  • Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

First service was done on Saturday
    1) Dropped the bike at 3 PM, collected it at 6:30 PM
    2) Total Cost was 1,135/-
    3) Biggest positive was that my bike had quite a lot of petrol and I was sure that I will get the bike empty. Did not happen. They did not steal the fuel. Rarity if you ask me

Overall, thumbs up to Executive Bajaj, Malad

Can someone please confirm that 1.5ltr oil at 1010 rs. is expensive?

Sir, very strange, but yes it is the speed. I'll have to visit the showroom again.

      Cheers,

They might have noticed but did not say anything. Also the castrol oil color was red as compared to factory colorless. motul 7100 also has red color. Bajaj 10000 also is dark red. Your call.

Oil cost not too high, not for fully synthetic if you go be market rates.

One query for D400 owners....when the DRLs light up, does the tail-light also light up??

              I forgot to mention:

The silencer was not removed to drain the oil. They just removed the cowl protecting the sensor at the bottom and drained the oil. Few drops did fall on the silencer, but that is OK i guess.

Sorry mods for the back to back posts.

Why is no one coming up with a Non-ABS version review when the vehicles are available in the market now? How many Non-ABS owners here?

Now that she(CBR) is gone, im very eager to book the Non-ABS Dominar 400 by wednesday. Any updates & pointers will be helpful.

Why non ABS when everyones always cribbing about lack of abs in the 150-200cc segment let alone above 200.

Well, I never cribbed about owning a Non-ABS CBR 250r. :P Personally i didnt feel any noticeable difference on brakes with ABS after i rode it. I know it kicks in only on hard braking. Its just a personal preference and no comments.

I heard two of the service engineers say that the brakes on the Non-ABS are better with good bite than the ABS. Also, i dont ride like a maniac, so i thought could spend extra money for riding gear upgrade.

Brother I'm a non abs CBR owner myself, reason for me not going for abs was it was a good 35-50 k more expensive than the non abs one . I'm sure the dominar abs and non abs variants are not that much apart in terms of pricing, but I agree abs saves you under hard braking but that's just where your speeding and something appears before you and you gotta brake hard , then abs will save but as you said its not necessary if you sanely and safely. I see posts which say people are disappointed in the lack of abs on a 150cc motorcycle :/

                            1st service update >>

Dropped bike for service around 9:30AM @ KVR Bajaj. Had done around 525KLM..

"i wonder D400 is really a premium bike from bajaj" i din find any dedicated service adviser. Anyways one service adviser came and took details for taking bike for service. He said estimated cost of service would be around 1,600/ and i would get bike in two hours. I left service center and i guess by 12:50 i got call from service center to collect bike and cost of service is 1,225/ I took bike by evening, din like the way bike was serviced. Bike was not cleaned properly, when n 1st gear "neutral" ligt come's up some time, gear shift wasn't feeling smooth.

Well i had one issue or i don't know if its issue: there is a humming sound when bike is at steady speed or in ideal condition, when clutch is engaged sound goes (checked with service adviser, he said its coz of slipper clutch. Well in that case itS@#** Bajaj should work on it) Any D400 users felt this "humming" sound ???

Lets see how things goes in coming day's

                            Ride safe.

This is a no brainer. ABS is the vfm usp here. It's just a matter of time before you will need it on Indian roads. Gear you can get later but not after market ABS. Just my 2 cents.

Its a personal decision to go for abs or non abs IMHO.
We should not make anyone feel bad about their decision :-)
I have no.hard feelings against anyone.
After all we are all under one roof to share our piece of experience with Dominar over here.

                                Abs or non abs :-)
                                IT'S STILL A DOMINAR. :-D
