      Thanks!

          • Guys, need your help.

My RTR 180 is roughly 5 months old. I have been having performance problems for some time now. at around 2-3k rpm, at constant acceleration, the bike feels jerky. It is as if something is holding it back.

I told the mechanic to check the air filter, but he said he has checked it during service. I personally do not know where it is located, asked him to check it only on some member's advice here.

Later he checked the emission from the exhaust - he said it should be around 3.5 for CO. For RTR 160, it was written that it should be less than 2. He didn't have charts for the 180, so i m not sure if what he is telling has any truth in it.

However, the bike felt alright for a day and again after that I am facing this problem.

It is also hard for me to go beyond 100 which was easy before. and at 5k rpm - I can reach 58kmph. Is this normal?

I park my bike outside and it gets wet during the rain. Could this be causing problems?

Can't say much about the bike jerking. But the bike should definitely be doing more that 58 at 5k rpm. I am in the running in period and I try not to exceed 4k and the bike touches 52-54kph in the fifth gear.

Regarding rains, get a waterproof cover. Not foolproof but at least keeps the bike semi dry. Just take care to remove the wraps after the rain stops and let the bike dry. This helps esp with the electricals.

Air filter is located in the opp side of the panel where you put key to open up the seat!

Bike getting wet shouldnt cause this problem!
                IMHO Bikes Are waterproof

                • Got my bike's first service done yesterday. The bike has logged 720 kms uptill now.The SC was forcing me to refill with TVS tru4 oil but I lend the last surviving ear to that guy and refilled it with ELF moto4 Gold20W40 as everyone here passed nice comments for it.The Sc had that TVS tru 4 oil stored in one large barrel(cant rely upon..as it can be adulterated). They even had Veedol oil stored in one barrel.
Now waiting to log some good 350-400kms to feel the difference in the bike's smoothness.

I will be taking my bike for 1st service on Saturday. I am also thinking about buying the oil.

@Drifty - How much did the oil cost?

For the jerk issue in the bike you can get the Carburettor sump cleaned. Asked the svc guy to clean it infront of you. As in my case the water passed through from tank to the carburettor sump. I guess the tank lid leaks in Apache, as in mine. As you park your bike outside definately water cripped in to tank. Get it checked.

how the hell can a person make holes in the clutch ?
i think that person is insane
He meant drilling the clutch(pressure)plates. Yes, it increases performance as there will be better oil supply/lubrication. But too much of drilled holes would lead to slippage of clutch. But i am not sure how much effect it will have on smaller Indian bikes like the RTRs and Pulsars.

How did he confirm that it's a 200cc Apache? Did it looked like Apache or did it have any sticker/emblem mentioned on the bike? And how much massive was it?

At 5k rpm the RTR does 67-68km/hr. I think you need to check your bike's crankshaft/clutch settings.

Elf Moto 4 Gold is a good mineral oil.

                        • Problems here:

Strange creaking sound is coming from the fairing..Bugs me!

                          Vibrations all over...

Does anyone know how much the rear-disc plate cost?..Anyway,if not give me some higher official's email id..I will try to avail it under warranty

Service is at its worst, yet again..Nothing but the engine oil is changed and other things are left as they were previously..I mean, the jerky throttle response,chain-slackness,and I couldn't open the air-box compartment using a screwdriver..It's jammed somehow.Neither is the AFR screw moving from it's place...I suspect if they were ever fiddled with, any time in recent past..
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Can you elaborate on method and dimension of holes if you know?

                              • Couldn't get hold of Elf Moto. So got a castrol Activ 4T (20W40)...

Hopefully it should be better than the TVS one. One thing - He had only 900ml bottles. Can I just fill up 900ml (I know capacity is 1000ml), will it be a problem? I want to try the oil out and I will top it up later if it turns out good.

Please give your suggestions. I will be taking my bike for service in a day or two.

                                Thanks a lot.
