Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I stand humbly corrected. Looks like I was confident about the trip meter of my car and confused it with the one on my Domi. Looks like the odo is 5 digits and the trips are 3 plus decimal plus mtrs - hence 5 digits and that's why it can't go above 999. Let me double check this on the bike tomm morning.Originally posted by sanjeet286 View PostWind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Sold my 2015 d390 and got the new 2019 dom today.
Bike looks and feels amazing.
Some things that I noticed.
- The green one is a looker. Could find lot of people staring at the bike.
- Suspensions are super comfortable compared to my duke.
- Headlights on this are amazing.
- Sounds really good. I'm sure it must sound great in the higher revs.
Some things I didn't like- Vibey engine. It has more vibes than my duke. Hopefully it will sort itself out after the initial services.
- Clunky gearbox. Don't know if its the same one used on the duke. Maybe placebo effect
- I did feel the bike swaying to the right(might be due to the extra weight of the exhaust canister) but its not a deal breaker.
- Tyres are not very confidence aspiring ones. Might go for an upgrade.
Happy biking everyone.

Your jump from D390 to Domi 400 reminds me of an ad - Groom says I like the younger sister when he goes to see the elder sis. [emoji28]Regards,

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey Guys,
Have been meaning to ask everyone's opinion on the matter that I am thinking of changing the engine oil to 20w50 as the temperature in Delhi is always on the higher side. Come winters, will switch back to 10w50. But keeping the heat in mind, is it going to be a good choice to switch to 20w50 for the next 5000 kms (4-5 months)?
Plus it's a huge pain to go to the SVC just for an oil change. Total 10w50 is otherwise relatively rare to find (another reason to switch to 20w50 in the summer).
Please advise.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
20W50 grade oil burns faster in Dominar so make sure you keep an eye on engine oil level and top it up the moment oil decreases. I'm using 15W50 oil in my Dominar and my bike doesn't heat as much as it used to be with stock 10W50 oil. Also, there is an oil called Amsoil 15W60, cost around Rs.850 available on Amazon IN. I think that should reduce heat even further as it is a W60 grade. A friend is using it in his Duke 250 (Non Abs) and is satisfied with its performance.Originally posted by Usual suspect View PostHey Guys,

Yes it does change. It's been like that always as in my Domi too which is from the 2nd production batch.Originally posted by Om1234 View PostSomone confirm that the sound of bike engine changes in idle when we press the clutch?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Thanks for your revert. So if I'm topping it up regularly, it should be good to go? Also, does changing the oil impact the FE & acceleration too?Originally posted by Greymatter View Post20W50 grade oil burns faster in Dominar so make sure you keep an eye on engine oil level and top it up the moment oil decreases. When you changed from stock, did you notice any other changes apart from lesser heat? Please let me know as I want to make a well informed switch rather than just going with common sense only lol

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Yup happens on all bikes, not only specific to Dominar bike.Originally posted by Om1234 View PostSomone confirm that the sound of bike engine changes in idle when we press the clutch?
In my bike the sound of engine becomes more smooth when clutch is pressed on idling
The extra rotational friction force of clutch assembly when clutch is engaged is what adds to the extra sound when you release the clutch lever,
When clutch is depressed the clutch assembly will be disengaged spinning freely and not connected to main crank hence lesser friction lesser sound.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi All,
I own Apache 180 2013 model and looking to upgrade to Dominar. I heard and read in many places that Bajaj service centers doesn't have enough expert technicians specialized in servicing Dominar. So can anyone suggest me a good if not the best dealer in Hyderabad where the bike can get good service(free & paid) and technicians can troubleshoot issues?
Thanks you.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey Bro would like few suggestion from you I've been riding Dominar since last year and currently I was facing heating issue also the mileage given by my bike was not up to the mark. Then after few trial and errors I changed my engine oil and opted for Divyol by Gandhar oil since then major of the problems were solved. So should I continue with the same? Do help me out...Originally posted by ~wolverine~ View PostSpare Part Catalog For Dominar 400 ABS/Non-ABS

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Am sure you already know this, but the numbers before W, is the viscocity at ambient temperature. The number after W is the viscocity @ 100 deg C. A lower number before W helps with cold starts too. So, theoretically, a 10W50 and 20W50 provide the same amount of lubrication at running temps.Originally posted by Usual suspect View PostThanks for your revert. Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
You are right but the performance of engine oil vary from brand to brand. I used Bajaj 10W50 FS made by Total for 1000KMS but didn't like it at all. My bike is now running on 15W50 oil and I noticed a mark improvement without compromising mileage or performance. Earlier with 10W50 the gearshifts use to get stiff which was noticeable during downshifts on long rides. But within 100 KMS of switching grades that issue vanished and heating too reduced considerably. Like I said, Usual suspect can try Amsoil 15W60 which should provide better protection compared to W50 ☺Originally posted by Vipergts07 View PostAm sure you already know this, but the numbers before W, is the viscocity at ambient temperature.
