It is not necessary to flush the engine before putting a semi -Synth or full synthetic oil .

You can definitely leave the bike at the service center but make sure that you dont leave the bike during night.Anything could happen.

can we use an oil with a grade of 10w - 40w, bcoz the tvs manual states us to use 20w - 40w.... by using the grade 10w -40w will it effect the byks engine in the long run...?
Yes you can very well use a 10W40 oil because one should be really looking at the last two digits of the rating i.e 40 which is very well what TVS is recommending. The initial number "10" is infact better than 20 because the oil flow will be better. Also why on earth would i have switched to Veedol from the super brilliant Motul which has a rating of 15W50. The 50 rating would do more harm to the engine as Higher the VI rating thicker is the oil which means it flows less and sticks more to the walls.

Yes you can switch to a good semi-synthetic of XW40 rating.

How much do they cost?..I was also thinking to change the stock ones with those a few months back but the service centre waala told me it'll void the warranty!!..And even when i ask him to put oil of some other brand he quotes the same!
They cost 185 something each, use the FEELER BOLTS of RTR as the ones from the R15 cost more than the Pegs..

And who in the hell told you that changing the pegs void the warranty, GOD, these SC guys seriously deserve a slap on their Fu#$King brains.

There are no "racing pegs" as such which you're refering...
The front ones are having rubber above the alloys and if you'll pe removing the rubber by opening two screws (it never slides out) you'll be greeted by a hollow hole.

Rear pegs rubber can be removed by opening two screws, that'll reveal alloy pegs.

              Extentions are called "Feeler Bolts".

Never do this, just pur the new oil (Synth or Semi synth) along with the new oil filter.
              That's it.

And yes servicing your bike other than the SC till ur free serv will void the warranty so get ur bike serviced from the SC if you dont have good contacts with the showrrom owner.

And the crap which someone fed you about parts getting stolen that too after 3 serv (what's so special about the 3 serv, if someone has to do it, he'll sweep the parts out in first serv only.) is just rubbish, but still if you want peace of mind, mark ur battery (which is the fav target) with permanent marker.

I fillled Petronas Sprinta Fully synth at arnd 6k kms... Heres a short ride report of around 600 Kms :

Vibes completely gone (below 5.5K rpm) and i mean Completely gone ...Vibes above 5.5K RPM have lessened to a great extent . Bike feels extremely smooth , and it doesnt feel sluggish any more . I have also installed an NGK Iridium .

I would highly recommend Petronas Sprinta fully synth . It feels like its been tailor made for the RTR .. now my RTR feels like a Uni or FZ, but with power of RTR

Actually its no harm if u flush the engine b4 u pour the new engine oil in it...coz it gets rid of the old and dirty engine oil completely...and ur engine has the fresh oil at its disposal....may it be for sem synth or synth or mineral...doesnt matter....i will get u some link regarding this where i have read abt this...and IMO its a good practise...
Nothing feels better than to gear up and burn some rubber ! ! !

I completely agree with Renny! Never use a engine flush, cos they are basically some of the best harsh solvents that can eat up weak internal engine parts along with the carbon that comes off! The best way that i follow is, run the engine for some 5-6 kms or until the engine is hot, just put the bike in centre stand, drain the old oil and leave the drain bolt open for some 1 hr and just top up with the new synthetic oil. Thats what i did when i switched from Valvoline to Motul 300v.

And how you'll be floushin it??

And what do you think, engine gets dirty from inside? even if you'll open a 60000 kms done engine which has been through regular TIMELY oil changes with no floushes whatsoever, you'll find it spanking clean.

OMG..where did i mention of engine getting dirty....i mentioned removing the dirty oil..."DIRTY" here means it has almost lost all its properties to lubricate, resist corrosion, keep the engine cool etc etc....not that it appears dirty...i hope u get it this tym..
