Lets hope you are wrong Sir! In a country like India, leaving you bike on side stand only adds to your woes. Ive seen bikes stacked along side so closely in shopping malls on side stands that its near impossible to get your bike out if its been left on a side stand.

Also the simple and practical uses of a main stand are too many to ignore:

1. Ease of tyre change
2. If your bike is to be stagnant for a long time its best to leave it on main stand so that the weight of the bike is not concentrated on the tyres and that may lead to uneven wear and tear.

If Bajaj has ignored this, then its a big flaw. im surprised this has not been highlighted in any of the dozens of reviews on the net.

Speaking to the sales person, he acknowledged but stated that only 4 bikes has been reported this issue. The dealer technicians are not able to crack this yet (since 3 days of troubleshooting) and appears Bajaj has been made aware to investigate/help further- Came across this in some other site. So this is true . The dealer even asked my permission for adding me into that group . Still haven't added me.
This is now worrying me, does anyone with their dominar has this issue or tried checking with linear and Max throttle play. i feel the petrol(not clean) may be the culprit or bike might be just taken out of dealership with less fuel and must have tried this speed. not sure just my thought.

pulsar 200ns new 2017 has now been provided with main stand by company , but yes dominar is heavy even enfield is and it got the main stand but few bikes are from different category all the bikes like ktm etc sports segement bike dont get main stand but yes sports tourier triumph tiger do get main stand as optional buy accessories but mojo it seems dont get the main stand. dominar has a reason why it didnt got main stand as there is catalyst converter underneath but dont know if its posible to add up the main stand.

Vikramaditya sir *add two more points to the list of main stand
- easy for chain cleaning and lubing(tyre cleaning)
- can sit relax and enjoy a hot cup of tea and snaks near cold mountain when during tour 😃

Main stand being absent is most probably due to cat con placement under the body. It would have blocked exhaust piping and maybe Bajaj didn't want too many twists and turns in the piping for obvious reasons.
Now, most >250cc bikes come minus a main stand. They're available as accessories. So, in case one wants, one can buy/fabricate main stand or paddock stand. Not a big deal.

No i guess. All complaints are from owners who used the bike for some days. Its not from a single day of use. Heard that someone is coming to inspect the bike. Saw it in the group.

Well explained sir.
I just ran into the post online and was gonna post here. BTW, Mr.Omer (The crashed bike's owner) is a member of a Dominar group and admin of a Dominar Owners group on FB. The description in his words :

"I am very thankful to have such a wonder family like you guys. Your prayers have been answered. Thanks to almighty. I was saved. GMR ( highway team) is excellent. They helped me the most. They did first aid on the accident spot and took me to the toll gate to help further more.
I was on NH44. Bangalore Hyderabad highway when suddenly out of the blue a lady came from nowhwere and started to cross the road without even looking at the road. Tried to avoid her but still hit her and smashed myself in to the road divider.
Again it's proved. Safety is not an option. Its a compulsory for every one.

I didn't apply the brakes for those asking about ABS, it happend all of a sudden. The whole impact was passed on to the lady and the divider on higway. That's where the edge of the divider may have cracked it

IMHO, he should have applied the brakes I guess. It would have reduced atleast some damage to person and property.

• Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

My experience of owning (or trying to) own a Dominar has been pretty horrible thus far.

I booked the motorcycle on the 10th of January and selected Sai Service Andheri, Mumbai as my dealership. However on calling Sai Service Andheri I was informed that any bookings for south mumbai are being transferred to Sai Service Lower Parel.

I visited this branch of Sai Service and they assured me of delivery within 5 days of me receiving the dispatch sms. They also gave me an exchange offer for my 200 ns, where in I was supposed to drop the 200ns on the day of me taking dominar delivery and they would hand me cash of Rs 42000 on the spot.

I received the dispatch sms on the 27th of January (Friday), since I live close to Lower Parel I visited the branch to discuss the details. I was assured that I will get delivery within the next week and was asked to get the payment done as soon as possible. I remitted the payment on the next working day i.e Monday 30th January. On remitting the payment I visited the branch again, there was a very noticeable difference in the attitude of the employees at that point, almost like 'now he doesn't have a choice but to deal with us no matter what we do'.

I was told that due to the market demand my 200ns would fetch only Rs 30,000. I was also informed that I will not be able to see the motorcycle or inspect it for any damages until after the motorcycle is registered under my name. They told me that they had checks to make sure there aren't any issues with the motorcycle however they take no guarantee for the same. They also told me that the motorcycle would run at least 30 kms before me taking delivery as the bike will be ridden all the way from Kandivali (I was told it would be under 15 before making payment, as it would be transported in a truck, which they later denied).

Even then I was okay with all of that as long as I get the delivery of the bike in time. However its been over a week since remitting the payment for the bike (27th Jan to 7th Feb) and it was only yesterday that Sai Service completed their internal invoicing for money received. Numerous phone calls were met with false assurances but today I was told that my papers haven't even been sent to the RTO yet and I will probably have to wait until next week, even though my motorcycle has been lying in their warehouse for the past 10 days.

It is really frustrating having to deal with an agency that pretty much functions as a government office. My advice to anyone purchasing a Dominar in South Mumbai would be to stay clear of Sai Service, or at the very least, do not fall for their trick of forcing you to take delivery from Sai Service Lower Parel. Not only is their on-road price higher than most dealers in Mumbai (Rs 1,84,500 plus absolutely no accessories) they do not understand the concept of customer service and will make your wait for your bike much longer than it needs to be.

Does the engine casing protrude out so it's the first thing to hit the ground when the bike slides?

Also, on the note of accidents I find a lot of people try swerving, rather than braking, to avoid an accident. This results in hitting divider in most cases. Last week I almost crashed into an Activa rider head on when I was overtaking another bike at 75 kmph. I didn't see him because he just joined the road suddenly without looking at the traffic. I braked hard, which gave him enough time to swerve out of the way.

Another incident where I felt braking was better than swerving, is the dog crossing road. Now there may be more involved due to the physics of a crash, but I saw a couple accident videos and noticed people who try swerving to avoid the dog end up hitting it mostly, plus they ram into something else, or go off-road. I have endured 2 dogs, 3 cats and one rat who ran right into my bike and suffered nothing more than a bump or thwack on the side of the bike, due to my instinct to brake hard when facing obstacles.

Exactly, when you swerve, the person against you will not be expecting that and move back or forward, ultimately in the direction where the vehicle moves. I'm positive many of us would have experienced this while walking/jogging/riding, someone comes opposite, 99% of the time, both try to move in the same direction. Instead if you try braking hard, the person would either standstill in shock or even move away. Well, its easier said than done. But, I guess this is better to avoid collision and thus injuries.

The engine casing doesn't protrude out, there is a crash guard above the engine casing (diagonally). I still cant get how the casing could have gotten a hole.
