It's been two days since I bought the dominar. Back break doesn't seem to work. Is this normal for new bikes? Should I give it some more time or get it checked?

The rear brakes have very poor feedback. It is a fact. They also have poor stopping power compared to the front, which is ok if you can get into the habit of using a 70:30 front:rear brake combination, which is the ideal way of braking. Keep practicing and you wont bother much about the rear brake in future.

To summarise, yes, the rear brakes barely work.

Thank you. Fact is that I cannot live with such faults. Is there a way it can be rectified?

There are various things possible and people have tried them.

            1. Give it time to set itself, the brakes will form a better contact with the calipers and apparently be able to grip better.
            2. Try a different set of pads ( need to check forums here for options)
            3. Use sand paper to roughen the pads.
            4. Write to Bajaj

I think the word 'poor' is a relative term used to compare to the front brake, its quite ok to use at low speeds, or use both brakes for high speed or emergency braking. They do get marginally better with time. But yes, they are extremely spongy, that isnt going to change soon.

Have you tried sending a tweet to @MORTH? Might work. Its the official twitter id of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. They will loop in the respective RTOs to check the status. If they read your tweet that is.

                  I had Duke 200 before I bought P220.
Duke's rear brake felt like wooden pieces rubbing together. It had zilch braking effect and will work only at speeds less than 8 KMPH - yes 8 KMPH!!
What I did was remove the oil nut in the rear brake caliper and pumped out excess oil. This gave me the required feedback and the braking felt better.
I believe Dominar's brake issues might be due to that.

This is how rear break should work, rear is kept light to aid the front you can not stop the bike at speed using rear breaks the bike would skid.
All the inertia is at the front and that is why more break force is given there.
Guess what front 330mm disk with dual piston caliper and rear only 230 mm with single piston caliper.
Rear is the most wrongly abused break here in india.

I do understand the concept of how braking works and the laws of motion.
My quote was to help find a solution to the braking problem. I did the same work on the rear brakes of my Ex-D200.
My 220's brakes are ever so perfect from factory that I never had to make any changes.

I understand that too, i missed the post where a member said his week old bike has no pressure in rear break, but he faild to elaborate what exactly happened , is the paddle lose or free then the break paddle bolt is faulty or everything is fine but he wheel is not stopping then the rear master cylinder is at fault.
I have personally tried few bikes of owners who complained that rear break is not effective but i found it to be perfect.
My point here again which you also acknowledge is that most motorcyclists here rely on rear break only , which is wrong approach.
Chalo bhai no more on this, i have already written a very elaborated post here in this very thread how the breaking work, many pages ago.
                        Ride well be safe.

Sorry About not elaborating the post on what went wrong - Because I don't want to commit anything wrongly until service center people state\found the issue

I got my bike today after 2 days - they stated that air block was the issue & they fixed the same.

Now I can feel the bite in the rear brakes - but still I can't commit that I am satisfied because my brakes got jammed in the middle of the road when returning from service center

Service guys came to the spot and adjusted the leg brake lever & pump movement - Happy they came to rescue quickly !

I am still working with service guys for a positive fix

                          Thanks!

Bhai, get the whole system bled and filled with new oil. Clean and rub the pads and reinstall it. The bike should be there or thereabouts.

Service People stated they did the same, As you said they drained rubbed and Refilled

Reply I got for bike brake got jammed was because - Brake pump and leg lever was too tight - they adjusted the same then the bike was able to move freely

I took the below picture after the incident - do you think these marks are from rubbing the disk ?
