Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

    Hello All,

Its been long time i had to update this thread but finally got time to do so, Now a proud owner of the GT650 details below.

    Timline:

June - Booked the bike on 1st June (Mayhem Black) and was told bike will be provided in 60 days
July - Couple of follow ups and the showroom had no ETA and not promising me anything. 60 days already passed by.

August (1st week)- I start reaching out to my cousin who owns a RE showroom but in a different state. He advised the wait time is 3-4 months easily.
    - So I just forgot about the whole thing and left at it. Suddenly i get a call saying he can give me a bike as the person who booked is not responding from days
    - I immediately check the procedures to get the bike from another state and doing a registration in bangalore and arranging the money.
    - Even though it would be a long ride approx 450+kms I was still ok as i badly needed the bike, Next day morning i got a call that the original buyer shows up paid the money and took the bike, **Sigh** at this point i just gave up. I called the HSR Peeps who i booked the bike from and they still do not have any ETA kept offering me different colors (Blue, black magic, chrome) etc. Which i politely denied.

    August (2nd week) -

    - I get the official message sent by RE to all the dealers that twins are going for a price hike soon. I was furious that i booked the bike more than 2 months ago still no ETA and i will end up paying the increased amount.

    - I asked my cousin to let me know if he can arrange one before the hike, he said he will try his best.
    - Got a call from him that there is a Ice queen coming from the plant to him and the guy whos booked it has cancelled it. He said its the most demanding colour and its the same as dr mayhem and you just need to change the tank to make it dr mayhem. I said give me 15-20 minutes and immediately did some research and told him that i would take it.

    - I started watching videos and pics and the more i looked at it i started loving this color, everyone i asked said white has an amazing color contrast with the black tone underneath. I was happy and at the back of my head I had an option to make it mayhem any time.

    - After 2 days i get a call that the shipment which was supposed to deliver the GT650 to the showroom was called back because of the floods. I did not have any words to say at this point it was like someone has a script for these scenarios. My cousin advised me to wait for a couple of more weeks.

    - I called the HSR peeps and checked again. I told them that the price will go through a price hike soon and will i get it before that? they said "we will have to check Sir"
    - So i told them that i want ICE Queen white can you change my booking to that? they said "Sir that will delay the booking further are you sure?" I said thats fine
    - To my luck i get a call on 14th August that there is an ice queen coming in and they can deliver in 3-4 days. I go make the make the payment and got the bike allotted to me.
    - I got the 5+5 year insurance for the bike
    - I had to run around for the RTO number on 15 and 16th as i wanted something specific [5508] and got that done.
    - 17th August I took the delivery of this beautiful ice queen white GT ( Frosty Queen). This was meant to be.

    Accessories Installed before the delivery-

    1. Fork Gaitor Kits
    2. Bash Plates
    3. Bar end Mirror kits
    4. Single touring seat with Cowl
    5. Short flyscreen.
    6. Paddock stand spools.
    7. Bike cover

I got 20% discount on all the accessories above and was not affected by the price hike.

Later bought a dismountable paddock stand from Grandpit stop and some riding gears from RE.

I completed a ride with the BLR twins group to Dandiganahalli Dam. And ODO is at 680km now and going to finish my first service tomorrow

      Congratulations Sir
Any words from your spouse for the Touring seat with cowl? Isn't shez against the decision that you made? because mine is already making thought for single seat.
The color schemes for CGT only applies to its fuel tank and single seat cowl. Side panels, tail and rest of the body remains black. One can switch colors just by replacing fuel tanks of different colors.

I think we need to make this thread more active, I see a lot of posts in the Interceptor thread and next to nothing here.

I have completed about 3600 kms and going to Danushkodi next week. So i should complete 5000 soon and I am planning to get the oil changed as I dont think the RE oil is good enough to stay for 10k KMS.

Anyone from Bangalore owning a twin. We have an active whatsapp group with strict rules and discuss only about rides and topics relevant to twins. We go atleast 2-3 rides in a month. Let me know if anyone wants to join.

I have done some minor tasteful mods, Installed Himalayan tailight to the GT and it looks as if it was made for this bike.

Didn't know a separate thread for GT existed, i have been posting in the Interceptor group till now, will be active here as well.
Here's my beauty, got her in july and have completed about 2200 kms till now. I had pulsar 180 before so found the aggressive riding stance to be more comfortable than the upright of the Interceptor as pulsar also had lean forward riding stance.

Hello all so I have booked a Dr. Mayhem and i was wondering how lenient are service guys with respect to mods like changing of turn indicators and tailights? The present ones are not to my liking.

Well they are pretty lenient and have a don't care attitude unless something happens with your bike, then they can say it's because of aftermarket accessories. Make sure no wires are cut at all at the time of installation. And if by chance something happens and you have to take your bike to the service center then remove everything and put stock parts back so that they don't know about the modifications
                Peace

Wow ! Can you post some pics for that ? And was it a straight plug & play fit or did you make any modifications to achieve this ?

                    Here you go.

It is a direct swap ,However you need to cut the himalayan light case a bit to ensure perfect fir. It took hardly 15 minutes.

                    Cost:
                    1450 /- Tail light
                    200 /- Painted it black
200 /- Installation at JC road BLR

I did not want to swap the indicators to round ones as well, It will look bad with just a round tailight.

More than the looks this one is more practical, Stocks ones are meh especially on the GT

It's been 23 days since i booked a Dr Mayhem Conti GT and the showroom has no idea when it will arrive, I've been getting really annoyed because they told me it will take 15 days max for the motorcycle to come and it's 23 days now. They say the motorcycle is billed at the factory(whatever that means) long back and it has still not come!

The dealership tells RE the requirement of bikes. It is up-to them to honor it and send. Raise a support ticket with RE, they'll get back to you with the details.
