Yesterday i did 1st servicing of my bike at odo reading 510km. They just changed the engine oil, check all the nuts and bolts, washed the bike and then lubed the chain.

The bike is smoother then before but I have noticed some "shrrrrrr" sound coming only while accelerating.
This sound is coming if we are taking the throttle and sound stops if we leave the throttle/acceleration idle and is more noticeable after 3rd gear.

When I reported same to the service centre today...they checked everything and told me there is no problem with anything in bike.

Anyone faced this peculiar sound ?
Hi Piyush, I too have been having this problem since my first service. My observations are:
    a) The sound is coming from left side of the bike.
    b) The sound is heard only in 3rd gear and above. Even then, it is heard only when the throttle is tightened and not when it is left loose.
    c) The sound is more as the gears go up, so much so that even my 7 year old son could identify the abnormality in the 4th gear
    d) The sound is also heard when going down slope even with the engine off
    e) The sound can also be heard if we put the bike on a paddock stand and start the vehicle and put it in gear.
    f) The sound is coming somewhere from the chain area i.e. the front end of the chain
    g) I got it checked from two mechanics in Bajaj, one of them being a Dominar trained mechanic. Both agree that there is a sound but are not able to diagnose or solve the problem
    h) I personally feel that it is due to excess chain slack, but I am not sure

Is the chain slack of Dominar different from others? In this case it may be possible that even the mechanics do not know this.

      Hi Kishanm77,

Agreed, Your every point is matching with my problem ... Mechanic could not find the exact reason for this abnormal sound.

Please keep posted if you find any solution for this.

      Thanks

Sure Piyush. Can anyone tell what happens to the chain tension in higher gears. Does it remain same or does decrease or increase as we go up the gears? I am sorry if this is a silly question.

Any one faced fuelling issues in between 3000 to 5000 Rpm. It's like bike is about to empty. But just a repeat rethrottle cures it. Any help would be appreciated.

That did happen to me twice with my bike as well. Not sure if it was between the same rpm though. Off late I can't say I've felt it. Do you have that issue on every gear?

Power is transferred more to the rear wheel during low gears. Thats how any vehicle moves forward slow at lower gear and then once the momentum is gained then very little power is need to keep the momentum going which is what happens in higher gear. So the stress on the chain is more on 1st gear and very less in 6th gear.

Does this happen when you fill the tank full? or does it happen all the time?

For me it happens once or twice just after filling full tank. After few KM drive its back to normal.

Yes the 20 year old Dominar rider passed away , collision was with the hyosung gt250. As per eyewitness account the hyosung guy is over speeding and he is know for such things. Both hyosung rider and pillion are also serious. The young dominar rider was the yonger brother of a fellow dominar whatsapp group member , mood here is very sad since the news came. May his soul rest in peace.

                              • Bajaj Dominar

Now as I try to punch it, Dominar thrusts forward commandingly with that sweet, mildly bassy exhaust note treating my ears after 3000 rpm, while reaching triple digits swiftly on an empty stretch.
Finishing the almost 1 kilometer test ride, I never felt like I had a pillion behind owing to the smooth power delivery and relaxed character of the bike.
As I reach the showroom in lajpatnagar dewan bajaj they don't have dominar for test ride then next day I visit Suman Autos Greater noida,I am overwhelmingly impressed with the machine and wanted to go for another longer ride but I had to end it!
                                What I like and dislike
I like :- Bajaj every one knows that bajaj ki jawani and Honda ka budhapa.
Bike is looking good what u want under 2 lack 373cc engine, twin channel abs
                                Good look in naked
As I always prefer naked in every department which comes between two legs.
》fit n finish exhaust quality feel like a bigger bike.
》As i sit on bike the weight of bike makes it slightly intimidating, telling you indirectly to handle it like a grown-up,
》I move forward easily with the low end torque giving enough pull to propel both of us (pillion)
》As I gain speed I find the throttle crisply tuned and gears slotting seamlessly adding linear acceleration without any spiky power delivery.
》Downshifting quickly from 6th gear for a turn I notice the light clutch and sharp bite of the front Brake.
》It again pulls nicely from 2nd gear without any hesitayion in spite of the rider and pillion combine weight of around 160kg.
Now comes on topic which I dislike
》Expected higher fuel tank and a gear indicator.
                                》Limited Colour Options.
                                Doubtful A.S.S need some contemplation.
                                》Not upside down
》Handle will not much better comfort for long ride.
