    Need some advice..

    1.Which insurance company is best?
Present one is HDFC which has tie up with show room..(0 CLAIM till now).

    2. Best budget tyre for front? (dry and wet grip + marginal life)

3.wat ll happen if handle bar play is less(tight). Wat is the cone set life..

    4. Recently changed chain sprocket to rolon. Anybody used it already? At wat frequent it needs adjustment and cleaning?
SVC guys recommended to use sae 90 oil..
Telling lube spray holds more dust which wont leave in normal water wash. Is it true?

5.auxilary lights... Some say connect it with relay.. where to get it..?
Already contacted once directly but not working within 5-6 months.(supply taken from front break light)

6 front shocks working fine. Bike is @18k so when should be the oil change?

(Lost bike manual so i am asking with u guys)

    Thank you.
1 usually the company which have tieups with service is the most Hassel free and sometimes cashless too Hdfc is good. But again these days the cost of insurance has gone up very significantly and if u compare in the market u will save around 1 to 1.5k or more, both hdfc and icici are the costlier one. And what i get to know during past few years is that it is hard to get cashless in case of two wheelers. At the first renewal of my domi i opted out with my local agent and took oreintal insurance and saved around 1.2k compared to what the showroom is charging for a lesser idv and a friend of mine took same from Policy bazar and saved 750 more than me.
This year which is the 2nd renwal or 3rd year insurance for domi i went with same oreintal but now through policy bazar and paid 550 less than what my local guys was asking and showroom was asking 1.5 k more for a lower idv. With policy bazar you have the option for choosing or editing the idv a higher idv helps in case of theft and do add zerodep along with comprehensive insurance. Compare the price of premium at few places and policy bazar and pick whatever u like. Keep the idv 10 percent less than the previous idv normally showroom guys give a way lesser idv around 20 less. I always keep idv 10 percent less than previous one and on the 3rd year you can keep it around 12 to 15 percent less than previous one.

2 if u have Stock mrf in good condition at rear than go for mrf at front or else my choice would be Apollo alpha h1 or the ceat zoom rad x1 and there is one more new tyre coming from metro continental.
I normally keep both front and rear of same compound and make. Best budget would be mrf then ceat and then apollo.

3 Bearing can get damaged with more play or the khat khat would increase, cone set life depends on how careful you are with potholes and bad patches. Normally in dominar i have seen coneset Bearing getting changed at 15k to 18 k kms and have seen stock bearing on one bike with odo close to 40k kms.

4 Hmmm Rolon chain set very interesting it is , did you by any chance Checked the older chain set, my dear friend the stock chain set is also from rolon you can see R logo on every alternate link of the chain. And the stock chain set is same as the the one which rolon has started selling in the open market. People make videos without having full knowledge and confuse others too. And on the ep 90 oil for the lube , yes the service guy is right on this point gear oil is the best lube for the chain and the most economical too i have been using it since ages now. On dominar i use ep140 in winter and ep 90 in summer(suggested by a good friend with more experience) , but ep 90 would do fine all year long, just do not over lube and wipe off the extra.

5 no idea i am happy with stock headlight.

6 Normally fork oil replacement period is mentioned in the manual but in our case it is not, so i say do not go for replacement if it is working fine or there is no leak. Change after 2 year or when you feel thay the front is getting softer.

      Hello All,

can anyone help me with a good mechanic in Bangalore for Dominar service. Seeing bad reviews for Auto Service and my experience with Popular is no good either.

      regards,
      Vijay

Theft and in case of major accidents when bike's repair bill is 75% of IDV. Then you're entitled to claim it as total loss and you'll get IDV declared value for your vehicle. Otherwise it's same as long as repairs are normal. It doesn't change anything.

I would personally recomend not going below 10 percent depreciation on idv for the first 3 years and since you plan to keep it for 5 year do keep it between 10 to 15 percent. And also add zerodep with comprehensive. One more thing if u go with policy bazar than keep in my that now the PA is optional and you have to tick on pa if u need that it would around 320 to 350 for a pa of RS 1500000, all other agents would always include pa in the premium amount. If you have a separate pa policy running along u can skip pa.

And for now keep idv 10 percent less than the previous one. And yes it help in both theft and total loss case.

Try Khivraj Bajaj, Kasturba Road. Atleast they are better than Popular and some other Bajaj ASC (RV, Kalyani etc).
Highlander in HSR, X-Torque in Kalyan Nagar are good ones.

Forks should have either matt black or golden colour. Silver coloured USD looks like an aftermarket mod job.

Hey guys, I've recently moved to India and wanted to purchase the Dominar 400 for city riding and touring. Previously I had owned a 2003 CBR 1000RR so I feel this bike will be a decent step down (since liter bikes aren't really convenient for everyday riding).

However, in Mumbai a guy quoted me 2.05 L on-road price and since I'm new I don't quite understand if that is legitimate. Also considering going for a second hand as I will be here for a year max.

                              So 2 questions,

                              1) Is this on road price accurate for Mumbai?
                              2) Is it worth purchasing a second hand bike? And if so, any common failure points I should look out for along with issues that may cause me pain in the long run?

                              Thanks!

Hope the guy who quoted was a Bajaj employee inside a Bajaj showroom. Do not under any means buy or give money to any other than at the showroom. Getting fleeced isn't that common, but ain't uncommon either.

2nd hand options will be easily available but check the papers/service record and take a longish test drive. Haven't seen a squid yet on a domi, but do take a pillion test ride with the owner too, to see how he usually rides. And ensure some trustable local is alongside at all times.
