Unluckily, he can't.Originally posted by haxor View PostSue them if its troubling you so much.
File a case in Consumer court!
He didn't get his bike serviced from TVS. Even got a TCI replaced by a local mechanic.
@pranav
I think all you can do is to try and convince them to do things under warranty if anything required to be changed. Anyways, I can't understand why your problem is taking so long to be getting solved. Did you go to the SVC and ask them to solve it before just shooting the mail? Or you're only relying in your mech?Join my facebook Page: Life On 2-Wheels | Blog: Life On 2-Wheels

Hey some one had earlier replied in this thread about getting the Apache in Bangalore directly from the warehouse...
I am getting an Apache RTR 180
Can anyone tell from which showroom can I get to pick up the bike directly from the warehouse and what about the fitting of the accessories and all,...Will they b fitted in the warehouse itself or should I have to rake the bike from the warehouse to the dealer to fit the accessories ??
And what are the chances that the dealers will allow me picking the bike directly from the warehouse??Last edited by sujithbvm; 05-16-2011, 06:08 PM.

@garry and haxor-no i still have to go the SVC but this will be my last effort to set my bike right!
today in the afternoon after a 30 kms trip the engine was burning hot and i could hera the trrr trrr sound(most probably tappet sound) now i got my bike serviced just two weeks ago and checked a week ago.how can this start???
BTW are these symptoms of a faulty TCI unit(its puffed up) and a faulty spark plug???

From what I see,your bike is running rich(colour is black)Speak Less,Speak Wise!

Is the TCI replaced by your mech genuine TVS OEM?Originally posted by pranav_salieri View Post@garry and haxor-no i still have to go the SVC but this will be my last effort to set my bike right!

And, when you mention anything about service , do mention that the service was done by local mechanic, not SVC. It will draw a clearer picture in front of the readers.
And, from the last pic, I don't think that your bike is running so rich that you would have problems because of it. IMO, tuning part ain't the culprit in your case.Last edited by Garry_Menace; 05-17-2011, 01:03 AM.Join my facebook Page: Life On 2-Wheels | Blog: Life On 2-Wheels

Hey guys, got myself an Apache rtr 180 on 29th april.
Already done 900kms till now and in love with this amazing machine!I want to thank all the members on this thread for helping me out on making my decision to get one as its my first bike.
I want to ask is it true that when the bike is new the disc brakes makes some noise especially the rear one, as i have got first servicing done and still 'sometimes' i hear a "chi-chi" noise and am not sure where its coming from?i havent taken the bike above 50km/hr(except one time after first service and wanted to see the real potential..
).

And, that squeeking sound you hear from the discs is just because of dirt. Nothing to be worried about. Actually the roto petal discs of RTR are quite prone to dirt/dust particles. The sound will vanish if you rubb the disc pads with sand paper.

@garry-yeah will keep that in mind.it looks to be genuine only(the tci unit).
if the bike is running rich will it effect performance??? my mech(local) said that the spark plug(shown in the picture) is faulty and replaced it.he showed me that the white part of the spark plug is rotating (it seems it should not rotate).is my spark pluf faulty??

Thanx garry. I am a beginner to all this DIY stuff so will try it out sometime after exams. And yeah am an engineer too in the making although a petroleum engineerOriginally posted by Garry_Menace View PostWelcome to Tribe Apache

(Remember the post where discussion was going on that everybody is an engineer nowadays). Also i want to confirm is it okay to keep the idle rpm set at 1k??does it have any effects on mileage or acceleration or top speed??
And when can i go for an oil change as in an upgrade from already existing tvs tru4??what are the best options for me??

Yup nothing should be loose on the spark plug. If the white part is rotating then it is damaged.Originally posted by pranav_salieri View Post@garry-yeah will keep that in mind.it looks to be genuine only(the tci unit).

I am not sure about how good the SVC is at your place, but if I were you then I would take my bike there and get the following checked (and replaced if necessary):
1. One way clutch
2. TCI unit
Just make sure you visit SVC on weekdays... they is usually less customers and give more attention. And make friends

Set the idle rpm between 1300-1500rpm,setting it @1k rpm will lead to lesser life of engine!AFAIK,it wont affect mileage, acceleration or top speed, please correct me if I am wrong.Originally posted by Maverickk View PostAlso i want to confirm is it okay to keep the idle rpm set at 1k??does it have any effects on mileage or acceleration or top speed??

As for now,stick to mineral oils.Look for Shell,Elf Moto4 gold,Motul oils in W40 grade.

Dude thanx for informing me regarding the rpm thing!Originally posted by Drifty View PostSet the idle rpm between 1300-1500rpm,setting it @1k rpm will lead to lesser life of engine!AFAIK,it wont affect mileage, acceleration or top speed, please correct me if I am wrong.

. I am gonna set the rpm to 1.3k the next time i'll take out my bike. I had no idea it will reduce engine life!
Do castrol have no mineral oil to offer which can be used?and after how many kms should one shift to semi or fully synthetic?i have doubts regarding the differences between them and their use.
And is it necessary to change the clutch freeplay from its factory settings 'cos after first service those svc guys din't touch the setting?Last edited by Maverickk; 05-17-2011, 02:32 PM.

Never heard that 1K RPM could harm the engine even for the longer run. And, I doubt it would. Anyways, I am not sure
. The reason I would have suggested 1.2K-1.4K RPM is that it reduces the cold start problem.
Castrol does, but because of huge number of duplicate products, its hard to find genuine castrol products in market. So, if you aren't a pro in that, avoid it. If you can find Motul, then its even better than castrol or the best I should say. Else you can use Shell etc. as already suggested by Drifty.Originally posted by Maverickk View PostDude thanx for informing me regarding the rpm thing!

For switching to Semi-Synthetic, some people even switch to SS quite early like around 1.5K-2.5K kms., but its always recommended to use Mineral oil till 5K kms. and I would recommend you the same.
