Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I've experimented alot on chain. Here are my preferred choices.Originally posted by akshaysondkar View PostI have completed 1000kms on dominar and haven't lube the chain.actually im confused what should i use viz- chain lube(motul, glosil) or gear oil.Can someone suggest which will be better and post how many kms should chain be lubed?
For cleaning :-
Only Diesel is sufficient with brush and cloth (no need to buy chain/rust cleaner spray)
For lubing :-
If you want to use lube spray then go with 3M.
It's less messy than any other brand and lasts around 350+ km easily
Currently I'm using ep90 (this is the first time I used gear oil) I've ridden 150+ km on ep90 and I'm IMPRESSED. If you consider it keeping the price in mind then it is the best. If it lasts 350+ km (same as 3M chain lube) then I'm going to keep using it in the future until and unless there's a better substitute available.
(My suggestion :- try motul, then try 3m and then try gear oil.) (I'm sure you'll hate the sticky nature of motul in next cleaning, but try it so that you can differentiate between these and you will end up with 3M or gear oil)

I will do the same and keep the visor section clean, but before that, I have a couple of questions:
a. Hope the number plate's lower end doesn't touch/hits front mudguard. It happened with my ZMR.
b. Hope the number plate in ways is not obstructing the headlight throw.
I will install the Pulsar AS's visor over the stock one. This number plate setup will keep the visor clean.
Thanks in advance.

I used Grade 90 gear oil for my ZMR and the chain socket lasted me for 50K KMs, so irrespective of the price it's still the best option in the market.Originally posted by NirmalDushman View PostI've experimented alot on chain. Here are my preferred choices.

Currently, I am using RE chain clean and Lub from old RE bike, once that is empty I will switch to Gear Oil grade 90.

Looks like a seepage and probably would be resolved by gasket replacement , keep the pics for records and get it done under warranty.Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostHello guys. Do you all get this stains on left side of engine?
I mean is it chain lube or is it seeping from gasket? What do u guys think?

If I may suggest, try a normal wash first since I see a lot of red soil area that you rode through. It should clear out debris and give a clear picture of what's exactly wrong.Originally posted by faysal_khan View PostHello guys. Do you all get this stains on left side of engine?

This is the magneto cover, isn't the clutch cover on the opposite sideOriginally posted by #bpk View PostOil leakage from clutch cover
Yes, leakage is from the leakage from the magento cover gasket/stator wiring which is exiting from this side cover.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

It won't do away with normal wash. Should I clean that specific area with diesel or petrol? Can i use it?Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostIf I may suggest, try a normal wash first since I see a lot of red soil area that you rode through. I'm really confused. I still believe it's the excessive chain lube. Though i send it to dominar specific mechanic at Bajaj's. He said he will replace gasket.
Can you guys share the picture of the specific area on your bike?

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Hello guys.
I have cleaned this with diesel as suggested by IJS brother and keeping an eye there for a while. And until then i won't lube the chain to make sure it's not a chain lube.
Let's see. Fingers crossed. By the way. How long should i ride to make sure it's fine. I mean how many kilometres?

As the oil warms up, it will become thinner. That is when it may start seeping out if there is any seepage.
Ride it in your regular form and keep an eye on the oil reading from the watch-glass.Regards,

They have been pretty much been the best for KTM bikes service I have come to seen of when compared any other KTM service centers here in Bangalore, not sure Bajaj bikes get a different treatment there.
Yes they charge a bit high say about 10% extra, but I am atleast happy all in all which is worth the extra money paid for peace of mind.
Ask for Babu Sir the service manager and couple of other mechanics who are good at what they do, PM me if you want more details and their names, personal phone number.Last edited by kiran2508; 01-26-2019, 06:42 PM.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart
