When I tried sitting this way, my knees did not touch the cylinder-head guard. They were aligned with the tank and a couple of inches short of the head-guard. Also, another thing that I do is to ensure that I have the balls of my feet on the foot-pegs, rather than the middle or the heels of my feet.
I'll keep this in mind while riding from now on, on highway rides i sit away from the tank, recently went on a 300 km trip one side and had no pain or whatsoever. I'll implement that on city rides as well

Gt650's rider triangle is not as aggressive as likes of sports bikes or bikes like KTM RCs or even R15s for that matter so all you have to do is bend your elbows, hug the tank. Would be weird at the beginning but you will get used to it. Happy Riding.
The thing is a part of knee is near the engine head and the remaining part touches the tank but not enough to hug it. I am 6'3" and i look like a giant on the motorcycle with those puny tyres. Maybe in the future i plan to change to 17inch wheels with 150/70-17 tyres so that the height remains close to stock and opt for Sport Demons which are imo better than the Phantom Sportcomp which come with the motorcycle.

That's true, whatever you do you can't hug the tank properly, i'm 5'7 and my knees remain below the tank, and all i can hug are the engine guard rails.

Hi Guys, while booking a Conti is it necessary to get the Mandatory 5 yrs insurance from the dealership the one which they recommend or can I opt for some preferable Insurance vendors?

Booked a BS-6 Continental GT at the OMR showroom in Chennai back on December 21st. Looks like the bike is ready and being sent for registration formalities shortly, based on which, I should have it by 30/01. Fingers crossed!

Will keep you guys updated on the showroom experience, and ownership experience thereafter.

Hey, everyone! Finally got my BS-6 Ice Queen. Took delivery of the bike on 07/02. As mentioned in the quoted post, the bike was to be delivered on 30/01 originally. While the bike had already arrived at the showroom by then, it couldn't be registered at the RTO here in Chennai as the BS-6 Twins had not received the required STA approvals yet. This was what was actually taking time, but the folks at the showroom (at OMR, Chennai) were quite patient about my queries and kept me posted at reasonable intervals. For anyone looking to purchase a new RE in Chennai, please do approach this showroom. You can ask for one, Mr. Don Bosco, and he will be able to help you out and give you a smooth experience. If you want further details, please do not hesitate to DM me.

On 07/02, I finally got the call to pick up the bike and I informed the folks that I would be at the showroom at around 12pm to pick up the bike. The entire process was smooth, but it did take about 1.5 hours before I was finally given the bike keys. I've been unable to contain my smile since then! Will be posting ownership reports in due course of time.

Congrats Bro! I did my booking today. [emoji1] If you see my query above about the Insurance thing, the dealership was not ready to let me get the insurance but after some argument from my sude they FINALLY agreed that I can take responsbility of insurance of my choice [emoji28] Whats your take on it, the insurance they provide is way too costly as per market standards. Some commission involved obviously i guess

Congratulations on the booking, man! Did they tell you when they’re delivering the bike? And which color have you booked?

I never knew about the insurance thing. But I didn’t want the hassle of hunting for my own insurance for the motorcycle just yet, and I just went ahead and took the insurance they offered. How much of a difference are you seeing?

Thanks! So they told a waiting time of 2months max. I booked the Ice Queen White.

Yeah! Normally I dont mind insurance being handled by the dealership but a quick online search for quote gave me around 8k INR of difference which seemed alot to me and when I asked them about the Policy details like IDV and stuff they were not able to give those details which made me question their motives.

BTW, the overall test ride and booking experience was sub-par I would say. The test mule that they had was not maintained properly, the clutch was hard, the gear shifts were not smooth, the tires wobbled on uneven roads, the rep was not all that knowledgable and responsive when asked about few details, they were only keen on completing the booking. I had done a fair amount of research myself before walking in so I didnt mind all this but who ever walks in without knowing anything about the bike specifics here is going to have a bitter experience.

Which showroom did you take the test ride at?

Also, Royal Enfield is taking customer complaints and suggestions pretty seriously. I tweeted them about the delay, to which they responded asking for my contact details. They called me within an hour of providing the details and they were diligent about following up thereafter. So, if you found the showroom experience unsatisfactory, you could try reporting it.

                        Rudraa Motors, Anna Nagar.

Yeah I know about RE how they handle customer feedback, I was just thinking to do a complete walkin to delivery feedback with RE as I didnt want to sound nagging from time to time LOL!

Anyway, got a callback from Rudraa Motors they sounded concerned after I gave a Test Drive experience rating of 3. Told them what I faced like the Test mule not maintained properly, how the CS guy was not prepared for some minor technical questions etc.

I will for sure escalate matters through right channels if required. I am good at that. Btw, happy riding. Do share your feedback about the bike whenever time permits. Thanks.

Agreed! I knew they would have a margin but 8k is like way too much even for the CONVENIENCE factor which they told I would get. [emoji28] After some arguments and the sales reps running back nd forth to the managers cabin and me finally agreed to handover the Insurance responsbility to me. [emoji854] They still are reluctant about this whole thing first they were demanding like "YOU HAVE TO TAKE INSURANCE FROM US" now they are asking to consider. Not sure what else they have for me in store. Lets see. [emoji28]

You can always change the dealership if you want if you aren't happy with them. They try to force the insurance as they make a good margin on it, only Enthusiasts like us who know about insurance are able to save some bucks from getting it from outside, 90% people pay whatever the dealership charges them.
Are you getting any accessories with the bike? Because RE gives us 15% and 20% coupons with the purchase, i hope your dealer has told you this.

Will be posting feedback soon. I've done only about 200 kms on the bike, and it might be a little too soon for the feedback.

Good thing that you gave them the feedback. I don't know how far they'll go to change their ways, but at least we know now that the feedback did reach them.

As an enthusiast, I had literally no clue about the insurance. Rather, I did not pay attention to the insurance at all. I was in such a hurry to get the bike that I did not look at the nuances of it. I'm stuck with the RE insurance now.

Thanks. In my booking receipt its mentioned 90 days but would like to know if it might get post or preponed. The wait is killin me. [emoji28]
