  • @Pranav:Congrats for the bike & nice pics.Ride safe bro.
Guys..after receiving a lot of criticism from many customers,TVS is finally working on soft compound tyres that are about to hit the Indian market. They are also working on Radial tyres & dual compound tyres. The dual compound has a soft compound rubber on the side tread for road grip & a harder compound layer on the middle tread, which improves fuel efficiency and life of the tyre ,according to them.Let's see now.
For more info, read the BIKE India's oct2010 issue.

And about the sound....wait and watch.....you will get a numerous sound coming out of different parts of your bike.....
haha never mind...they will b taken care off well during your service...
Same here dont worry about the fuel guage it sucks even if it is any indian bike noby can give a perfect match for fuel guage. Now the second point and overall this has been discussed in thread.

The sound can be either of two things.
First if it is suspension piston then get it done from SVC.
Second is from the front disc brake assembly. This you can diagnose yourself. First ride over bumps and just carefully note that it is coming from below somewhere from front suspension.
Now while jumping over the bumps apply front disc brake. If it is not coming, then its surely the disk assembly which is the pain point. It needs to be fitted properly, nothing to worry much about it as same thing i am facing.

      • The good ol' tacho problem...

SC guys called me to bring my bike to the sc,all because of the email i sent a week ago. so went there yesterday, they replaced the speedo and the TCi unit but the problem is "not fully solved".
they've called me again but i think i'll spend some time with the new "4th" speedo, cover up few 100-1000kms until it breakdowns again. And then ask for a new speedometer...

So make sure you look at the reading after the bike has been upright for some time... And as the name suggest, its just a fuel level indicator , so dont rely on it completely...
Very true guys but the funny thing was that i was riding it for 30mins and still the speedometer was showing a single bar and by evening it was showing 2 bars so i guess digital surely looks good but analog fuel gauge is better

          • Guys, at 236xx odo reading, I've changed my tyres. Rear is now MRF Zapper C 110/80 -17 and front Zapper FS 90/90 - 17. The new set of rubber feels like glue when compared to TVS tyres(?). Yesterday I was cornering like mad on wet roads and never once did the tyres slip or go out of line! Very much worth the change. I feel like I should have changed it earlier.

Now, there is an issue with my console for a couple of weeks now. There was some sort of white dust inside the display... and now after it rains, I can see water droplets inside both the display and tacho. And guess due to water presense, the display is has different segments (bars of the fuel gauge, speedo, time, almost all ) partly visible with vastly varying frequency. Any idea if it can be salvaged? Or will it need replacement?

Hi Guys.... I have done some modifications to 'THE MENACE' to make it even more Menacing...
Ever since I took the RTR 180 in my hands, I felt that the original dome of the bike is not doing justice to the bike's character... it had to be more aggressive & shoud have that 'in your face' attitude..... Am attaching a few pics of The Menace below... check it out...
                Happy Riding....

Yes the Zapper has a wee bit more traction in wet conditions which was the only reason we went for the Zapper instead of TVS!!

And about the display wait for few more days, if the droplets show up again then you need to replace it.

Plz change the tyres befor the rains come....its absolutely dangerous in wet conditions......
Feels Good to see that you and your bike came out unscathed. Be careful on wet roads.

I fitted Pirelli Sport Demon 110/80 tubeless on rear wheel today. The guys at the shop told me 110/80 and tubeless will not affect but I want to know it here.

Will 110/80 tubeless tyre reduce fuel efficiency and will it fitt properly on the alloy since stock tyre is 100/80 with tube? Plz help

No need to worry. It will work just fine. There might be a slight drop in fuel efficiency, though.
