I don't think there should be any waiting for gt as the bike sells in very few numbers, what i did in my case was to call all the dealerships from my home, enquired about the bike availability and got it within a week. I think you should start dialing and do get the insurance from outside
    Peace

The waiting period for my motorcycle was a little over a month, but that was only because RE was transitioning from BS-IV to BS-VI and had stopped interim deliveries. I booked on Dec 21st and got my bike on Feb 6th. I believe that the wait period should be lesser now, and definitely far lesser than 90-days. I would suggest that you hound the dealership about this - get them to commit a time frame.

Oh, there is a wait for GT. You are right about the motorcycle selling in fewer numbers, of course. However, for this same reason, they receive fewer CGTs on the consignments. They actually receive more Interceptors than CGTs (as shared with me by an employee of RE).

      ---------------------

On a side note, has anyone switched the stock lamp bulb on their CGT to an OSRAM Nightbreaker? Is there a noticeable difference? Are there any better bulbs available?
I am not looking at changing the unit, but I am looking to change the bulb to something brighter but with the same stock power input and ECE?

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

        Hello everyone.

I'm posting after a very long time on xbhp. This time, I'm asking for some info on behalf of my friend.

        1) Is it possible to fit a center stand to the CGT 650? I've seen online that it is offered as an aftermarket accessory but the showroom says it's not possible.

        2) How about conversion to tubeless tyres? What is the price and what is the procedure involved?

          1) I don't believe that the center stand is being offered as an aftermarket accessory for the CGT. I've checked on the website, and it isn't offered. What is your purpose for the center stand? Because, I believe that you should be able to make do with a paddock stand as well.

          2) There are tubeless tyre conversion kits available on the market, but they are not going to be inexpensive. There's one available from Outex (Link here) which costs a little under 13K. I think the procedure involves sealing the spokes on the rim with a special tape and adhesive. However, I am not sure about the integrity of this conversion. Perhaps someone else on the forum can throw a bit more light on this.

I am also looking into what I heard about tubeless rims (with spokes) that goes on the export versions of the bike. Will keep everyone posted on this thread if I do find out more.

            1. The center stand is available at the service center, it's same for interceptor and gt, you can get it if you want.
            2. Check Google and youtube, there are many videos available for that. It cost approx 20,000 so it's better to get alloys instead, RE will be launching alloys in future

People are opting for LEDs instead of halogen bulbs to save their batteries, i haven't seen a single case where osram bulb was opted

I don't know who told you this but the Export version does not come with tubeless spoke rims, a single tubeless spoke rim will cost more than two tubed spoke rims. If you want to convert your rims to tubeless you can use 3M 5200 Marine Grade Adhesive to seal the rivets and 3M 4411 Tape. This is basically an inexpensive version of Outex. Outex uses the same stuff, just that they have rebranded it and increased the markup on their kit.

Apologies. I seem to have been misinformed then. I read this on this thread here.

If converting to tubeless using Outex or the method mentioned by you, what are the odds of a leakage? Has anyone seen such cases?

Direct plug and play, no modification needed. But white light is ineffective during rains and fog

Chances of leakage are close to NIL if you do it properly, many riders from outside India do the same with their dirt bikes and Adventure tourers and they haven't had a problem with leaking air. I am going to be doing it till March end or so by myself, will be updating once I've done it.

Guys quick question, should we make the full payment before the bike reaches the showroom? The dealership say that the bike in transit and I will only get it after RTO is done. Its urgent please confirm.

Unless, you've agreed to pay the full cost upfront. This is why, there is a nominal booking fee, which would mean you get to see, touch, smell and eat the bike and once you pay the full amount, it'll be handed over to you, post TEMP registration and insurance. The bike will be handed over to you, once your dues are cleared, either through full payment or financed. Basically, the showroom must get their payment in full for them to hand you over the keys.

                              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Exactly what I thought, BUT as per dealership RE policy mandates that I dont get to touch, feel or do anything to my future bike unless I pay the full amount and wait for it to come out of RTO. Its not even a BLIND DATE, its BLIND MARRIAGE.
