Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Can that grey plastic cover below the engine be removed? If anybody has removed pls give feedback on how it looks. Seems that cover reduces the ground clearance of the bike, that may hit the ground rocks when going off road.Originally posted by ~wolverine~ View Post

Got registration number today and number plates will be delivered by tuesday.
Manual, invoice and temp rc will be provided on tuesday or wednesday(whenever i will go to collect number plates).
Service Center people are cooperative so far and figers crossed for future.
Sorry if i missed something. Have fun and keep smiling [emoji4] [emoji106]

Ground clearance is enough. Dont even think about removing that cover, it protects engine from obvious issues you mentioned(protects against hitting anything).
I have gone through various bad roads and it goes well without touching anything.

That plastic thingy looks like an engine guard. Better for that to scrape or break than the engine, logic being if you cannot mount an obstacle, the scraping will let you know. Better plastic than engine.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi guys.. Got my Blue D400 on Valentines.. Been following this thread keenly..
Today gave my bike for first service.. Clocked in 420kms.. Apart from the expected oil change and oil filter change, the service rep also said they will do a "silencer padding".. This is not something I have read on this forum..
I asked him what this is, and he just replied that Bajaj has instructed to do it, and its some sort of a padding they will do to the silencer pipe..
I haven't picked up my bike today.. Does any one have any idea what it is meant to do? Im just guessing it might be for reducing vibrations or maybe underbelly protection..
Any heads up will be appreciated..
Cheers!

I will be giving my bike for servicing day after at Karol Bagh Bagga Link. Will ask about the same and find out what it is.
Thanks for the heads up.

Ground clearance is terrible specifically with full load on speed bumps. The lower exhaust box hits like mad. Never had trouble with the front plastic guard though.sigpic

Are there any visible dents? Could you post a pic of the under body?Originally posted by drvmtm View PostGround clearance is terrible specifically with full load on speed bumps. The lower exhaust box hits like mad. Never had trouble with the front plastic guard though.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
^^ High octane petrol is milder and suited for delicate engines designed for them. But it may hurt the engine less in case of others too. So better to go for high octane petrol for first few thousand km for a new bike. Later anyway new use.

Plastic engine guard looks lowest in the photo. But with a pillion rider that silencer box may go more down. Likely that is catalytic converter box for BS IV. One option is to put extra aftermarket metal guard, or easier option would be to adjust the rear suspension to stiffen it so that it wont hit the road humps. And removing plastic guard gives more naked look, unless it's ugly inside.Originally posted by drvmtm View PostGround clearance is terrible specifically with full load on speed bumps. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello friends
Sharing my wonderful experience of my D400 at worlds toughest road - Spiti Valley. And It was First Dominar who visited Kaza.
Yes I went to Spiti Valley on my Dominar till Kaza. Its performance is best . I started my journey on 17 March and return on 23 March 17.
Delhi --> Narkanda --> RekongPeo -->Kaza -->Rekong Peo--> Shimla --> Delhi.
At that time roads are cleared but bad conditions, Snow is there on the side .Some places we encountered with black Ice and unfortunately my front mud guard is broke.
Rest all is good .
Thanks
Puneet
