The fairing will get replaced. A repair/touch-up job will result in a poor finish. Crashed two months back and suffered similar damage. Bill of approx 38K, paid 13K and insurance covered the rest.

Replaced right fairing, front cowl, silencers chrome ring tip and the chrome bit at the base of the silencer(don't know what its called) and right front indicator. In my case also changed the T-stem and right handlebar ( slightly bent) so your bill should be lower.

I left the scratches on my brake lever, rear brake lever and minor scratch on my mirror as 'dishti' !!
I got it repaired for my bike, which included
    1. repair scratches on right and front fairing
    2. remove dent on tank
    3. rechroming of top and bottom end of exhaust
    4. repair scratches on exhaust
    5. repair crack running from front to rear on my green tail cover

It costed me Rs. 8500. I got it done by KRP, Delhi. I did not claim insurance as I would have ended up paying more. They had done a great repair job. Loved their work on Tail cover and Exhaust chromes. Even if someone closely examines, then also, they won't be able to make out the repair work. These guys do repair work on Superbikes like R1, Fireblade, etc. Even if pieces are missing from fairing, then also they could mould it out.

Only problem is, I think, you are in Hyderabad and these guys are in Delhi.

It is normal in Kerala due to high humidity.

For an example, my pulsar silencer was full of rust before bringing it from Kerala to Bangalore. Now it's completely gone!!!!!

I'm surprised that the insurance had covered this much for your N250.

                  Is it Oriental insurance?

PBK quotes on crashed Ninja's are way over the top. The rule they follow is: Even if they see a small scratch after the crash on the big fairing, they will put the cost of the entire plastic on the estimate.

4+ lakhs is abnormally high. Maybe that is for a totalled bike since the sum of parts will be higher than the assembled deal. There are a lot of Ninja's coming in after crashes - hope this does not change the insurance rules in India, like how it is in other countries. This also goes to prove that these bikes are way too fast for India. And dangerous in hands of unskilled riders and young kids who get the Ninja as their 1st and 2nd bike.

Had done a transfer of my bike (the bullet, not the NInja) throught GATI (there are others around but found these guys to be good) from Guwahati to Pune early this year and it came to around 3800 bucks excl packing. THe guys charge on a per weight basis and they charged me around 15 Re/Kg. This varies in into/from the region you are shipping. The same bike was send to Kerala on a 11 Re/Kg basis (bcos they thought I was an Army guy ) !!

So the dent on your wallet should be roughly in the region of 3K to 5K!!

                          Here is a break up
                          Freight = Bike wt * Charges/km
                          ROV charge = 200 bucks
                          Basic Charge = 175
                          Diesel Charge = 17.5% freight
Service Tax =12.5% of the total of above.

Quote the lowest weight as possible . There should be a weight on your RC book, should be the dry weight which could save u some money

My experience with GATI has been good. No problems in three transfers in the last year (except for a delay once). But make sure your bike is packed extremely well in bubble packing with hard card board over the bubbles. If ur a little apprehensive about the plastics, take off ur rear view mirrors, fairings and indicators and even the lamps and carry it with you when u fly.

Believe these guys dont offer insurance on their cargos and its the shippers risk. If you are concerned contact a bank for additional insurance on your cargo or ask these guys about the insurance. I didnt ask for the same bcos (it was a bullet!) Since your company would be paying, take the excess insurance. Take clear photos of your bike before just before you ship which would come in handy if something might happen to it in shipping. When you recieve the bike check thoroughly for damages and get it signed off (if there are any damages) by them if you want to claim insurance.

                          Hope this helps you.

Completely agree to the above... In fact, the Ninja that crashed in Kerala was rode by a 17yrs old kid. He actually crashed the bike quite near to the PBK showroom...

                              Welcome to Kolkata(in advance )

I transported My bike(Apache) from Siliguri to Kolkata, not through any courier though

but as your bike is a fully faired Bike
I guess you should remove the fairing before transporting it.Cause even when my bike was totally covered,it still got some scratches.

try good and reputed movers and packers like Agarwal Movers and Packers. They cover the cost of any damage done to the vehicle during transit. If possible click pictures before they start packing.
