

Also if the data provided is indeed correct, the sheer momentum of the Hyosung made it a lethal weapon. A bike probably weighing in the vicinity of 160 kgs along with 2 riders lets say average combined weight of 120 kgs moving at over 100 kmph. The sheer momentum is like hitting a wall, even if you are doing 40. I am no expert but a fatality would be highly probable even with good amount of riding gears.

The above is only based on what I have read here and I sympathise with everyone involved in this accident. Though I dont need to, I will urge everyone to wear proper gear, to at least mitigate small crashes. For the major ones, i feel its unfortunately a coin toss.

A good quality helmet and straps locked, he might have survived with some severe fractures and wounds.

Just back from the funeral of the young fellow who lost all, he was the younger brother of fellow dominar owner. Mood is really sad here. As per eyewitness account he was wearing guards and helmet but the helmet came of due to impact , may be possible that it wasn't strapped . Both riders were thrown in the air the worst hit was the dominar as the inertia was on hyosung side, the hyosung rider was way above 100kmph. The dominar rider hitt a tree and bear the impact on head and went into shock. Others sitting on the dhaba took them to Rockland hospital but he had very weak pulse.
Both hyosung rider and pillion are also critical. The rider is infamous for riding highspeed.

The helmet was strapped. I was one of the guys standing where the accident happened and the helmet flew and landed very close to where we were standing. It is a bit strange as to how the helmet came of while being strapped. I could see the straps still on, on the lying helmet. I could see knee guards also lying on the road. The impact was huge, with a 2 up big bike coming straight at you head on.

It is really sad that this kid and his family had to pay the ultimate price of no mistake of theirs. Really Really sad. We all were in a shock and going back home after seeing it was very tough.

I really wish God gives his family strength to take this lose.

                      RIP

Helmet must be 1 or 2 size loose then. As most helmets available in market are in l size , and wearing a proper size helmet is really important. I have small size head and it took me 3 days to find size s helmet all other sizes are loose and moves. Also most riders wear l size or xl size as they r comfortable ignoring that snugg fit is more important than comfort fit, also his brother told us that he wanted to buy new helmet and jacket as the helmet is noisy.

How to know if a helmet is the perfect size for you?
                            >>It must be snug fit.

                            How much fit?
                            >>Fit enough so that you aren't able to open and close your mouth properly .

After few days, the inner padding will take the shape of your head, and will become comfortable.

The strap must be of Double D ring, its a must!

Most of you guys might know this, am aiming at newbies.

                            Enjoy every ride.

                            Ride safe all..
                            Cheers.

rachitkdogra - bro did the accident happen on a curve? Or while overtaking? I cannot think of another scenario where such an accident could have happened.

Nahi bhai. Straight piece of road. The hyosong guy was in speed and I think an Activa came joined his lane from side in front of him.
I think to avoid him, he went in the opposite lane to overtake him where the Dominor was coiming and hit the Dominor head on.
