I dont know why some riders think that Indian roads are safe for riding like rulebook group ride..its all fish market and jungle out there on road in India....you have to adapt accordingly to safeguard yourself. These all riders disciplne stuff applies in western country roads only, not in India.
        This.

That accident could've been avoided pretty easily by the biker even before the car guy had a chance to come parallel to him, if only he kept an eye on the RVM and understood the car guy is another nutjob.

I bet the same rider rides differently in city's traffic than that.

However, since I owned the NS which was also highly inaccurate in the fuel indication department. I know the approx mileage the bike gives and reset the trip meter on each tank top up. So i just keep an eye on the distance travelled to know when I have to fill it up again, rather than looking at the fuel gauge.
          Please report it to Bajaj.

            Hi Freebiker,

Its something I have been used to in my previous bike as well so its not too much of a bother. Secondly my work schedule keeps me really busy so I really dont have the time to visit the service centre. Even my Saturdays are working! hence I am gonna save up my service centre visits for something more crucial. But i appreciate the concern.

Since we are on this topic, has anyone had this issue resolved?

                Hello Everybody!
I am new to this forum. After lurking around for quite sometime going through all the detailed posts and technical information I finally decided to join xbhp!
I recently booked the mighty D400 a few days back and by the end of this month I will finally get to ride with him. (Definitely male , remember!)

BUt ever since the booking was made my friends and colleagues kept bombarding me with negative reviews. While I remain staunch with my choice to bring in the D400 I would be so happy if the fellow xbhpians can help me out with them.

                1. Read in the thread somewhere that servicing the bike is difficult due to the complex arrangement of the mechanicals. Has anyone of you tried servicing it at a service station other than Bajaj or tried servicing it yourselves?

                2. What's the best engine oil for the D400?

                3. Does the AHO function mean lesser battery life?

                4. I wish to get additional LED lights installed on my bike with parallels from the battery, will it void my warranty?

                5. It was also mentioned that the showroom guys are notorious for using our bikes for test rides for new customers by disconnecting the odo , in fact I was offered a test ride like that myself. What's the best way to prevent that from happening? Any ideas to prevent the odo wires from being tampered with?

                6. The showroom salesperson said that he can get these tyre protection gel. Mainly to ensure that in case of a puncture the gel can fill in the void and seal it. Does anyone have any experience with that?

                7. Also about the paint quality, would you guys recommend any particular brand of wax or spray to keep the paint looking new?

                8. Does the bike cause trouble in morning cold starts?

                9. How do I know if the ECU of the bike is patched with the latest version and if not how can I get one?

I know that's a hell lot of questions but I am a bit worried as I don't want my beast to be subejected to repeated service center visits.
                Can you guys please help?

                Cheers!
                Keep riding!

IT'S NOT TRUE. IT'S PRETTY EASY. I HAVE DONE IT MYSELF. BEING NAKED IT'S EASY. DON'T GET BOTHERED ABOUT IT. IT'S DIFFERENT THEN OLDER GEN MOTORCYCLE S AND SIMILAR WITH NEWER MODELS.

                  2. What's the best engine oil for the D400?
I HAVE USED MOTUL 7100 OIL 10 W 50 GREAD. BAJAJ ALSO ARRANGED DTSI TEN THOUSAND WHICH COMES IN A 1.5 LITER PACKET AND CHEAPER THAN MOTUL. DON'T BE HURTENED BY PRICE AS ITS SPECIALLY MADE BY TOTAL LUBRICANT. HOPE IT WILL BE GOOD ALSO. YET TO TEST IT.
                  3. Does the AHO function mean lesser battery life?
NO. AHO OR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL LOAD IF CALIBRATED PROPERLY WILL NOT AFFECT BATTERY. I HAVE PERSONALLY TESTED UPTO 100 WATT OF EXTRA LOAD WHICH MAINTAINED VOLTAGE AND APMERAGE. PLEASE DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. CHARGING SYSTEM IS TOP NOTCH AND ALMOST MAINTAIN IT LIKE CAR.

                  4. I wish to get additional LED lights installed on my bike with parallels from the battery, will it void my warranty?

IT MAY OR MAY NOT. DEPENDING ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LOCAL DELERSHIP. IF YOU GO BY THE BOOK, IT WILL VOID. ALSO ANY ALTERATIONS WILL DO THE SAME.

                  5. It was also mentioned that the showroom guys are notorious for using our bikes for test rides for new customers by disconnecting the odo , in fact I was offered a test ride like that myself. WE ARE HELPLESS HERE. IT CAN BE EASILY DISCONNECTED. SEE YOUTUBE FOR DETAILS.

                  6. The showroom salesperson said that he can get these tyre protection gel. Mainly to ensure that in case of a puncture the gel can fill in the void and seal it. Does anyone have any experience with that?

OLD TECH NOT A NEW THING. DON'T HAVE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

                  7. Also about the paint quality, would you guys recommend any particular brand of wax or spray to keep the paint looking new?

WASH IT WITH MILD CAR SHAMPOO AND APPLY GOOD WAX BASED POLISH ONCE A WHILE. REQUEST IS DON'T GO OVERBOARD. WAXPOL IS A GOOD COMPANY AND EASY TO USE AND GET.

                  8. Does the bike cause trouble in morning cold starts?

STILL NOW NONE. IT'S FI. I HAVE MY MOTORCYCLE FOR LAST FEW MONTHS.

                  9. How do I know if the ECU of the bike is patched with the latest version and if not how can I get one?

DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA BUT I THINK THERE WAS SOME DISCUSSION ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE ECU. PERSONALLY I DIDN'T DID ANY FLASH OF IT AND RELY ON MY RIGHT WRIST TO CONTROL THE THROTTLE. THERE IS A MINUTE LAG I THIRD GEAR SOME TIMES BETWEEN 3 TO 5 K RPM PROBABLY DUE TO COLD ENGINE. NEED TO SEE MORE. NOTHING TOO MUCH TO WORRY ABOUT. MAY BE A NEW ENGINE. NEED TO FOLLOW UP.

I know that's a hell lot of questions but I am a bit worried as I don't want my beast to be subejected to repeated service center visits.

PS: I can control Pulsar AS150 easily (I guess the seat height is 807mm for AS150).

That's 8 inch driving beam for off road use.

Are the leds so bad that you need 4 small ones. And one big one to see the roads? Afaik the leds are quite bright to lighten up a dark road. No offense but it can be your eyesight too.

I ware specks. My eyesight is slightly altered with minus zero point seven five. Led s are great and really good with conjunction with Headlight but it's for near range as good as the high beam. The auxiliary is hid h3 for long range view at least double the range of the high beam. Purpose are different. Hope it clears your query.
PS. I love bright light s in my vehicles and I know when to use them. With great power comes great responsibility.

But what about people coming from opposite side? Wont it create nuisance and discomfort for them?
And trust me my power is worse than yours and even rtr's ac 35watt was enough. Bright light is good but making it uncomfortable for opposite lane users is different. Remember 'fine line'
