  • Travelling to KL, Malaysia sometime next month. Any idea if any worthwhile accessories/riding gear can be picked up from there?
i have heard of some helmets that come with built in bluetooth etc. WOuld be a boon for me.
Even stuff like a bike GPS system etc.
If you are not afraid, you have probably chosen too easy a mountain to climb!!

thanx for this... was also wondering if the sound of the 250 could be bettered. Resolved now

        • ^^^ that sounds pretty cool for a 250R... but the video's been recorded indoors... prolly half the reason why the exhaust sounds so good.

            • Just finished 2500+ km ride on the Ninja. Through South India, on some very bad roads ,especially NH17 between Mangalore to Kannur.
Never had a problem. The fuel range is ample, so is the torque. Seating position is so beautiful, I was the least fatigued of my lot.

The last leg of my journey was at Bangalore. Here I had the good fortune of meeting fellow Green Team members n_adtiya and Bluevolt. It was nice meeting them.

On the way back, the Ninja did finally face a problem. We were riding in the rain almost constantly for 400 kms (from Hubli to Pune). This was no pit-pat rainfall, it was a torrential downpour. The left side of the road was logged with water. And everytime a truck would pass you , it would splash buckets of water with great force.

About 180 kms from Pune, the bike started acting weird. The revs would start to drop, it would not go above 4K RPM. The exhaust note started sounding weird (It sounded like how it would, if someone put a cloth over the exhaust outlet). This would go on for some time, then all of a sudden the bike would speed on as if I had whacked the throttle wide open. The rain ensured that the bike was very very cold. I somehow managed to ride it Chanadani Chowk in Pune. It had a lot of trouble climbing the ascent that leads to the CCD there.
I was scared out of my wits, when I got down. The exhaust head (the part parallel to the monoshock link) was glowing orange hot (like how molten metal would look). Quickly switched off the bike. After keeping it off for one hour, I finally started for home. THe bike started alright. On the way back it ran fine for about 3-4 kms, after which the problems started again. About 200 mts from home, the exhaust had started glowing again. I didnt want to take anymore chances, I turned off the bike and pushed it home.

Took it to the SVC next day, cleaned the air-filter, but still the same problem persisted. When they opened up the bike, they found water seeping through one of the spark plugs. After changing the spark plug, the problem didnt appear again. I got the bike serviced as it was due and took it out for some testing on the highway yesterday. No problems anymore.

Does anybody know what the problem could have been? How can water seeping in cause the exhaust to glow like that?

I have heard a lot of aftermarket exhausts for the 250R, and I now realize that the stock pipe sounds the best on this bike.
+1 to that. The stock exhaust of the ninja sounds superb. I love the sound of my bike especially early in the morning when no one else is around and the music from the bike is the only thing you can hear.

No exhaust on the 250R will sound as meaty and hair-raising as on an inline four. If you still want a loud, deep, bassy exhaust check out M4 exhaust or Hot Bodies Racing MGP Growler (available at Performance racing store, mumbai). Beware, the MGP growler is bloody loud and you'll get tired of it very soon.

Well just walk in to a bike accessory shop and go berserk depending on how deep your pockets are. You can shop for gear or parts like a digital console for the ninja, decals, rear sets, etc. and loads of other stuff.

Most of the video's on youtube are recorded inside a garage or within enclosed spaces. Thats why the bikes sound so deep and nice. In the open they wouldnt sound half as good as they sound inside the garage.

Shocked to know. I thought the air filter must have got clogged. What reason did the service center give for this issue? I guess if its raining hard, its only safer to pull over (for the rider and the ride). Glad you all reached safe and sound.

P.S. T'was nice meeting you all as well.

Guys I can vouch for it, the exhaust sounds really nice. Will upload the video of my bike on the road soon. Not been able to take her out because of the rains. It sounds like typical twin & sounds magnificent at the higher RPM's

the CCs alone wont get you the sound you are wanting. Its the engine configuration ! Parallel twin != Inline 4

check this inline4 CBR400RR bike. Sounds equally awesome even though it is only 400cc.
If you get a parallel twin or a vtwin 1000cc bike you still wont get that sound. This sound can be attributed to the I4 configuration only and has little to do with CCs ! They really should start making 400cc inline4s again. Dont know whats stopping them
