sorry if we're still OT:
[QUOTE\]
In a constant mesh gear box, all the gears are helical. This is the advantage of the constant mesh method. [QUOTE/]
all constant mesh gear boxes aren't helical, AFAIK the R15 and the 220 have a primary reduction from Spur gears.

Can anybody tell what is the advantage of spur gears in constant mesh?
Hi, we're not Off the topic. It is a good forum to understand our own bikes better

sorry, but thats as far as my 1year BE knowledge goes
. but like you mentioned earlier, there isn't any need for thrust bearings in the case of spur gears, that way maunfacturers can reduce costs
??
there was NO logic involved in this reply
, so please spare me the thrashing

Friends,
What u feel about this bike ABS by www.saferideabs.com.
As far my technical knowledge goes, it is NOT a full fledged ABS , but rather a pressure damper/modifier.
Have any one of you fitted it in RTR 180? any performance difference?
Does it fit for the rear brakes also?
Give ur views please

it's just a fluid pumping device that pumps the brake fluid in intervals (times in secs) to give that ABS effect thus preventing the lock up of wheel...Originally posted by bala_racing View PostFriends,

I have my doubts on the proper functioning of this device. As it keeps up pumping the fluid intermittently which would definitely reduce the risk of skidding but then i am sure that will be a compromise on the bike's stopping power/braking distance.isn't it!!
Always in a proper ABS system there are always a host of sensors coupled to a central control unit which senses the road condition and acts accordingly.
Use this device only if you want to reduce the risk of skidding but at the expense of stopping power.
TVS on the other hand is working on a cost effective ABS unit for motorcycles.Wonder how good that will be!!

Hehe...14000 KMS :].
due for service by 3000 KMs. No time or money
.
chain loose, clutch needs adjustment, wierd sounds come from the clutch when I gear brake..., Gear box oil leaking , gear refuses to change properly , back tire has like 7-8 punctures...and been driving on punctures for like 1 month now :P...backside brake pad exhausted 1 month ago...front disc pad changed...backside disc started to rust [LOL]. Tank starting to rust from inner sides. [WTF]

Your bike has probably covered most kms amongst the 180s out here!!
Replace the Rear disc and the tank under warranty. But i would say wait for a couple of more months and then replace it!!

Yes, I agree. A full ABS cannot be given for such a low priceOriginally posted by chicane1879 View PostI have my doubts on the proper functioning of this device. As it keeps up pumping the fluid intermittently which would definitely reduce the risk of skidding but then i am sure that will be a compromise on the bike's stopping power/braking distance.isn't it!!

The ABS which TVS works should be available as a retrofit for its existing Apache bikes, otherwise we will feel bad
. Of course, it should be affordable also.
