  • Haggar - rear mud guear

    Hi guys!
I see that 25-30% of Duke owners removed haggar - rear mud guard,
so I am wandering if somebody wants to sell it. I do not need full set –
I need only that metal part - bracket.
I am trying to get it from service, but it is absolute hopelessly.
Every time they try to sell me old one for duke..2016 model, then
EVERY time literally they are telling me that in they catalogue both – new and old
have the same number and dealer every time sent them old.
I do not believe them, I know how people work. After a month they will tell me
    the same bullsh*t.
PS. Actually one my friends from Europe who bought duke390 wants to buy full set because KTM doesn't sell
Dukes with rear mudguard in Europe. It is available only here, in India.

Got the bike today in the afternoon
Went for a short spin in the evening and did around 20kms.
Loves how it starts pulling with a slight twist of the throttle.
Didn't cross 6k rpm and taking it slow for the time being.

However, i am facing an annoying sound coming from the front of the bike whenever i rev the bike. It is coming from the headlight area.
I tried to find the source and it seems the screw on the top of the headlight split area ( refer image) is rotating. I tried tightening it but it still rotates. I am not saying that its loose but i think the screw should not rotate. I cannot reach at the back to hold the nut while tightening the screw.
I had the same sh*t happened after off-roading. That screw i guess is to adjust level/angle of the light. There should be other option to fix. I was in service today and forgot to ask guys.

I know, but taking it slow for a few hundred kms. Also, the roads I rode on didn't allowed for use of even 5th gear. I will be taking longer ride in a day or two on the highways and open it a bit.

            Ride safe and have fun.

I took the bike to SVC. The issue with the headlight sound was diagnosed to the screw. The headlight was adjusted so high up that the may be the screw was touching the inside socket when revved. Hence caused the vibration sound. ( As told by SVC guys. No sound after doing that and the headlight throw is better).
The other sound issue was (and still there) from the radiator setup. The plastic casing holding the radiator fan and other related parts are joined by the bolts which seem to get loosed. So need to get them tightened after some time. SVC guys told that this is a high capacity engine and the vibration due to that causes it to get loose. I am not sure that this should happen but majority of the parts are fibre parts. Still has to look into it.
But the headlight sound is now vanished.
Also there is a constant sound coming from the breakpads. I got it cleaned at the SVC and it got sorted out at that time but after about 50kms it started again. So still have to deal with it. If some one got a solution to any of the above please share it.

              Thanks
              J

Ha, ha , ha so true. We must watch our bolts. This is why my rear mudguard broke. I lost screw during mu 1st ride.

A query regarding the radiator fan. Does it stay on most of the time ?

                        Okay. Thanks.

And when you reach home/destination and the fan is on, you you wait for it to switch off?
I waited for about 2-3mins and it didn't switched off, so I turned the bike off.

No need to wait for the fan to go off. Just switch the ignition off and let the engine cool by itself.

Today , while riding my bike I had to break suddenly. I hit the front brake so hard that my rear wheel lifted by 2 feet and the bike stood there like a rock. Today I got to know how good the brakes and metzelers are...

I have just done 100 kms as of now on my brand new beauty, but I am already researching about which engine oil to put in my first service. The company recommends motul 7100 but I am thinking of going for motul 300v 15w50 or shell advance ultra fully synthetic 15w50. However, I am not sure if this would void the warranty as these are not recommended. Is it okay if I go for any one of the oils, or should I refrain from doing so and just stick to the recommended oil...:-/
