@gixxer_junkie_m
I'll be getting the NGK Iridium IX for RTR and a Splitfire cable, most probably tommorrow
via courier. Cost INR 950 inc. of courier charges. Would be installing the stuff soon and will post the review. Really excited. Odo closing on to the 9000kms mark too.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

The self start fires instantly when the bike is in neutral. Please help me guys
Hi all,i had posted my problem earlier in the above posts and now the same problem has again reoccured..Originally posted by Krish1417 View PostHi guys, today when i was just leaving for TVS service centre to get my clutch switch replaced,to my surprise the self starter fired with the gears engaged
And after that i tried starting several times with the gear engaged, and the self worked without any problem
Any idea what could have went wrong
I don't know what's happening
Does replacing the clutch switch could solve the problem?
P.S-Earlier i was adviced to replace the clutch switch

I've learn't it from X-bhp too and mainly because my bike stopped being stock long time back itself. So i had to learn about the things being done.No choice really
as you guys know how knowledgeable local mechs are, or for that matter the ASS ones. So most of the things i've mentioned here, especially like the ones about spark plugs,i had to try those out.For you folks you can easily plonk the one suggested by NGK for the RTR.But my bike is not stock.
ohh nice mahn!!!wat mods have u done on ur rtr??
btw even my attitude towards biking has changed for good after xbhp..seriously with all u guys willingly helping noob's like me
...really appreciate it man!!

The clutch lever limit switch does not allow the engine to start when the bike is in-gear & the clutch in engaged position. The problem seems to have occured again cause there might be some short circuit in the switch, hence it may sometime work or may not,get it verified from the SVC and replace it!Originally posted by Krish1417 View PostHi all,i had posted my problem earlier in the above posts and now the same problem has again reoccured..

Oh OkayOriginally posted by social View Post
The new Shell SS seems to be pretty good. The engine revs very freely though the gearshifts have become notchy. Unless I shift at correct rpm bands, the gear shifts are very hard and uncomfortable. (But it can be that my clutch plates are near the end of life @ 17k kms.)
My experience with Shell Advanced 20w40 Mineral Oil was somewhat similar. The gearshifting was buttersmooth in first 100 kms., then it became very notchy for around 100 kms. (don't know why) but from then its OKAY kinda. Maybe I adapted it
or it really changed back to okayish, weird though.
Bro, carb tuning ain't the only factor which affect mileage.Originally posted by pranav_salieri View Post@garry then why is it giving me sych a pathetic mileage??
Mileage depends on lot of factors like your riding style, the kind of fuel you use, how you treated your bike in RUN-IN period, tyre pressure/width, etc.I would suggest you to be easy on the throttle for some days and test the mileage for those days. See, riding a bike below 60 doesn't always mean that you're riding it sanely. Sudden acceleration and de-acceleration is what takes its toll on mileage. Keep an eye on the tacho, and TWIST YOUR WRIST PROGRESSIVELY, NOT ONCE. Be gentle on it and twist the throttle only with respect to the bike gaining speed. People generally twist the throttle in one go and thats what give them bad mileage. Also, avoid using brakes and clutch where they aren't necessary. Let the engine braking play its role.

He doesn't own an RTR, but the ancestor of RTR

It's got a ZMA's piston ,but not the stock one ,but it's flat-top variety(increasing compression).Stroke being similar to your rides ,now her cc's have gone up to 195,RTR 180 TCI,RTR 180 intake manifold,Ucal BS29,modified stock megaphonic exhaust.Handle is that of the std bullet put USD,disk brake of the pulsar, custom made/crude rear-sets(back then RTR was still on the race tracks only)
Shell oil from my experience feels thicker, engine runs smooth but doesn't feel that free.Yes the GB gets notchy too after 500kms.Last edited by gixxer_junkie_m; 08-22-2011, 05:49 PM.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

Damn! Should we call it a modified bike or an assembled one?Originally posted by gixxer_junkie_m View PostHahahha yup ancestor's the word!

LOL, joking
Well, how is the performance now? I mean, has it been even powerful than the RTR itself?
And what compression ratio does it run on now? PLUS, why did you go for pulsar discs? When you're using many parts of RTR then why not its discs when they're the best in class?

Performance is really good, because of bore/stroke ratio approaching RTR 160 levels, she revs very freely and effortlessly.Originally posted by Garry_Menace View PostDamn! Should we call it a modified bike or an assembled one?

It still is a work in progress with the silencer's bend pipe work to be taken up shortly.
RTR180 levels of performance? i don't know about that and i doubt that as well for now.All i have is readings of the speedo and none accurate ones and frankly ,whatever i've gotten done to her is only for my satisfaction as i wanted her to keep on getting a make-over periodically to keep her young.
Coming to the compression ratio. There have been far too many changes made to the engine's squish area to be sure.Like the combustion chamber has been widened and squish area around valve seats have been increased too(to reduce compression). Then the stock 150 piston was a concave top with curved edges ending with about 4 to 5 mm flat top near the piston's circumference. Then ,with the flat top piston the compression is really high, which can be felt. The dynamic compression was high the last time around when it was checked over 180 psi i think. Now the dynamic compression will be even more because of bigger carb and a better RTR180 intake manifold increasing the engine's breathing. So will have to check that once again.
The reason as to why it has pulsar disc brakes and mudguard.Back then in 2004-5 RTR was, as i said still on the race tracks and not born yet.
