His observations were as follows:-

1.the engine oil level was critically low ( i had him drain it and fill Shell Advance AX7 10W40) .approx 700-800 Ml of oil came out which is feel is not critically low.
Note-previous oil was Motul 5100 was was filled exactly 2100 kms back.i feel should this oil should last at least 3k to 4K right?
2.engine head was leaking oil(pics attached if anyone can confirm)
    3. carburetor diaphram is gone and lot of other rubber parts of the carb(which he named but i cannot re-call) were worn out.
4.some engine key (the metal part attached in the pic) dropped when he drained the engine oil.and this "engine key" he claimed is an important part and he said he has to open up the engine to check if everything has been placed correctly.he also asked me to take this "engine key" to the authorized service center where i previously serviced my bike and ask them what this part was. He wants to hear what they have to say about this part.
5.the engine is overheating and not operating at normal temperature.

now the million dollar question is whom to trust? do i get my bike serviced from this mechanic or is he bluffing? should i take it straight to the TVS SVC?

please apache pundits share your thoughts.
    1) No engine oil would last for 4k kms on an air cooled engine. Even if it did, would not have the desired engine feel as it has lost its viscosity already. Change intervals anywhere between 1800 kms to 2500 kms at the most.

    2) change the head gasket when you are getting it serviced. Oil leaks is common in the rtr's.

    3) Replace the diaphragm and other rubbers parts if need be.

    4) Already answered previously with pics. Not sure if engine needs to be opened.

    5) Engine oil and carb could be the culprit as you have already identified issues with it. Once you have fixed these, get the bike tuned to optimum settings according to your location. Engine heating maybe due to worn our diaphragm and other parts in the carb. Use Mineral based oil. While 10w40 would be the ideal engine oil i would suggest, but for better heat handling use 20w40 grade. Avoid synthetic oil if possible.

Coming to your million dollar question, i had lost all my trust in the ASC's. They would only charge you heaps and not fix the problem in most of the cases (unless u know someone personally). Outside mechanics also cant be trusted easily unless you have a long history of friendship with them. If you are in Bangalore i can help with a trusted mechanic i know. In your cases, seems like (purely my opinion) he is trying to scare you into a major job. Coz for engine work they would charge a good amount on labour, gaskets have to be replaced and your cost of service is only gonna increase.

Its better to change the cracked rubber. The AF mixture might start to leak out of the cracks. You will find a drop in FE if the cracks are deep.
I got mine changed after 5 years of ownership.

Yes get it replaced. No it is not rethe carb diaphragm. It will be inside the carb and not visible.

Does anyone have an idea when the updated RTR 180 will launch or if it is even being considered?. This is the only link which shows up on a google search: https://www.motorbeam.com/2016/01/bi...oming-to-expo/. Its more than a year old and I wonder if its true. Planning to buy a new bike in the coming months and wondering if should wait for the updated model. TVS seems to be taking their own sweet time in launching a refreshed 180/160 . I guess it might be due to them focusing more on the 200 and the soon to be launched 310.

The current model is quite outdated, being a premium 160cc segment bike today's expectation is quite different, which other makers are offering(like Hornet 160).

No for other makers as I'm fan of RTR.

After getting hands on new bike, and justs couple of months later when new model is out with great looks, it is very painful.

                              Hi,
I have a 2 month old Apache 160 new model. 950kms on the ODO.
It has started blowing the electrical fuse in the last 10 days. I change the fuse, the bike runs for a day at most ; and the fuse is blown the next day.
I took it to the service center twice, but they just change the fuse saying that the connection was loose. But it happened again yesterday.
I have changed 5 fuses in the last 10 days. My bike is a stock one with no modifications whatsoever.
Any ideas about what could be the reason? What is causing this? Would appreciate any insights. Thanks.

That will happen, it cant be stopped. I would say, if you have money then get the bike. Its just like mobile, you will never know what will happen next.

Ask the service centre to check how much voltage the battery is giving as output, then get the wiring checked.
