But since you are in Chennai, 20w50 should work fine.

I checked motul.com but couldnt find any distributor in chennai. Try sourcing it from GP road (General Patters road).
Even mine will be due for 2nd second service and going for a change in the oil.

@All - Should I go for Full or Semi synthetic? Also planning for a 800+ KMs ride after few months. Will be going for a long ride for the first time.. Any suggestion??? Even small things will help me...

@ killer_instinct... what are the other things you have noticed, when you changed to fully synthetic?

I won't be riding in any racetrack.... I use it daily for my office commute & for nice long weekend rides .

I was thinking of buying Motul 7100 4T 20W50. Any idea where i can get the real stuff in India ?
There is an authorized dealer in JC Road Bangalore who sells the Motul stuff and gives it for a good price too... no idea about Chennai

Simply speaking... you have to rip it really bad to enjoy fully synthetic... coz at low RPMs its sluggish. Lot of people had commented earlier that for normal day to day riding semi synthetic should be good enough.

I switched to 300v for the following reason:

"All 4-stroke motorcycle engines - racing bikes, very high temperature & rpm, off-road rally, trails and street use."

I want to get this fabricated and the fabricator might need more information.

Can mechanical engineers / experts confirm if the measurements specified herein are enough?

Best I could find off the net was costing 5k without shipping to India (seller does not ship to India) and performance racing store quotes 8.5k for the paddock without the bobbins.

        Buddy,

Hang on for a bit - a friend of mine is working on this and we hope to get our first stand ready in a few days. The basic cost with labor should be in the region of about 2500 bucks. Will post some pics as soon as it's ready.

I would recommend fully synth oil only if you are thrashing your bike on the track day in and day out (track spec bike for example). Otherwise its a waste of money... fully syth oil from motul is 800 bucks a liter IIRC.

Just go for semi-synth. It is good enough. I am running my bike with semi synth oil from Motul with no issues.

Hey...keep it within 4K RPM (@6th gear~60 kmph) for the first 800 kms...the next 800 kms under 6K RPM (@6th gear~85 kmph)...then its free to rip apart...small piece of advice...try to use the entire (permissible) range of speeds during the run in...since you stay in Mbai, the run-in in the city traffic will keep u limited on the lower gears/RPMs/speeds...hit the highway (pref NH4) and enjoy the ride...ride safe...hope you have the basic riding gear...& congrats...

+1 to that. ensure that you dont run the bike constantly at one RPM speed... (dont run constantly at 4k rpm). vary the rpm's between 3k and 5k regularly.

After 800 kms you can rev to 6k rpm (~80kmph). Vary the RPM's and occassionally go upto 8k or 9k.

The fitting for bosch H7 is different. Have you checked single filament lamps?

Check with the service center on the make of the bulb and other specs and try sourcing it at local shops. Be cautious of fakes that are sold at these shops though.

I used to have Philips Rallye 130/100w bulbs in my esteem but it used to give up in around 6-8 months. Couldnt find a genuine one so went back to OEM bulbs.

If you are not sure if the bulbs are genuine, dont take a risk and void the warranty. It can prove costlier if some electrical damage occurs due to some malfunction.
