Re: Riding pleasure
That's heartbreaking to hear. Yes the Rtr 180 won't be a match to R15 in many ways. But you will grow on it. Congrats on your new purchase. Ride safe and mostly enjoy biking.Originally posted by nony View PostEverybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Completed 6years with my RTR 180 today.
Damn, time flies so fast. I still remember my thread here where I was asking for 160 f.i or rtr 180.
3 engine rebuilds, numerous ups and downs, dont know whether I would be sad that it will go away soon (when I dont know) or I should be happy that it was besides me in my personal life's ups and downs.
6 years with this, almost 4 years with xcd. A decade of riding has passed in my life.
Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Went for a solo ride today. The bike sounded a bit weird (read as chain was noisy), which I have ignored, since I have lubed the chain last night. Midway, I felt that the bike was no longer accelerating/pulling as it used to and the noise has increased. Pulled aside and checked for free rotation in the rear tire. To my surprise the tire was not rotating freely at all. There was an audible "khat khat" sound and the chain was very stiff (no chain slack/free play). Since I was in the middle of no-where, I've continued to ride for another 20-25 km after which I found a road side mechanic and got the chain adjusted. Chain was fine yesterday and today, it went kaput. I do not know what happened, but the bike seems okay in general.
Contacted the SVC after I reached home. He says I need to change chain and sprockets ASAP as the chain has reached its EOL (i.e., no longer be adjusted). How long does the chain-sproket set usually last? I've searched the thread and found out that most people changed theirs at 15 to 20k+ kms on the ODO. Mine went kaput after 9000 km.
P.S: got the head gasket oil leak issue fixed last week and now this. My RTR is on a shopping spree for replacements lately

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Ask a local mech who you trust. The only answer SVC ever had for me when I knocked on their door was - "Change maadi saar"(change it sir). My cone set was damaged, so I got it replaced. The problem didn't get solved even after the change so I went back after a month, they asked me change again. I complied again. The problem didn't get fixed again. So I went again - this time in three days. They asked me replace it AGAIN! So I polished the mech's hands a bit and he told me that they had over tightened it so it WAS damaged. This time I bought the spare and did it myself. It took me 3 hours to figure out how to fix it and another 2 hours to get it tightened right. I lost a day, but my front never wobbled again.Originally posted by apachefan View PostWent for a solo ride today. Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Hi how much it costed you to fix the head gasket oil leak issue. because when i enquire the svc, they say i have to change the bore and the head needs to be decarbonized.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Thanks! I've contacted my dad's old mechanic friend. He said that the sprockets are fine and the chain will last for another 2000-3000 km atleast. On a side note, it was the SVC guys who screwed my rear wheel alignment in the first place. My rear wheel's bolts got loose and the wheel began to wobble after my fourth service.Originally posted by madhav766 View PostAsk a local mech who you trust. They charged 150 for labour; 50 for Anabond and 25 for miscellaneous charges. I was told that the one TVS uses out of the factory to seal the head cannot withstand higher temperatures and this is a very common issue for Apache. They told that Anabond works well and should fix the oil leak. This is sort of an experiment I should say since I was asked to inform them immediately if I notice oil again. So far I have ridden 500 km and noticed no leaks. Kept my fingers crossed though.Originally posted by hemnath View PostHi how much it costed you to fix the head gasket oil leak issue. because when i enquire the svc, they say i have to change the bore and the head needs to be decarbonized.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Front one costs about 1.1~1.2k..Originally posted by vivekgautams View PostHi guys, Hope everyone is doing well..
My bike's front and rear rotors(brake disc) are uneven and are due for a replacement @48k km. What is the cost of both the rotors?
no idea about the rear disc.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Depends on how you ride and maintain it. My first chain sprocket set lasted 43k kms..Originally posted by apachefan View Post

:
it's on the second set now and looks like it might give up within 30-35k..
