nothing like it in bolds.........Originally posted by redindian83 View Posteven my 180 rpm dey hav set at 1000, does a higher rpm say 1400 result in better acceleration frm stand still?
if you want flying start off the line you have to leave the clutch at 4500-5000....
set ur RPM when the bike is "hot" with ur headlight "ON" at 1400-1500...
dont go with the speedo go with the tacho...Originally posted by Grafix View PostThtz for sure!!

if it's goin to 135kmph in 5000RPM then it's completely safe for the engine during the running in...
as you've done with the first serv keep ur bike below 5000RPM and short bursts to 6000 is OK till 1000kms...The Magician"

the headlight takes current and affects the idling of the bike...Originally posted by badbikerboy View Postwhy so???

try setting the RPM without ur light on and you'll see ur bike will die in the morn,but if you'll set it with ur light on it wont cuz you did it with that setting only....The Magician"

Thanks bro..but they were no match to your shots!!Originally posted by chicane1879 View Post@Shivank, badbikerboy and Grafix
Awesome pics, guys!!
Btw, for some unknown reason the tappet noise has become less vocal but the handlebar vibrations are still a concern for me.Will ask those svc guys to rectify it during 2nd service as it gets irritating while riding on highways.
And yes the handlebar does vibrate somewhere around 5-6k mark and even the pillion complains of vibrations from the footpegs..my friend says,"It feels like someone tickles on your foot".
And could you guys throw some more light on run-in period ? I've done 350km with the bike and i am always riding it at 50-55kmph. But one thing i really care about is what should be the rpm when i am riding?..I heard it should be kept below 5k mark so gearshift at that moment only!!..I am following the same..
please correct me if i am going the wrong way....If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

I am one of those numbskulls!!!..Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostAccording to RTR Fi Manual, 1300-1500 rpm range.
I personally find people driving without mirrors dumb and dangerous.
Of course if you have the mirror, you must use it too. No offense.
But the problem is that even if they are there i hardly use them!!
Sorry but can't help..If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Apache RTR 180~2000kms Ownership report.

It's been exactly one month of ownership of the RTR 180.And i have developed mixed feelings about the bike.The irritating tappet noise has subdued somewhat and is quite liveable.The handlebar vibrations are very much there.I hope these issues are sorted out during 2nd service.
Touched 129km/hr in strong windy conditions.The bike felt planted, no issues in stability front.Hit 90km/hr in 3rd gear with the tacho at 10.3-10.5k rpm.Maxxed 110km/hr in 4th gear.In 3rd gear there was slight more juice left but i had to show some mercy to the bike.
Top speed attained till date!!

This figure was achieved after a street race against a R15!!

Problems faced:
(a) The number plate bulb has conked off in just under a month and that's a shame.Damn!!
(b) Tappet Noise/Handlebar vibs.
(c) The bike hiccups at 5% of the throttle in all gears.You wont notice it while accelerating hard but while riding like a uncle-ji you would definitely notice the engine gasping for breath.Need to check the spark plug cable and the plug.Anybody knows what might be the possible reason?
(d) The bike doesnt feel sprightly enough post 80-85km/hr.I am pretty damn sure the bike could do more speeds. Will change to a better engine oil in 2nd service.This is kind of a letdown.

Did manage to scrap the footpeg while taking a sharp right hander-turn at 55-60km/hr.Felt awesome!!

Mileage:
Best:53km/ltr(I dont think this number will be surprassed, ever by me!!
)
Worst:36km/ltr(Pure "Drive it like you stole it" riding
)
50% of the above two riding treatment returned a decent 43-44km/ltr!!
Current Odo reading:1974kms!!
What i still like:
(a) The exhaust note which freaks out everybody when the bike is given the stick.
And not to mention the glorious amount of unintentional wheelspin which the bike manages to give when accelerated hard and that happens even in 3rd gear at speeds of 55-60km/hr!!
(b) Handling and Braking.Like the Kungfu Panda said "Pure Awesomeness"!!
...And yeah the only thing which hasn't changed a bit from the day the bike was bought.The curious 'glares' of the people.I wonder how an Apache attracts them!!

@Shivank
Keep your revs at under 6k rpm for the first 1000kms.Try to vary your speeds and give sudden but short bursts(under 6k rpm).You can increase the speeds subsequently as your odo piles up some more miles!!Last edited by chicane1879; 08-17-2009, 11:19 PM.
