Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey Guys, I got my bike on24th. All good, except for one thing..
I have noticed a weird issue. My oil level window isn't consistent all the time. Some times it shows half and sometimes near the lower mark.
Also, the bigger issue is; after the engine is hot, say after riding some 20 kms, the low oil pressure warning light pops up (The warning light, not a message on the on the display). This happens only at idle, and once I rev it above 4k RPM it disappears and doesn't come back for a very long time.
I showed this at the showroom, and they say that the there is enough oil, and since we are changing at 1000 kms anyway, no need to do anything now..
Even though I don't think it is anything serious. I'm extra cautious because it is engine oil.
Any comments on this?If u can't explain it to a six year old; You don't understand it yourself!!

Checked with the guy, the saddle stays are about 3.5-4kgs and the crash guards 6, made of steel and powder coated. They do Paytm transactions and about 300+ extra (bangalore) for shipping over the 2k and 3k price tag. The stays are about 2 inches wider over the pillion grab rails.Originally posted by AOT View PostYou made my life so much easier. Love you brother.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
It happens with 40% of the Duke I've seen till now. Happens on mine too. It's a faulty oil pressure switch, which needs to be replaced because somewhere some vendor has cheaped out.Originally posted by hgaaditya View PostHey Guys, I got my bike on24th. All good, except for one thing..

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hello xbhpians,
My Duke 390 is 2 months old with 2100 on the ODO and first service was done around 1000 km.
Recently I have been hearing rubbing noise while braking and I am unable to confirm whether rubbing noise is present even without braking.
I suspect this issue has cropped up after get chain adjustment done[Not in SVC ]. Just a vague guess.
Can anyone clarify if this is Normal, if not What might have caused the rubbing noise?
Thanks,

Glad to help, mateOriginally posted by AOT View PostYou made my life so much easier. Love you brother.
I don't agree with their crash guard/slider design as you'll probably have to remove it for any work on the engine/services. That was the main reason I didn't go for their sliders for my Dominar.Originally posted by dhanushdp View PostChecked with the guy, the saddle stays are about 3.5-4kgs and the crash guards 6, made of steel and powder coated. Good to know, that it is just a faulty switch. What about the inconsistent reading in the oil level window?
Also, just asking to be sure. is there a separate warning if the oil level goes dangerously low?If u can't explain it to a six year old; You don't understand it yourself!!

Get the switch replaced at your first service. Don't settle for the "its normal sir" nonsense.Originally posted by hgaaditya View PostGood to know, that it is just a faulty switch. What about the inconsistent reading in the oil level window?

The oil window has always been notoriously inaccurate on the KTM's. What i tend to do is, warm up the engine for a few minutes and then sit on the bike for a few minutes keeping it straight. Then either ask a friend or try clicking a picture of the oil window.
Even if you're not able to see oil in the window, its most probably because of it circulating to the top of the engine head as well as the oil filter.
It'll flash a "Low Oil Pressure" warning in RED on your console incase its getting starved. As of now, don't worry

Okay, I will get the sensor replaced anyway during the first service. I was just worried about the engine oil.
It is the most inaccurate measure in the world, okay not inaccurate, but highly inconsistent..
Today, again in B2B traffic, the low oil pressure lit up, and after I reached the office, I checked the oil level and it was perfectly fine.

yeah, it was just 200 km on the odo when we started that morning!Originally posted by chip94 View PostThat's a blown head gasket. How many KM's has it done? This is pretty unheard of on a brand new bike. They'll sadly, open up the engine and replace the head gasket.

Always make sure the bike is held perfectly straight when checking the oil level, warmed up engine does make the oil flow more freely and help with the right measurement. Secondly, low oil pressure tantrums are dime a dozen. The oil pressure sensor on the left of the engine head, can be a probably culprit for throwing erroneous readings on the display. Going per you, since the oil level is fine and yet the display throws a warning, get your oil pressure sensor checked/replacedOriginally posted by hgaaditya View PostHey Guys, I got my bike on24th. Rubbing from the rear can be caused by three things, a chain that is dry or a chain that is excessively tight or a combination of both, and finally a loose chain itself. If you hear rubbing or squeaking noise from the front side/wheel of the motorcycle, remove your brake pads, glaze them using a medium grit sandpaper and install them back.Originally posted by Long rider View PostHello xbhpians,

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Here's the UPDATE:Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View PostI'll try to answer fixed..
KTM area service manager inspected the bike and found that too much dust was found in the engine oil and oil filter. Oil filter was clogged which resulted in bike stalling. Still i am not able to understand how so much dust entered?
Secondly they had no clue about coolant getting drained. Parts will arrive in 10 days.
