    • In between all this debate forgot to mention one interesting experience.

I had to renew my insurance so went to Aditi TVS,Noida today.Thought it would be a good idea to test-ride the ABS too.

First as soon as they got to know that I already have the 180,the manager and sales person already lost interest.Started to make lame excuses this and that and what not.I asked them..'Bike bechni hai ya nahi?' (whether to sell the bike or not?) and I said I am considering buying the ABS.Somehow, the salesman agreed for the test-ride.

Now,there were two guys already ahead in queue for the ABS test-ride.So,I let them ride first. Both of them were grinning when they came back like they have hit some jackpot. Now,it's my turn and bummer! I see the ABS has been switched off! I asked the guy there to switch it ON to which he refused to do anything. So,I am taking the RTR180 ABS test-ride with ABS off...

He says,we have turned it off because people come and try to skid the bike and you will too.Yes,they will of course try to see if the ABS works or not! Why the bloody f**k will anyone in their right frame of mind pay 8k extra for something that looks exactly the same as the normal 180?

Managed to turn the ABS ON and took the bike for a short ride.Tried to brake as hard as possible on wet and muddy patches using only the front-brake.And I am mightily impressed.Even though it still comes with 'crap' instead of rubber but there's never a moment of terror.Totally worth it!

        LMAO!!

They acted just like my college people. The Vice-Principal sent us a bulk mail with a line as "those who didn't get this mail, please mail me your details again" Stupid people.

Anyways, I won't be in Delhi for the 3-day weekend, so, won't be able to come online. Happy Independence Day to all in advance.

          • So i've officially been a lurker for quite some time, and registered some days ago since i've been on the hunt for my first bike, i wasn't ever too keen because i was scared that i would one day get an ego boost and that would lead to my downfall but i've now decided (almost) on the apache rtr 180 abs.
I've got to know shivank who is in my college and will hopefully meet him, get to know more about the bike and just ride the bike, since i've never ridden any apache or hell, any bike apart from the P150 and 180.
So i tend to do my research and so my mind was telling me to get the bike, so i've decided to get it.

I'm being quoted prices around 87-88k both in UP and delhi, and a waiting time of 7 days, not exactly a waiting time since i dont see many people who have booked it, but still it's unavailable and all.

Any thing i should be wary of, and that 88k includes helmet and a seat cover apart from standard thingies.

I'll follow a bit of the traditional and a bit of motoman's technique, smooth and hard acceleration but wont take it beyond 7-8k rpm and get the oil replaced at around 50-60kms

            P.S: Love teh forum

actually was a bit confused when i read somewhere that due to dust and mud the abs stops working and the SVC' can't treat it, so was a bit confused, but i think i'll take the plunge :P

Using NGK Iridium IX spark plug (CR7EIX for RTR) along with splitfire cable (a cable connects the spark plug with the coil, you know) will give a slight increase in engine response (acceleration part), smoother ride and better cold starts. Top speed won't increase, not sure about any jump in FE. Only be used after running in the engine, after say 3000km. Costs are on a higher side though. The Plug+splitfire would cost around 1200 INR Not sure if this mod will void warranty.

Be wary of Aditi TVS. I won't let you ride my bike!! Otherwise, you wont go for the ABS..I am telling you right now it's in the worst possible condition.

Yes,if the reviews are for mechanics at Aditi TVS then you are very correct there. Forget a safety gizmo like ABS they have no clue about disc-brakes as well. 6 times(I have been counting) they have opened the whole rear-brake assembly in front of me,fixed it and promised that there would be no 'chuuuuuuuuun-chuuuuuuuuuuun' noise now and before I reach home...'chuuuuunnnn-chuuuunnnn' starts.

I was once thinking to change the spark plugs to iridium ones. But most of the guys here suggested to keep away as performance or whatsoever gains are negligible. And then you have to change the ignition coils Split-fire wires or something like that.

'The twin-electrode Bosch spark plug that the RTR uses is already very good'--this is what I have been suggested by senior members.

                      Stick to stock!

Hmm.. i've been looking for your bike but can't find it in the stands, it's in the stand in front of e block right? and i spotted some 5 white rtr's but not yours :|

I know you're saying that it's in the worst possible state, so i would like to ride it and see how worse can it get, because i've ridden my friend;s horribly maintained p180 for more than 50kms and the vibes are :| my legs shake after getting down from the bike :|

Plus i've made my mind and when i have, i get it, unless there's a big big problem.

Also, i've made a point in my mind to never get it serviced from aditi TVS, since you told me many things about them and i read another member's posts here saying he did not have a good experience with them.

However you said they're pretty nice while buying and all, so i might buy if they give a better price(which i doubt)

How can the improper tuning occur? Had talked to SVC during 2nd servicing that bike struggled a bit at 60 kmph, and they had rectified the issue. Could that have done something? How to check the air filter clogging? Air pressure is proper, I use Nitrogen instead of air. Even then could You mention the correct pressure? I have done serious running, never took bike above 50km/hr in first 1000km and 65km/hr till 2000km.
