Ijs bhai...just by looking riding gears now a day police think that rider is doing stunt. Most cops dont know why knee guards elbow guards etc. I have faced numerous silly questions from cops just wearing knee guard. "Stunt karte ho ye sab pehan ke..band kar dunga"

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
RIP. It may be the fault of Activa guy to got into the road and causing the accident. But it was duty of the bigger bikes to adhere to speed limit in narrow city streets. And head on collision is not very difficult to avoid in a motorcycle, unless they were playing the game of chicken. And Dominar guy flew forward means even he was at a higher speed.
I like this kind of 3 box set up. But can the side bags be easily removed and kept at home on weekdays, and installed easily on weekends? Better if that box removing and attaching can be done without the help of spanners. It is difficult to park the motorcycle with those side boxes in city commute. Even fairings of sports bikes gets scratched in parking, which is why I prefer naked bikes.Originally posted by shrey1992 View Post

Looks is the only thing that's keeping me away from dominar.. with this design I'll definitely love to have one but with slight increase in ground clearanceOriginally posted by smutall;1286546,

smutall - dude, it happened in a split second. Unless the Dominar guy knew in advance the Hysosung was going to swerve into him, there is no way he could have avoided the accident.
As to the accident mechanics, unless the family releases the GoPro video, we will never know for sure what speeds the Dominar was doing.

Bhai there wer many experienced riders those who have seen this, all claim that hyosung was well above 100 and dominar guy was strolling slowly.Originally posted by leech View Postsmutall - dude, it happened in a split second. This. Common cause of accidents.Originally posted by IamAditya View Post
Reason no. 1 : Biker going on side of road. The car cannot overtake him even if he goes on the side, due to incoming vehicles. So the car trails him, so close, that eventually both vehicles will clash.
Remedy : For bikes, hog the middle of the road, so that any large vehicle cannot sneak in your blind spot and try to go parallel to you. If the car is a fast driver, then he will honk you, and then only you give him space to make a clean overtake.
It's better to keep a safe distance between vehicles, either accelerate and evade them, or look in the mirror, anticipate their actions, and let them pass.
Now I'm not blaming the bike guy, I'm just finding out ways to stay alive.Last edited by leech; 04-04-2017, 02:45 PM.

Do not stunt on public roads (i.e. don't put innocent lives at risk) And if you see someone doing it, avoid going in to their 'territory' and call the cops if you think they are involved in dangerous/high speed stunts.Originally posted by leech View PostI would like to learn how to avoid such accidents in the future.
And if you are stunting, arrange appropriate safety measures to minimize fatalities due to injuries.
But hey.. we are in a country where safety is not the number 1 priority for a lot of people! Most of us only react to incidents and not proactively involved in preventing them.Last edited by s1d; 04-04-2017, 02:50 PM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Issue is not at all with the biker. It's the car guys fault totally.. the car guy should have at least downshifted and overtook the bike earlier or should have braked and let pass the bus..Originally posted by leech View PostThis. Common cause of accidents.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
It is important to always keep an eye on the rear view mirrors on highways and when you notice some nut tailgating you, just slow down & let them pass. Not every car driver honks, some just zip/fly by (on 'fast' cars like the scorpio, honda city etc..) startling you. If they honked it would be better to alert a two wheeler rider. Others on fully loaded less powerful cars like indica's, alto's etc.. keep trying to overtake but the car doesn't have enough oomph to pull by resulting in such accidents.Originally posted by leech View PostThis. Do not hog the middle of the road, keep left (as this rider did with a safe margin from the edge of the road) even on a 8 lane highway. Use the right or middle lanes to overtake (and overtake from the right)

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Very valid point. One of the most important reason of small car or bike accident during overtaking- "not enough power to overcome situation in less time" ...people dont understand this and push their vehicles more than their limits.Originally posted by s1d View PostOthers on fully loaded less powerful cars like indica's, alto's etc.. keep trying to overtake but the car doesn't have enough oomph to pull by resulting in such accidents.

Car guy is totally at fault, first fault, overtaking in a no overtaking zone.Originally posted by abhiiceman View PostIssue is not at all with the biker. Second, the car guy didn't brake, he just rammed into the bike guy once he saw the bus.
Now, this scenario happened to me a lot of times. The first time this happened, I swerved left, and got away with a slight hit, not hard enough to lose control.
After that incident, I always look in the mirror, if I find a car too close to me, I either give him way to pass, or I accelerate and put some distance between us. I never allow another vehicle, car or bike, to stay parallel to me. Even in a four lane highway. In moderate and heavy traffic, it's unavoidable, but people are more aware of surrounding vehicles then.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
s1d - you keep left, this is what happens. You get rammed by some idiot not following the rules. They try to overtake, find out they can't, then they try to squeeze in the lane.
Notice the bike which was taking the video. He was going in the the middle of the lane, blocking any parallel manoeuvre, so the car overtook him only when there was enough space.
Now if you watch the video carefully, at the moment of impact, the Dominar was in the middle of the road!
That's right. He couldn't stick left, he drifted, unknowingly, to the middle of the road, where the car was trying to squeeze in to avoid the bus. This the is the main reason why sticking left doesn't work. Due to obstructions on the road, or due to fatigue or body movements, sticking to the left for long periods of time isn't possible.Last edited by leech; 04-04-2017, 03:18 PM.
