: I thought of the angle thingie for once, but then left it for you to tell yourselves if it was really the angle of the pic itself BTW, this is the 1st RTR I've seen with a straightly aligned rear fender

        • Hey guys ,i found out a remarkable thing from my experience with the AFR.

My bike was at reserve fuel. For the sake of experimentation i twisted the AFR screw to 1 turn from leanest, and rode under 3k Rpm.To my surprise i got FE of 55KMPL.Did't believe it,Tried it out again and got same result.

I have disconnected the choke because my bike starts in 1 kick or pulse regardless of time and temperature. Is this a good thing to do?It wasn't working anyway...

Does the 180 have a CAT.I thought only FI had it?

Yes, the RTR160 & 180 have the cat con.
The RTR 160FI does not have a catalytic converter.

P.S. That's a reason why the 160 FI's exhaust note sounds very exciting.

Turn it to the leanest and then 1.5 turns to the richer side

He meant only 1 turn from the leanest possible mixture (where engine is about to STALL).

                  @Deception

No, this is not et'all a good practice. Avoid doing this again. (If you're talking about this leaning thingie). And, you asked about cutting out the choke cable, then why to THAT even? If your ride doesn't need choke, just don't use it. But keep it connected in any case you might need it some bad day (God forbid).

Ya Overheating is very bad.But i kept the RPM below 3k.But it was only for a short time.(143kms).I always tune my carb to the best AFR,but on that time i would rather employ this method than push my bike 20 kms to the nearest fuel depot.

My choke cable us faulty from day one.Didn't check it when buying. So even if i had a bad day ,i'm screwed.I'll buy another cable when i feel like it

Pushing 20kms? Why would you? Which place you were riding at where there's no petrol bunk in the stretch of 60-70 kms.?

And about the cable, Did you mention it was faulty?

                        • I guess the old Apache RTR/FI thread is a bit inactive nowadays.

There has been a lot of noise from the chain lately and I fear the chain set has gone kaput. I did try lubricating and tightening the chain but the problem persists. I am planning to leave the bike for service soon.

I ride about 40kms a day. The bike has run 13900Km so far and the bike is just 1 Year and 9 months old. I have some doubts regarding the above:

                          1. Should I replace only the sprocket or the chain set as a whole?
                          2. Does the chain set come under warranty?
                          3. Is there an average life for a chain set or does it vary? (assuming lubrication and chain tightening is done periodically)

As a general rule, drive chain along with sprockets need to be replaced when it's time to do so. Retaining an old component might do damage to the new one. An O-ring drive chain if properly maintained could easily last 20,000km at the least. As regards sprockets, the tooth should not be in a wavy pattern.

Get it checked at the SVC at the earliest
