Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Congrats on the motorcycle! What is the price increase for the BS6 engine?Originally posted by Insidious View PostI'm getting back to riding motorcycles after nearly 6 years! And in all my life, I never thought I'd be getting back to riding on an RE - I've always been more of a sport-bike fanatic. That said, I could not help but fall in love with the Continental GT!
Booked a BS-6 Continental GT at the OMR showroom in Chennai back on December 21st. Looks like the bike is ready and being sent for registration formalities shortly, based on which, I should have it by 30/01. Fingers crossed!
Will keep you guys updated on the showroom experience, and ownership experience thereafter.

Ohlins had launched progressive springs for the Interceptor/Continental GT for 18XXX/- the last time i thought of upgrading, but postponed it after looking at the price. The so so commited riding position and the soft suspension is more evident on the Continental GT in corners than the Interceptor.Originally posted by Vikas Rao View PostThe suspension is too soft and will bottom out even at lower speeds. This is not an issue as long as you are mindful, I am planning on upgrading to a set on progressive springs, if I can find them.

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
I still don't know where it is being sold in India and the price was a direct conversion of its dollar value, the cost will be much more when you factor in shipping and import duties. A progressive suspension setup would also cost about the same but would be much more effective on a day to day basis.Ohlins had launched progressive springs for the Interceptor/Continental GT for 18XXX/- the last time i thought of upgrading, but postponed it after looking at the price. Here in Chennai, the price increase is around 10K. The current OTR for the CGT Ice Queen BS-6 is 331057.Originally posted by Abhishekilke View PostCongrats on the motorcycle! What is the price increase for the BS6 engine?
In fact, I got my hands on the current price list for all the bikes for Chennai showrooms, and I'm uploading it here. Take a look!

dash-cam in your car, or can take SAFELY photographs of instances where these riders

Any idea when the delivery of the BS6 would commence in Chennai, waiting for forever [emoji58]Originally posted by Insidious View PostHere in Chennai, the price increase is around 10K. The current OTR for the CGT Ice Queen BS-6 is 331057.

Here in rajasthan the road tax is 42000! And that too on the black magic variant, Man i feel cheated now, paying 20,000₹ extra! What's the point of living in the same country and paying different amount of taxes, that implies on many other things as well.Originally posted by Insidious View PostHere in Chennai, the price increase is around 10K. Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Well, I've been waiting for over a month now, and I expect deliveries will commence this week. But I can't be too sure about it.Originally posted by abhi1991 View PostAny idea when the delivery of the BS6 would commence in Chennai, waiting for forever [emoji58]
When did you book your vehicle?
Well, I agree. In some states, the road tax is exorbitantly high, where in other states it's a lot lower. (And somehow, IMO, there's never any substantial difference in the quality of the roads in any of the states). However, we are moving towards "One India - One Tax" and we might be paying the same taxes all over pretty soon.Originally posted by yashasvi View PostHere in rajasthan the road tax is 42000! Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
So it's been 800kms of riding with the Continental GT and i have been having fun, i have installed AEW exhausts which sound good and louder than stock but not loud enough to alert the cops. I have also changed the stock mirrors to bar ends from AliExpress. I am thinking of customising the seat or buying a seat cover for Saharaseats which they say have extra foam for your bottom.
Since the last 10 days or so i've been having wrist pain in both my hands and i am suspecting the commited riding position to be the suspect, any pointers on how i can reduce the pain?

Are you making sure your elbows are bent while riding? The reason I ask is because I’ve seen too many riders locking their elbows, leaving their shoulders shrugged while riding. In these cases, most of your weight, especially when braking or leaning forward would be on your wrists and elbows, stressing them a lot.Originally posted by Abhishekilke View PostSo it's been 800kms of riding with the Continental GT and i have been having fun, i have installed AEW exhausts which sound good and louder than stock but not loud enough to alert the cops. If you already are riding with bent elbows, try making sure that you screw your armpits in when holding the bar, kind of like trying to break the handle bar, but not a whole of force. You’ll feel your lats being engaged and some pressure of your wrist.
It takes a while to get used to, but gets easy once you make a conscious effort the first few times. Helped me a great deal. Hope it helps you too.-------------------

I think you're right. I have been bending my elbows only on highway runs and did not realise that the key to no wrist pains is to do exactly that!Originally posted by Insidious View PostAre you making sure your elbows are bent while riding? Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Also to add to the above point is to learn to hug the tank with your legs that would shift the weight from your wrists. Gt650's rider triangle is not as aggressive as likes of sports bikes or bikes like KTM RCs or even R15s for that matter so all you have to do is bend your elbows, hug the tank. Would be weird at the beginning but you will get used to it. Happy Riding.Originally posted by Abhishekilke View PostI think you're right. I am yet to book one, hell they dont even offer a test mule to check the weight and ergonomic of the bike to see if it suits for me or not, they said they will bring out the BS4 test mule once they get notification of the BS6 launch. Still waiting on an update. From what I heard deliveries might commence by Mid Feb to Begin of March [emoji58]

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Are you looking for a BS-6 test mule? Or a will a BS-4 do? Because I know for a fact that they have one at the OMR showroom in Chennai. Have you already tried that? If you haven't, I can give you the name of a contact.Originally posted by abhi1991 View PostI am yet to book one, hell they dont even offer a test mule to check the weight and ergonomic of the bike to see if it suits for me or not, they said they will bring out the BS4 test mule once they get notification of the BS6 launch. Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
But the gt's riding triangle is kind of weird, your knees touches the cylinder head guard, so when you try to hug the tank, instead you hug the cylinder head guard, and i am only 5'7. Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Are you sitting far enough back on the seat? Ideally, my riding position is half-way between the front and the middle of the the seat and not pressed up against the end of the tank (this of course will vary slightly with a person's height, but I would recommend you try slightly varying positions starting from here to find your comfort). When I tried sitting this way, my knees did not touch the cylinder-head guard. They were aligned with the tank and a couple of inches short of the head-guard. Also, another thing that I do is to ensure that I have the balls of my feet on the foot-pegs, rather than the middle or the heels of my feet.Originally posted by yashasvi View PostBut the gt's riding triangle is kind of weird, your knees touches the cylinder head guard, so when you try to hug the tank, instead you hug the cylinder head guard, and i am only 5'7.
