Re: 2017 Duke 250
Yes among KTMs, Duke 250 is beginner friendly due to its comparatively linear power delivery.Originally posted by shibinam007 View Post

Why to start and run bike in 2nd gear? Is their any issue with the 1st gear in your bike?Originally posted by dhamodharan View PostHi all,

Re: 2017 Duke 250
If the in-gear acceleration is good then there is no such need. Every bike lags if the required gear is not applied. I felt the same in my CBR250R and in every speed breaker i slots to first gear, same is with my presently owned D390 too.Originally posted by dhamodharan View PostNot like that bro..while slow down for signal. That time I feel like picking up power is less.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Unless the bike is short geared, it wont accelerate much when started in 2nd gear.So i think whatever you mentioned is not an issue since D250 is not short geared.Originally posted by dhamodharan View PostHi all,

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Keep an eye out for the electrical s. They hadn't connected the wires to the rear indicators when they had delivered mine. Other than that, make sure the fluids are at the proper levels. Coolant, oil etc, Also, check if they have lubed the chain. Many other useful tips are in the the PDI thread at the top.Originally posted by kaush394 View PostHey guys , I'm taking the delivery of ktm duke 250 tomorrow.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Hello Guys,
Its been 1 week since I bought my D250 white and there are few things that I have I felt
Heating : I was hoping KTM to rectify the heating issues but its carried on to the 250 as well . But as I have read other ktm user's comments its quite a normal thing . I feel it more towards my left leg and now I am getting used to it . Also once the coolant temperature reach the max bar the fan kicks in with a not so pleasant sound . Have to live with it , as am not sure if it will be corrected during the first service.
Vibration : I feel the vibes mainly at the foot pegs but not a big issue once you start cruising.
Comfort: One of the best seating position and you can swiftly move in city traffic . Even pillion seat is comfortable though you have to hold on to grab rails at times.
Performance : Accelerates pretty quickly but much more linear is what I believe ( haven't ridden a 200 or 390 before :P). Exhaust node sound could have been more powerful .
Overall its a pretty good bike for daily commuting as well cruising on highways . Still have to explore a lot and see what it has to offer . Please let me know if you feel the same and if there is anything that I can do to solve these minor issues
Regards ,
S

Heating is common if you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic but it's not felt on the legs or thighs .Originally posted by Goonser4life View PostHello Guys,

Re: 2017 Duke 250
I highly doubt you can retrofit the 390 headlamp, but if you see in practical stance, its is not an upgrade. Instead you can try with much better bulbs from Philips and Osram. Also, you can get proper plug and play type led bulbs.Originally posted by Suraj_Jagdale View PostHello Guys,
I have recently bought Duke 250 Orange in Pune (Maharashtra) city, I am curious if the headlamps of Duke 390 (2017) will retro fitted to my new Duke 250 (2017)
Please let me know if anyone has done this ...
Thanks,
Suraj
Based on the feedback from 390 owners, it is not so great in terms of illumination.
Congrats for the new rideOriginally posted by Goonser4life View Post

Vibration near the foot peg will be mainly due to insufficient chain/sprocket lubrication and also due to incorrect chain slack. Please check with ASC.Last edited by dineshaugustin; 06-15-2017, 06:54 AM.

Duke 250 900 Kilometres ownership review
Hello fellow riders, my name is Nakul and I'm a software engineer based in Delhi. I recently bought my first ever motorcycle in the form of KTM Duke 250 about a month ago and have clocked about 900 kilometres on it. I went for the orange black color as it looks sportier to me than the white one. Speaking of my riding experience so far, I'm pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to ride. I feel like I've been riding it for ages. Read on below for more:
- Acceleration: Compared to my previous experience of riding my friends' Hero Passion and RE Thunderbird, the duke picks up pace rather quickly. For the first week, I was careful with the throttle and have gradually understood it's behavior. A slight twist of the throttle is all it takes to overtake regular cars and bikes in traffic. Most of the times I'm in 3rd and 4th gears which are good for puttering around in the city between 25-50 kmph. Respecting the break-in period, the top speed I have achieved so far is 123 kmph in 6th gear at about 7500 RPM. I just got the first free service done yesterday(apparently, only labour charges were free, the service cost me 1600 rupees). I'll push the bike more in the coming days to see how far it can go. Having said that, it can cruise comfortably all day at 100-110 kmph.
- Braking: I apply both brakes simulaneously and progressively, being gentler on the rear brake compared to the front one. In a couple of panic braking scenarios(blame potholes and idiot auto-rickshaw guy), the combined braking strategy worked well for me and the bike came to a stop quickly. Having said that, I might be wrong due to my limited experience as I haven't ridden any other bike with better brakes. I've read in reviews that the brakes could have been better, it should have had ABS etc. I guess If you ride sensibly, these brakes will suffice.
- Handling: The bike is very agile and changes directions quickly. It will inspire confidence in you to try to corner faster and lean more. The suspnsion soaks up bumps well, so no complaints here too.
- Looks & Sound: Right from the moment of riding out of the showroom to this day, I get asked by people questions like which bike is this? Is it the new Duke? Looks so cool etc. It's sharp and edgy design makes it seem like a much more premium category bike. Also the new side mounted exhaust sounds really cool especially at higher RPMs, in fact much better than what the duke 200's underbelly exhaust produces.
- Should you buy one? If you're a new rider like me, upgrading from a sub 150 cc commuter bike or are getting back to riding after a long gap, I would recommend this bike whole heartedly. On the other hand, If you have experience of riding a performance commuter 200cc bike, I would suggest you to go for the Duke 390.
As far as my intended usage is concerned, I plan on commuting to office about twice a week and doing long distance trips on my Duke on weekends(I'm also looking for a group/company of riders to ride along with in NCR area. Please guide me If you know one). Now time for some photos:
