Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Tighten the chain with given chain freeplay in the manual this will resolve your issue of chain getting stiff when you ride for longer duration. I got my chain sproket changed at 10K wich was duration of around 5months and i had ridden along the mountains on longer rides guess due to that else in city rides it can last for 15K easily. The SVC's tend to tighten up the chain beyond the recommended free play. I guess the freeplay is 2cm at the center of the chain. just make note of it and check it manually while mechanic is doing the chain adjustments. all will be fine. And for EOL check just see that the rear axle bolt is at the end of the settings than probably you need to change. If sprockets are not so worn out you can ask them to remove a chain link and readjust. This will give some bit more life to your Chain-Sproket set. But only do if its not worn out.Originally posted by apachefan View PostBLR-RAMESWARAM-KODIAKANAL-BLR http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/3...ing-hills.html

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
What kind of size is that? Go for 90/80/17 size. Try the new MRF tyres which can found in the news section. They have both front and back tyres for the RTR180.Originally posted by bhadoriabtp View PostI want to get my front tyre changed, I want a 100/90/17 tire ,will it work well or give some problems to me, what are options available in market and at what price.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I would suggest to not go for decarbonization unless You fully trust the SVC guy. I had gone for the same on suggestion of My default SVC, and they screwed up My engine block pretty bad, which led to many oil leak issues later on and reboring of screw fittings of engine block costing about 7k.Originally posted by hemnath View PostHi how much it costed you to fix the head gasket oil leak issue. because when i enquire the svc, they say i have to change the bore and the head needs to be decarbonized.
Luckily the other SVC I switched to later on was good and handled it properly.
You were lucky to get it sorted out so easily and at least explained all this from start. I got the clarification after I went to a different SVC.Originally posted by apachefan View PostThey charged 150 for labour; 50 for Anabond and 25 for miscellaneous charges. I was told that the one TVS uses out of the factory to seal the head cannot withstand higher temperatures and this is a very common issue for Apache. They told that Anabond works well and should fix the oil leak. This is sort of an experiment I should say since I was asked to inform them immediately if I notice oil again. So far I have ridden 500 km and noticed no leaks. Kept my fingers crossed though.Apache RTR 180 Bike Parts CatalougeOriginally posted by MirhawkI couldn't repair the Brakes, so I just made the Horn more louder!

My head gasket started leaking again, but not as much as it did earlier. I have to get it checked again.Originally posted by Mirhawk View PostYou were lucky to get it sorted out so easily and at least explained all this from start. I got the clarification after I went to a different SVC.
On a side note, I've changed the oil seals for the gear lever and sprocket since they were leaking oil pretty bad. SVC brushed off the issue saying I've used too much oil to lube the chain. Took the bike to my dad's mechanic. After opening the sprocket casing, it was pretty evident where all that oil was coming from. I don't understand why my bike has so many oil leak issues. The engine feels good though. It still responds as it did out of the showroom.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello,
I have some problem related to chain, and these happen sometimes:
1."Cut" sound when you upshift
2. Noise when you release the throttle. Can be heard going on a downhill with neutral and ignition off
3. During stop and go traffic, after downshifting to 1st gear and changing to 2nd, it sometimes get stuck at neutral. Have to upshift one more time.
Got it serviced last week at the SVC, but still no improvement.

It could be your clutch. How is your clutch play? Get it adjusted according to the recommended level.Originally posted by nishanthhh View PostHello,

I could be wrong, though. Let's wait to hear some senior speak

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Best bet is Arunagiri TVS near Bommanahalli. If you can go further I suggest Jayanagar branch(Forgot nameOriginally posted by swift View PostGuys,
Could anyone please help me to find a good bike detailer in Bangalore-preferebly within 7 km from electronic city.
).
Electronic City TVS are also ok but service isn't good(I actually rate bad the way they serviced my friend's RTR160).
PS: 2 months back I bought RTR160 from Indian TVS at Bellandur. They are ok but triple check pricing. Service is also better there. The only reason I dont suggest this because their registration is in Koramangala RTO(worst RTO), I haven't received my RC even after 2months and it might take another 2months according to SVC.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello. Can you please tell me if this will be a direct fit for the RTR 180 2010 (Older) model?Originally posted by JS16 View PostChanged my rear tyre from Zapper C to Zapper S. Size upgraded from 120/80/17 to 130/70/17. I recon 140/70/17 or even 140/60/17 will be a good fit. No modifications needed. The grip is absolutely outstanding. Cornering is a breeze now.

Thank you.
Mechanically the motorcycle is the same. So yes, direct fit!
Better go for masseters. Even better what mrf claims.

I'm very much interested in those tyres. Planning to get change both front and the rear together. Sorry if this has been asked/mentioned earlier, has anybody tried those tyres on the RTR? a better question, are the tyres in the market? :POriginally posted by JS16 View PostHi,

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hehe Totally understand. But you can save a lot of money with 120/80 sections. Those tyres are mentioned on their website, should be available soon or maybe already are.Originally posted by Prithvi R View PostI'm very much interested in those tyres. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hello everyone! Wish you all a very happy new year! Hope everyone is doing fine. My 180 is doing great. Had to change the speedo meter sensor cable as the speedo was acting funny, was charged around ~600 which I think is high. I was using TVS fully synthetic oil but this time got the shell ultra with pure plus technology. I have used the old shell ultra a year or two back but this time I did feel the difference. After 1000km & 2 Mumbai-Pune ride, I can FEEL the engine performs better on longer ride. Looking forward for more longer rides (bored doing Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai & around from last six months).
