    .
    1. What do I need to look out in the discs - abrasion marks, leaks, bends or anything more?
    2. I might not be able to get a test ride on different bikes but surely get a chance to crank engine.
    3. What about the tank? What is that I need to look out for?
    4. Is there any way to know if it's not a test ride bike?
    5. Is there anything about the tyres?

Check disk for any bends or uneven surface,
I rode three diff bikes before selecting mine in Jan here in delhi.
Inside the tank look for any paint or surface chip or any thing suspected,
No way to tell if it is test bike or not but compare tyres of different bike to look for freshness. Tyres would tell u if the bike is ridden a lot or not.
Also do chek the the coolant level should be in middle, and oil leaks near gear lever and on right side bottom at the oil filter side.
Check the front shocks for any oil leaks.

Many of the Dominar owners have seen the fuel gauge issue (Does not show correct reading, have to switch off and on again). Also, many suggested an ECU update to solve this issue.

My point(maybe I am wrong but from my experience):

The fuel gauge reading is not an input to ECU....Reason being, there is no need of fuel reading as there is no display of KM left/mileage being shown in the cluster like in Cars.(KTM ECU has this as input, the cluster shows mileage)

The Fuel gauge reading which is an analog voltage (Resistance change in the gauge) is directly fed to the cluster. Its the cluster that shows the number of bar depending on the voltage reading.

When we move the bike, the reading on the fuel gauge varies as the fuel goes up and down, so the voltage goes up and down very fast. To tackle this, they have a capacitor at the cluster that will average the voltage being received and this capacitor will discharge or charge very slowly, so you don't see the bars going up and down very fast if you move the bike.

        My point on this issue...
        1) Either the capacitor is faulty
        2) The value of the capacitor is very high that it is not discharging as the voltage drops. Very high value could take long time to discharge. So, when we switch off the bike the voltage becomes zero and when we switch on we see the correct value.
        3) The cluster itself is faulty for the fuel reading.

Point 1 and 2 can be solved our self but not point 3 (Point 3 needs cluster replacement).

I can verify the point 1 and 2 once I open the fuel tank and have a look at the fuel gauge and read the reading. Then I have to see if the cluster is showing the same reading if I change the value on the fuel gauge.

Note: I maybe wrong in the above statement.

This has been asked many times. The odo will show 6 to 8 kms. That's usual, don't panic. Check the tank to side panel gap. Check door oil leak on front shock ab, also near/under oil filter cover. Leave the bike on, check if fan turns on. Brake levers should be hard. Rev to check for vibrations in panel and side mirrors. You will feel vibes on the tank when you rev, that's ok. Bike should start in first shot. Check all lights. Ask for toolkit, first aid kit. Check if chain adjustment is set to same notches on both sides. Also coolant and oil levels. Both might be to minimum level. See if you can get them to top up. Check if Horn sound is sharp. Check if bike turns off when side stand is out and you put it in gear. Most importantly, wait 30 seconds after start, bike rev should drop to 1500 and should stay there with uniform firing. Compare idling with other bikes after 30 seconds. Pick one that sounds sweet and smooth. Happy hunting.

Thanks ljs. Yes, the no helmet was just a test round. I ride in gear.
For the steps : I removed front seat, disconnected battery for 20 min, then reconnected and let it idle for a few min. It displayed jp18 immediately after first poeer on, then normal dismay with the clock reset to 12:00.
So will share but anyways will recommend others to do reset only after proper break in of 2500 kms.
              Happy riding.

                  Hi Guys,

Any one completed the second service of Dominar (more than 6000 kms). I have clocked 3000km so far and this vibration (after 4k rpm) is making me dislike the bike.
will there will be any change in the vibration after the second service ? I know it's not that deal breaker. But a premiuim bike with such a big cc bike, can I expect a vibe free engine atleast till 5k rpm
                  Some one please do reply..

Bajaj claimed mileage is 35 kmpl, how much is it in real? City and highway?

It's unlikely that after any service the vibrations will magically dissappear. May be it will be dampened a marginal bit. No run away from vibes.

Go for SMK twister helmet. Its really good in terms of high speed stability. Wind noise is very less and only above 110 or 120 kmph you will observe some humming noises that's all.
Best thing is it comes with pinlock 30 antifog visor pre-installed and believe me its really helps a lot as I am telling this from personal experience.
                        Price is around 4300rs.
I have tried the MT and LS2 also but it has a better fitting and have a much wider viewing area.
                        And looks really really awesome..

Vibes would reduce with more services but will not disappear. Brother for better refinement from big capacity engine we needs to have more than one cylinder.
Someone here have got his bike's 3 bolts which holds the engine to the chassis tightened and said there is improvement in vibes. Dont be dishearten with vibe these are very minimal, and according to a duke390 owner D400 is super refined.
                          Even honda has vibes .

                              Sorry to ask this again,
My dominar is now 4930km in ODO. But the service indicator (for second service )not appeared yet. Is this normal? Manual says it will appear @4450km.
