      Firstly, i'm not an expert, just adding my suggestion...
      Joel's web site mentions a bigger carb and racing cam-shaft... have you tried those? (how big is his carb?)...
      And coming to the free flow filter, i have seen lots of people who have fitten k&n's on their bikes... have seen 2-3 people fitting it on apache... and it does increase the power but, i highly doubt the longevity of the bike, there is a guy who ahd crosses 2lac kms on his apache 150, if you want to do something like that, any kinds of modifications are not suggestible, but if you dont give a damn about those and just want to extract maximum power from your pony, then go ahead...

        I don't think you can fit the 220's carb on the 180 Without modifications.The carb has a larger height then the BS29 one.

        • IMO, Tru4 Premium 10W30 ain't a proper semi-synthetic oil like say, the Motul 5100 ester 4T which costs around 500 INR. Shell's Advance AX 7 (which is sold as a SS oil) costing 300 INR, is a highly refined mineral oil (Learned this fact from xBhp itself). So this Tru4 Premium might not cause hindrance in the proper run-in of the engine. After run-in, those who continue using this oil should try replacing it at around 1500-2000kms intervals, because the grade being 10W30. Otherwise, there should be nothing to worry about this oil from TVS

          @pranav_salieri
          Yes, the more petrol in tank, lesser the loss from evaporation. Also chances of rusting inside the tank is reduced. So avoid running in reserve. Try maintaining atleast half tank full all the time

            first of all im not at all interested in keeping this bike for more than 2 years and i have ridden it just 9k kms in 8 months so no such thing. Secondly new guy had posted a post saying tht the bike has a joeled carb which is 32mm . As it is time taking buisness to get the carb all the way from bangalore to punjab , so i thought it will be easier to source it here itself. So plzz tell me will tht carb from 220 suit my overpowered beast...??

            @deception- i think there is space to fit the bs 32.

                  • an update.
                    Was using Motul 5100 10W40 semi-synthetic oil from 8100km on wards. Gem of an oil, must say.

                    At 11400km service, started using Motul 300V FL 15W50. W40 grade of 300V is tough to find here in my place too. After 500kms drained the oil yesterday Post 4000 rpm, engine is not that free revving, taking more time and felt a little harsh at higher speeds. Yes, i too feel W50 grade is not suited for our ride.

                    The new one poured in is Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 (replaced the filter too). Quickly felt the difference. Engine now rev's quick and free. Smoothness is there at higher speeds as well

                    Thanks guy's, especially Drifty and Makky who shared their experiences here about the same.

                          heheheheh thts true bro, but im nt talkin abt his rtr, im talkin about karkai6 and newguy who had installed a bs 32 on their joel'ed bike. Check page 894. I wonder whcih carb is tht, and a simple ques as im using a bbk, ffe and headwork done rtr , which has increased the bhp for sure, so is it true tht we need a bigger carb and a free flow to complement the extra power.

                          One more ques, does the cdi unit has the rev limiter in it, if no then where is it located. Actuall have been getting two problems since the last 3 months. 1 st tht the bike dosent rev abovw 10.5k in any gear, even after trying tuning the carb with expert mechs. The miture is ideal as per mr spark plug. And secong problem being tht my bike never starts with only self , either it needs a throttle pull with self, or it needs an increase of idling, is this the characteristics of a damaged tci. Plzz note - the coil is ok and i have disconnected the tps, as connecting it makes the rev sticking at 2-3 k rpm while deaccelerating. Thnxx

                            I thought the RTR bikes didnt come with one.

                              Apache RTR 180 does not have a rev limiter. But the 160 does.

                                joel said tht the rtr 180's rev limiter kicks in at 11k prm. Then how is this possible. And if it does not have a rev limiter then why doesnt the bike pull til 12k rpm even after installing a ffe and doing the head port.
