Happy monsoon riding,
Its been almost 3 months when I got hands on my birdie and enjoying the ride with new experience always. Performance is upto the mark wherein I managed to fetch a mileage of 44kmpl in city riding conditions.

I am seeking some valuable suggestions from your end upon my below concerns,
1. My 2nd sevicing is due in 2500-3000kms but due to tight office schedule I am not able to achieve desired run on my ODO, I need to get it serviced otherwise the serving will be lapsed. Wanted to understand if I replace the OIL after desired kms and get the bike serviced now, will it make some difference???

2.i am planning to get my TWILLIGHT colored bike teflon coated, is it a wise option that it will not affect paint in coming future.

3. I have also installed a crash guard from showroom, yesterday I had to apply emergency brakes because of which the front mudguards tip came behind/under the crash guard rod and my handle got struck with Zero movement on busy road. I some how managed to get myself rid out of that horrible situation.

Request you all kindly resolve my concerns.

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Prateeek
Disclaimer: I am not owner yet. Waiting patiently. Following answers will be based on my reading forums elsewhere [emoji4]

1. Servicing is based on kms or time - whichever comes first. So, it is advised that you do all things you are asked to as per manual during second servicing. You can check with ASC guy as well.

2. Teflon coating should be good for Twilight color. However, I have heard that it takes off some shine. Again, please speak to ASC.

3. No idea [emoji15]

check with the asc, normally if you haven't done enough km you can get the bike serviced but not do oil change, and do the oil change at a later date. But make sure this is recorded in the owners manual/free service coupon.

Stay away from this unless it is the real TEFLON (which is a product/chemical from Dupont and has to applied correctly) - what these showrooms call 'teflon' is in most cases just some cheap rubbing polish which is not worth the money you pay. Instead buy some decent branded automotive wax like waxpol, turtle wax, motomax etc and do it yourself.

Holy cow, I used to wonder if that could really happen and here we have you with this dangerous situation. I think at the asc only two types of crash guards are mostly available made by 'Quality'chennai. Do you use the one that wraps around, i think its called 'butterfly type' or something.. that's a real pain though.

You can also order a different kind of crash guard from here Royal Enfield Zone - Crash Bars for Royal Enfield Bullet, Electra, Machismo, Thunderbird, Standard :: Royal Enfield Zone, New Delhi, India

Pls get this sorted out at the asc since its difficult to explain how to fix this here ..check the clamps and mounting.

Hey prateek

Like s1d said, it's better to go for the 'Quality' crash guards which RE suggests. Well as per my knowledge, for thunderbird you had two options 'butterfly' and 'diamond'. I personally preferred the diamond more than butterfly. When I'd gone to the RE spares I was shown a new model available for thunderbird (all models are available in chrome as well as black).
This new one is much simpler in design and looks good once installed as .
I have got it fixed on mine.. I'll post a pic below .

That looks good!
That is not traditional diamond type I think. Traditional diamond is hexagonal with almost no curves. This looks modified diagonal one. I will get this one :-)

Hey abhishek,

This ain't the diamond one.. This is a new model, which a friend from RE suggested me. I was going to get the diamond, that's when he told me about this. I was told this one is specifically for the TBs. It cost me 1075/- (cheaper than diamond) from Cochin RE spares .

Well, this is also called the diamond..well maybe a different diamond cos it looks similar. But hey, this is appearance wise a neat looking one. And i really doubt if it costs 1075, because i remember reading somewhere that this one in chrome costs 850 and the powder coated black costs 750.

Well that is a nice idea. In my case, as I call my TB "Pegaso" there is a sticker of a horse with wings in that place

• Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Bike stalled on every rainy day!

For the past two years (almost) I've been having a love & hate relationship with my TB 350 (new). I love the bike for its power and handling ability. However, I have just one issue with the bike and that is whenever it rain the bike will misfire and stop. I have gone through all the reviews of fellow RE owners but found out that non of their problems are similar to mine.
1. The problem started on January 2013 when I went for a short 80 kms ride while it was raining. The bike suddenly refuse to go forward, however, the engine did not died off, but remain in idle, the moment I accelerate in 1st gear it stops and engine also died. I was 40 kms away from home in the highway. I tried starting the bike but it choke, I tried opening the lid of the tank but this also did not ease my problem. My last option was I have to travel with the "choke on" to reach home. The next day, I went to ASC, they open the tank, clean the fuel filter and everything work fine again. (1st experience)
2. (2nd experience- The problem arises again after a few months that is when the rain starts coming. I took the bike again to the ASC, the mech guy open the spark plugs and air filter - but the problem is still persisting. I told him to spray water on the bike and especially on the area where the spark plugs are located while the engine is running, the moment the water contacted the area, the bike began to miss. The mech guy told me this is normal as "slight misses" will always be there. I am not buying this kind of stuff. What the mech guy was saying indirectly to me is "when the rain comes, stay home and polish your bike"!!!
3. Friends and countrymen, riders of the TBird, please HELP!!! I want this problem to be solved once and for all.

Thanking you all.
