Handling charges have been deemed illegal by the H'ble SC of India. Below is just one example although a little dark.

Consumer court in Chennai has fined a Maruti dealer for charging handling charges. The court has ordered dealer to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation.

Tell them in a very calm tone that if they are adamant to charge in the name of handling, you'll either drop the plan of buying Dominar or will look at other showrooms or change brand altogether. This also means that you'll send a warm but meaningful email to Bajaj telling them that you dropped the plans of Dominar because their authorized dealer was asking money over and above what's necessary.

Be very humble in all this through - whether you buy it or not. A good rapport with dealership goes a long way.

I did try being polite and normal to them. The only reason being I don't want to end up buying a bike with which they screw me over or not have the optimum service post delivery. I mean we can't deny the fact in India at least for me I've to always be scared when I'm trying to take away money from someone where 90% of people give it to them with no questions asked. I though I can buy the bike, ok be doing an online transfer and then there will certainly be a difference in the billing, taxes and the amount transferred. I can take it up later too, it'll be a long hard fight with them though and mostly futile.

Here in Delhi few car dealership do charge handling charges, but on two wheeler it is not there. Only the standard accessories pack for around 1100 it was what i paid extra, which includes leg gaurds, mirrors, and saaree gaurd. And this package is common for every brand here. But i do remember not paying any handling charges. You can try contacting Bajaj on this regard.

Mirror and Saree guard come from factory for all Bajaj products I guess. They are the most complete brand if I'm not wrong.
I did not pay for accessories when I got my P220.

They are mandatory to be fitted from the company! The government mandates it! I'm not sure about the charges and the there's no clarity from their end either! The problem is they just write down a bulk amount and say this is registration charges. They're getting smart by the day, if they exclusively mention the details they end up arguing with most of the people. When there a lump sum only a few idiots like us they've to argue with. It's a funny place where we stay, questioning is far away we don't even get the right to be informed. Well none of the vehicles that I've bought ever had a smooth transaction! This is not going well either. They say we'll do a PDI hence 300 rupees, we'll fuel up 3 liters so money for that and what not! It's their responsibility to do it. But well, they wouldn't budge because 90% of the people happily pay for what they ask, with no questions asked.

You've rightly mentioned this! It's true, it's a mandate from the govt.

Did an oil top up a few days ago. Warmed up the engine for a while, let it cool and poured some oil, got it near the max level when the bike is upright. After riding today for a good 200 kilometers, I found the oil level covering up the whole oil inspection window with the bike upright. But after the engine cools down, it shows between min-max level. Did I overfill the oil?

Perhaps the area which you checked the oil level on the ride has a small tilt which will distort the readings.

Seems like the pictures have individual cost on the label. 8499 and 6499.

I checked the level in the parking lot. Do it almost every day. In the morning, the level is bang between the markers, after a ride, the oil floods up the inspection window. That, and the ride feels a bit sluggish when I open the throttle.

Yes these are mandatory parts, but if u peek carefully all manufacturers charge for these parts, as these does not come fitted from the factory, it comes comes under standard accessories package. Every brand charge for these, as per bajaj goes this being my 3rd bajaj bike and this package is almost same price in all three.
If look at re then it doesn't even comes with a saree gaurd.
This is the case in Delhi i am not familiar with other cities and Dominar is my 7th motorcycle and 10 two wheeler.
Sometimes the cost is hidden but at bajaj price list this package is mentioned separately.

First bajaj Dominar with the much awaited tyres. The only Indian tyre with 0 degree steel belted radial to compete with Metzeler m7, life as per company is 50 percent more than metz.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                            THE END
