Hi guys, very strange but today after some 2975 Kms on odo, the headlight switched off momentarily when I pushed the indicator switch, funny, issues cropping up now, just hope it doesn't become a regular feature

      Hello Folks,

Looking to buy the Duke 390. Just had a few questions:
      1. Can I expect a mileage of 25 - 30 kmpl if I drive under 100 kmph? I will be doing a mix of city (around 45%) and highway (around 55%) between my house and my office (a total of 60 kms per day)
      2. The test bike that I drove did not inspire confidence in the rear brake. Am I supposed to rely only on the front brakes?
      3. What self-service do I need to know and do for the bike in between services?

      Regards,
      Jagdish Shenoy

You will get mileage between 20-23 in city, and around 25 on highways as told by many users.
I drove the bike and I didn't feel what you felt about rear brake, I found them to be very good, maybe test bike you drove had problems in brake.

Thanks a ton! Is there anything I need to know about maintenance in between services? I have read about coolant and oil leakages. Any adverse experiences in this regard?

I am also a person like you who is willing to buy d390, as far from my info just do normal services, no special instructions. You might face ecu or tft /headlight issues, but they are just software related, so most of them are resolved on latest update.

You can just follow regular maintenance or observation steps like checking Coolant / fluid levels, lube the chain every 600 - 800kms and get it tightened if required.

There has been change in onroad price of KTM Bikes in Bangalore from 12th of sep 2017. Can anyone confirm from other parts of country if it is same there also? Also any reason for sudden bump in price by upto 10k??

I guess it's due to increase in cess post GST on bikes with capacity greater than 350cc, not sure though

I am planning a trip to Varanasi via Kolkata next month, during Diwali and am looking for accessories for the bike. Completely confused as to which saddle bag to buy. Ideally would have wanted to go with the Gods Triton X1- 75ltr, but I doubt that it would hit the exhaust. Anyone have any other suggestions? Also, I want to buy a windscreen, but most of them are too expensive and no guarantee that they would fit. One friend suggested to take the Fazer windscreen, which would come pretty cheap and KTM service guys can fit it for me. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

                    Hi,

yesterday i got Rynox Nomad V2.1 saddle bags for Duke. Have a look at them too.. Fits Perfect !

                      1) You can get beyond 30 kmpl on the highways if you riding at 90-100 kmph. My ODO shows an average mileage of 33 kmpl. But I do 90% of riding on the highways. My office is <3km from my home, so hardly have to commute in the city, but it gives me close to 20 kmpl in the city.

                      2) The rear brakes are normal, nothing extraordinary. And for a bike this big, they can't be relied on anyway. Use them mostly when you are trying to gently slow down. If possibly, try getting yourself used to using both brakes. The front brakes on this bike are too strong to be used in every situation.

                      3) Mostly only the chain cleaning and lubrication The chain is prone to attract dirt and needs cleaning. Usually I have read it needs to be done every 300 km or so. I personally didn't feel the need. I do it every 600 km or so, basically everytime I return from a weekend trip.

                      Cheers

Looks great! Did you try any other bigger options like some 48/50 ltr bag? I am not sure how much I can fit in 36 ltr. I carry my camera equipment along on most trips, so I was hoping to fit a 50 ltr. If not, this looks best solution.

No dude, i did not try a 50 ltr bag. One suggestion would be buy this + a tank bag for your camera.

The service mechanics would know better.
Finally found the issue..even it took the SVC guy sometime to figure it out...
It was the left leg guard which had come off from its bracket...bike never fell neither met with accident.. anyway he asked me to get it done from outside welding guy and gave me a new bolt for post welding use..

Thats quite ridiculous, and what guarantees will they give you that they wont use the outside work done excuse to void warranty, if at all something related turns up?
Its not an after market accessory, came with the bike so they need to own and fix it for you free of cost.
