Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hi, this is a little OT, but where in this forum can I ask about advice on riding gloves? I saw the gears section but it seems to be reviews mostly.
Thing is, I'm on medication and my joints are extremely weak, my fingers cramp up, almost dislocate when cold air hits it for a while, and Bangalore night climate doesn't help, so I want a pair of gloves that can keep it warm
Ps: Admins, if the OT is a violation please move it to the right thread, I can follow up there.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I have heard about this mysterious problem that on pulling the clutch lever you can shift down only once , which means if you are in 5 gear and want to go to 2 gear then you have to pull clutch three times , each time for 1 gear, is this true

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Not really. You can usually shift through all the gears with pulling in the clutch once. But, you gotta keep the clutch slack in a way that gears shift smoothly, too less a clutch slack would mean grinding or hard gear shifts too high a slack means, excessive pull and clutch bite point is more. Keeping the slack in between both is ideal.Originally posted by Nakul Sharma View PostI have heard about this mysterious problem that on pulling the clutch lever you can shift down only once , which means if you are in 5 gear and want to go to 2 gear then you have to pull clutch three times , each time for 1 gear, is this true

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Great buy but not a great bike.
Before first service, the 4000 above rpm were so strong and annoying that i was content to riding below 4000 rpm. Bike could still touch 80 kmph while riding under 4000. For gears 4,3,2 bike would reach the knocking point forcing a down shift. I switched to power / speed grade which smoothed the performance. I reported vibes during first service and they apparently tightened bolts and all seemed nice for 1 week. Bike odo is @ 1000 kmsToday after 100 kms of hard highway riding below 100 kmph, the bike has changed character again. It seems great till 25 kmph but after that too vibey in 2nd and bit knocky in 3rd gear. Vibration are back @ 4000 rpm. The front wind shield and number plate seems to be making a lot of noise. Will remove tomorrow and go for a ride.
Hopefully i might have got bad petrol or bike having a bad day.
Its an awesome looking torqey bike with great stopping power, sadly, the refinement is sorely missing. What a bummer.

Expecting vibe free motor from a single cylinder 400cc 35 bhp with 3 holes in combustion chamber doesn't make sense. And btw refinement comes with cost, there is a reason why 250cc cbr is costly than 400cc dominar.Originally posted by deepDmnr View PostGreat buy but not a great bike.

Enjoy your ride buddy. Forget these small things. You have vfm product in your hand. Have to compromise in some aspect.

Agreed, as you pointed out, it's physics. Single cylinder 373 cc will vibrate. If it is what it is, vibes or not, I will push it every chance i get :-)Originally posted by ankit.traveller View PostExpecting vibe free motor from a single cylinder 400cc 35 bhp with 3 holes in combustion chamber doesn't make sense. CBR250 has got fairing, and its Honda so will be costly.
Even RS200 costs very close to Dominar (it is also a 'Bajaj', and only a 200).

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hey, even the CBR 250 has an annoying 5k rpm rattle on brand new bikes in 2012 which many users hated including me until I stuck a piece of cardboard in the problem area to shut it.
If Honda can't make a perfect product, how can we expect Bajaj?Last edited by leech; 02-12-2017, 12:06 AM.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Yes in many reviews, they said CBR250 has a different character compared to other Honda bikes ( most of them compared the refinement with Unicorn-refinement benchmark ) as CBR250 has some vibes at some particular RPM range, both my Honda Dazzler and RS200 has vibes between 4.5k RPM to 5.5k RPM, but RS has less vibes.Originally posted by leech View PostHey, even the CBR 250 has an annoying 5k rpm rattle on brand new bikes which many users hated including me until I stuck a piece of cardboard in the problem area to shut it.
