after repeated usage the rear brake "FADES"...
that is, it gets so hot(both the disc and the pads) that the pads find themselves unable to "HOLD" the disc and the friction which causes the braking reduces to "nil"....The Magician"

Went for a 200kms trip(all alone). While Climbing ghat sessions of MC Road(Kerala) ,I noticed Bike makes knocking sound in half throttles ,especially in 4th gear.(In Full Throttle ,Not Much of a issue) .
Any Idea ,If I can tune the Fuel Screw to resolve this knocking sound? So ,anyone verified whether the same 4 3/4(?) turns of fuel screw from closed position for RTR 160(to restore Original tuning) is applicable for RTR 180 as well?

Oh thanks a lot for explaining renny . Thats certainly not a good thing , infact twisties is where a person requires important things the most and one of them is braking rite ? . Why dont TVS think of using good discs like nissin or some other good company?Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postafter repeated usage the rear brake "FADES"...

Guys i am thinking to change the stock tyres of my RTR with any of the soft compound ones by Michelin or Pirelli.
Can i get the same tyre size as the stock by these manufacturerers?
I am seriously not in favor to change the size of the tyre as it'll definitely going to hamper the performance of the machine.
PS: I don't think there's anything bad or to complain about the stock tyres. They do their job pretty good. It's just that i wish to push RTR to it's limits which is a bit of bother with stock tyres! If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

ah ohk thanks for replying mate . If ur using stock tyres then i guess they are pretty good enough . You are an RTR lover which can be seen . Could you please comment something on the reliability of the engine . Well the owners here have already told , but would like to know from a hardcore tourer . You use 180 right for touring or the comet ? Could comment on the engine , tyres , brakes etc . like renny pointed out after usage n then heating the rear brake is kinda useless. thanksOriginally posted by manan_in_2000 View PostWell I was talking about my RTR 160, now I am riding on RTR 180 with stock tyresHope is a good thing ,

A small test ride experience --
Today I and my brother (nitinsen) went to check out the RTR 180 and took a test ride, in Noida. Sadly, the experience is not really positive. The bike had vibrations all the time at irritating levels from the start up! Now, I have read here and in magazines that NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) levels in rtr180 are very high. This is leading me to believe that the bike we rode was fine and not a screwed up model!
However, there are couple of things that I would like to clarify from 180 owners --
1. Is the fuel tank loose in all the 180s? As this was the case with that bike and I was told that it is loose in all the bikes! I irritatingly replied that "tvs ki bikes mein fuel tank loose hota hai shaayad!!"...this was for that stupid ass mechanic!
2. Are NVH levels really so high? 'cause it has really put us off. This wasn't the case with 160 when we first rode it. If this is the case, then this will cause good discomfort even in small rides. The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

not a fault of the disc or the pads....Originally posted by outworldly maniac View Post. Why dont TVS think of using good discs like nissin or some other good company?
i'm talking about a brake fade like i mentioned and reported when i was driving at constant 90-110kmph, was taking leans and braking in between them, and the course of road that was almost resembled as a track....
that whole driving and braking thing was goin on for good 8-10kms and after that the disc got numb, i braked and accelerated so much at that time that the front was showing the signs of fading too....
this is quite normal, in this series of twists and turns cuz when i found a 2km straight stretch i maintained 110-125 with givin a single tap to both the brakes and they cooled off in the process making them back to their normal ferocious biting again..
the tyres are good (TVS) in dry and when you're puttring around the city and going straight...Originally posted by shivank View PostPS: I don't think there's anything bad or to complain about the stock tyres. They do their job pretty good. It's just that i wish to push RTR to it's limits which is a bit of bother with stock tyres!
try putting your knee down, try accelerating hard out of a corner, try hard front braking while entering a turn, and TRY just turning on a wet tarmac using them and you wont say what you just said in the bolds....

200..
noice- it's simply gives you a eargasm.
harshness- the engine sounds rough not harsh, there's a thin line of diff between the two....The Magician"

RTR 180 like other RTRs have some vibrations but it's definitely lesser. In my bike i experience only after 7k rpm.
I think you should go for another TR in a different dealership, if any!! That would clear off all your doubts!!

Now seriously speaking my driving is only limted to this(the sentence in bolds) and therefore, whatever i said is what i've learnt all through my riding days..It's now that i am trying to hone my riding skills, otherwise, you can call me a power commuter who just get into Traffic light GPs sometimes.
Second,my daily commute:home-college-home;where you hardly get any corner to play around. No trips yet so no idea of how they act round a twisty!..And except for a few flyovers there're hardly any places in Noida where you could scrap your knee and show your Rossi kinda instincts.
So, no way can you blame me for referring TVS tyres as good. For a simple reason,as far as they are good to me why should i complain?
Anyways,Manan bhai said he has used Pirelli in his RTR 160 but i doubt of them being available for the 180!If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!
