Actually, it's the same. The brand has no relation whatsoever to the type of socket. If it's a H7 bulb it will fit any H7 socket regardless of brand. That's why they have standards, be it H3, H4, H7, etc., so that the different manufacturers conform to a common socket. The only thing to watch out for is the different wattages.Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostThe fitting for bosch H7 is different. Have you checked single filament lamps?

I agree. For a premium bike, in Indian terms, the instrument console is a bit old-school. It's very clear and legible, though. The only thing I can't get over is the lack of a fuel gauge. Not that Ninja owners will be looking to keep an eye on the mileage, but it would be nice to have an idea of the amount of fuel in the tank, especially on long rides where fuel stations are sparse.Originally posted by hotshot.vipin View Postdont you people think that the ninja's instrument cluster looks a bit too old school....

Well i dont feel the need for a fuel guage. My ninja delivers around 25kmpl so i reset the trip meter and occasionally look at the miles clocked. I know how much gas is left in the tank before i need to start hunting for bunks.Originally posted by maraque View PostThe only thing I can't get over is the lack of a fuel gauge. ^^ What you are talking about is a compromise.. i.e. you are adjusting to the lack of a fuel gauge; its not like the gauge is unnecessary.
No complains about the look of the console being old school though
.. This one is a subjective thing. As long as the information is there, its enough.
PS: why are we getting into this old discussion again?

with the competition going to heat up shortly ( mahindra, honda, suzuki etc) ninja also may go in for an upgrage of sorts. fuel gauge, street tyres, softer suspension, softer price is also possible. 1/2 litre ninja launch has been delayed possibly to check what mahindra has in the offing.

Same mileage for me as well. I am also doing the same reset, every time when I fill the tank. But how many KMs a full tank will give, excluding the reserved petrol? This will be handy for a long ride.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostWell i dont feel the need for a fuel guage. Fuel gauge could have been handy. The carburetor version is having the fuel gauge, instead of temperature. But Aditya's method is also fine, as it will show how many KMs left (same purpose done, as a fuel gauge). He just mentioned what he feltOriginally posted by s_and_m View Post^^ What you are talking about is a compromise.. i.e. you are adjusting to the lack of a fuel gauge; its not like the gauge is unnecessary.

and its not a problem that we can't ride with out.
PS. Yeah this has been discussed left and right, when the bike was launching.
I think the upgrades will be done according to the world market and competition. Lets hope that all these will be done in the 2011 version. The Mahindra teaser video is really interesting. Saw silencer on both sides of the bike. A 300+cc twin will be yummy. Also Hyosung (GT650R) and BMW are coming back to India.Originally posted by harikeshpk View Postwith the competition going to heat up shortly ( mahindra, honda, suzuki etc) ninja also may go in for an upgrage of sorts. fuel gauge, street tyres, softer suspension, softer price is also possible. 1/2 litre ninja launch has been delayed possibly to check what mahindra has in the offing.

fuel light comes on when there is 4 litre's of fuel left in the tank, which roughly translates to 100 kms of riding @ 25 kms to a litre if you ride on speeds of 80-100 kmph.
unless you are in northeast / leh / or remote areas in north india, ( for which ninja is not for with the current tyres and suspension ) , you have an 80 % chance of getting to a petrol pump on the highway within 80 kms of riding. this logic translates to a fact that you need not be unduly worried about not having a fuel guage in india and people are good at basic maths.
in any case for long rides i do a short planning for my car , divide the kms to be covered with your car mileage and you get the petrol required for the ride. better not to relay totally on your car fuel guage. so you know how much petrol to put in and as you cover more kms just keep on filling petrol at the first good pump you see as you know how much fuel is in the tank and how much you have to fill in at that point to fill your tank.
in any case i fill the tank at 50% every time on long rides as just dont like to end up with low fuel no pump jitters.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

To safe guard the fuel pump in your bike, it will be better to avoid riding in low fuel. So with rest of the 10 liters of petrol we can ride 250 KMs with an average speed of 80 KMPH. That sounds fine..

launch of mahindra or any other new bike with digital speedo etc will have no effect on the 250R !
The 250R is an import. Trends in indian market cannot bring about any changes on an international bike !
The plastics look dated, the bike is heavy and there are other minor downsides to the ninja 250R ! But thats also because its a budget bike that needs to deliver performance while keeping the costs down. And it does that splendidly !sigpic
when i ride bullet before my bullet was solid condition but i once race with a Ceilo car and my engine size. mechancic say bullet is good bike but no racing. it is good for three people and very powerful.
one day when i become rich i but ducati and then I race with cars. not now.
kamlesh kandaNO PACE TOO SLOW
IF you're at all going to be a respectable rider one day, leave your pride at the "door."

I did not open it myself. The shopkeeper fitted it. It is extremely easy. There is rubber covering back side of the lamps. Just pull out rubber, change bulb, put in rubber. Max. 5 min job.Originally posted by balkumar View PostThanks all for advices

"It's risky." said experience. "It's
pointless." said reason. "Give it a try." whispered the heart ....

picked my Ninja up from Pune on saturday. had an awesome ride back to bbay. great weather in Lonavala/Khandala added to the joy of the ride. Random people riding alongside & having a chat was fun. It really is an attention magnet. The most common question "Kitna deti hai"
However, the break-in restrictions are really painful
almost wondered if the bike was worth it... but then read some of the old posts in this thread and felt relieved with what lies post 1600 kms
also bought the bike cover from Sai Service Pune itself. Paid 380 for it, but dont think its original.... doesnt say Ninja or Kawasaki anywhere... is that so for the cover?
Really felt the need for saddle bags on this trip itself. With the back problem that i anyways have, this will be definitely worthwhile. If you are not afraid, you have probably chosen too easy a mountain to climb!!

The chain should be lubed every 600 kms or as needed. If the chain appears dry then get it lubed as soon as you can. If there is a lot of dirt and muck, clean it and then apply the lube.Originally posted by rajpadia View Postthen he applied the oil (dunno if its the correct oil grade cause the manual sez SAE 90 )the way he applied was also diff cause he cupped his palms n asked me to pour the oil in it n then he made the chain go thru it while i rotated the tyre again completely opposite to what the manual says thats opposite of reverse !! hope i got it done properly ....any comments /advice ?
You can buy Motul Chain Clean and Chain lube. Both are available in aerosol cans and are pretty good. I dont think the oil will stick to the chain for too long and you'll mostly end up with a dirty chain, wheel as the oil will get sprayed due to centrifugal forces. If its as thick as grease you have to worry lesser.

its okay. the main point that the excess oil to be wiped out from the chain so that oil dont get to rear disk etc etc during the ride. SAE 90 lube applied properly ( see the manual )may lubricate the chain better than the fuss free spray can lube.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water
