Hello all ,

Is it okay to leave bike standing for 2 or more weeks ? I am travelling for a few weeks and it will just stand in the garage for around 15 days. What are the things that's hould be taken care if the bike is not ridden for 15 days ?

Thanks in advance

I don't know that... will check on it before installing. Thanks kau8552

just make sure its parked in a safe place/protected from the elements and potential miscreants
apart from that you don't have to do anything else.

Hello,

My bike is close to a year old and has 12k Km on the ODO.
Surprisingly after completing about 1500 km after 3rd service which included oil change, I noticed a dip in OIL Level indicator. I confirm there were no signs of Engine sweating or any leaks in the Engine.

Although there was no warning sign in the TFT, I drained the oil and shocked to find only about a liter of Oil in the container ( 950+ ml ).
Since it was a holiday and I couldn't source Motul 4T 7100. I filled 1.5 Liter of Shell ultra 4T fully synthetic oil (10W-40).
And Bike has completed about 1500 km in Shell Ultra 4T showing no signs of dip in the Oil Level indicator.

Below are concerns after the above incident.

1. Should I suspect the service center for not filling 1.5 liter Or Is it known issue in D390 for Oil level to drop ?
2. How would be idea of using Shell Ultra 4T 10w-40 for the next oil change ?

Please advice.

ideally there should not be a dip in the OIL level . maybe about 200 ml drop in a 6000 km service change interval.
Also Shell Ultra 10w-40 is a brilliant oil. been using it on CBR 250 for50k+ km however KTM guys swear by motul 7100.

Stick to a w50 oil (10w50, 15w50, 20w50) as much as possible. using w40 in an emergency/short duration/cold weather is fine.. but switch to the w50 soon.
Shell also makes a 15w50 oil (Advance ultra FS) and you can use this. I am currently running on this oil and its been good so far with no issues (did a 1500km trip on it too). If not the Motul 7100, costs lesser than shell and does a wonderful job as well (this is what was used mostly prior to me trying the shell)
I usually buy oil off amazon these days since i get a good deal and save a couple hundred bucks.

Now coming to the oil level, from what you say probably the svc did not fill up sufficient oil. Again we can only speculate.
Usually under normal riding conditions the drop in oil level will be hardly 100ml~200ml max every 5000km (considering some is soaked up in the oil filter). So keep an eye on the oil level and if it stays put, nothing to worry.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Please let me know of any detrimental effect on the engine as I have done about 1500+ km with the 10W 40 Shell Ultra 4T. (daily commute of around 50km and a 800 Km Trip) Also, I had plans to run this oil for 5000 Km , now considering your post I am thinking to change to 10W-50. Please suggest.

considering the heat these engines produce, the higher ambient temperatures around and the recommended grade (being a w50) I wouldn't run the w40 for long intervals.
that's just my take on it. if i were you, i would dump that oil now and fill up with a w50.
in the long run a w40 might cause more wear on the engine, riding short distances sanely, one or two instances on a w40 shouldn't causes issues.
once you start riding it hard or on longer distances, the heat might not allow the w40 to provide as much protection as say a w50.
get back to the motul 7100 or the shell ultra (w50's) in the next 500-1000km.

Rode through heavy rain in Hyderabad yesterday. Later when I opened the tank, noticed that there was a lot of water in the little compartment just under the fuel lid. How can I prevent water from mixing with the fuel?
Also My bike usually runs around 205 kms before the low fuel warning comes on with a range of 70kms showing.
Is it risking damaging the fuel injectors if we let it go too much below that?
With a 13 litre fuel tank was expecting a much longer range.

you might want to get it inspected at the svc and maybe have the tank cap changed under warranty. i've only observed a bit of moisture, nothing alarming.. but if you are seeing a pool of water better get it checked.

fuel economy depends on the way it is ridden. 390's can go as low as 17's in bad traffic to as high as 25's in the city.
it might risk the fuel pump, but haven't yet seen a failure because of that.. i myself have run on low fuel warning a few times for around 50km (on my d200). mine is at 33k km and running fine. i mostly fill up once the warning appears but sometimes on touring or out of sheer laziness i just drive it longer. so why the risk, as much as possible try to fill up once you hit the warning.

Hi guys, is anyone using Ceat RAD 150 rear tyre in their dukes. I am going to change the tyre in couple of days and currently have michelin pilot street. Very impressed with michelin, but wanted to check all options.

I had a R15 before the D390 and I had this habit of riding the bike alot even when the low fuel warning came on. One day my bike just refused to start, I took it to the svc and the fuel pump cost me 11k.
Please don't be an idiot like me, always keep enough fuel in the tank.
