Please find my NH07 ride details here...Originally posted by harikeshpk View PostOn the forum there has been many posts on how the ninja goes at 140 kmph to 150 etc etc. But shooting a couple of times at about 140 I have a different view point. I feel very comfortable and sort of relaxed when she is between 80 to 100 kmph. Above 100 to 120 kph I am comfortable but not relaxed. Above that I am confused. This is when I am riding on the Chennai Bangalore super highway. Having ridden this road at least once a week for the last 3 years in my car. This high way is unsafe for speeds above 100 kph. The way things appear on the road beats even a seasoned magician. Cows , goats, dogs, buffaloes you name it it appears out of no where. In addition bikes / cycles appear any where as people has made suitable cut in the centre median to cross. I have also realized that people are very casual about bike’s when crossing the road. They are used to a bikes slow speed , that they are least bothered about a high speed ninja approaching. All your horn lights are of limited use and many take extra effort come into the road to signal that your Headlight is switched on.
I could confidentially pull her out of a wrongly executed left turn at 80 kms half way by applying brakes and I loved the grip and the brakes response on pulling out. So I feel a confident speed on the ninja on a semi populated highway would be a 80 to 100 kmph, with some occasional bursts of 120 in some areas.
Please feel free to tell that I am wrong. Any one taken this highway kindly share their views.

Yup, I did notice it. I was referring to my highway experience since you were discussing on it.Originally posted by harikeshpk View Postplease note the write up is on speeds on the super highway from chennai to bangalore more particularly from chennai till krishnagiri.

4 Ninjas will be doing the Chennai-Krishnagiri route this weekend enroute to Salem and beyond. Will comment in-depth after the ride!
But I do tend to agree though my numbers are a little different -
. I'm comfortable cruising or going hell for leather - but it depends entirely on the road/riding/light conditions at that given time. Fortunately there are a few stretches of road on the ECR in Chennai where one can see open road for a few kms at a time and also on either side of the road for about 100m on each side, so anticipating all kinds of trouble both two legged and four is possible.
In general though Harikesh's observation of all kinds of potential disasters appearing out of nowhere on our Indian roads are unfortunately a sad fact of life.
@ Harikesh - PM me if you'd like to tag along for a stretch! Or even if you'd like to join in for the ride!

The alignment was slightly off.. I did not see any issues with handling, but its better to have these things perfectly aligned.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostDid you notice any difference in the way the bike handled or behaved with the swingarm alignment being off marginally?
How much did you pay for the third service? Is it a complete thorough check or just a fluid top up, wash, check brakes sorta thing?
I am facing vibrations in my handle bars and the vibes are very evident on the right clip-on compared to the left. Have to get it sorted out soon. My right arm feels numb within a short span of riding.
Paid around 5k for the servicing as I didn't have to pay for the Engine Oil (Got Motul). This is a complete service and they take the whole day to do it.
Not sure whats causing those vibes, could be some alignment issue with the front wheel.sigpicI feel like Clark Kent on the streets riding the Pulsar, On the track.. with my Ninja.. I feel like Superman.

An unlucky day to start with...
Today morning , i dropped my bike
...
IT so happened that , i was trying to lock the steering of the bike in the parking... but it was showing some issues... i sat back on the bike ... removed the side stand and readjusted the steering again... was able to lock it this time....
jus got off the bike and i forgot that i had removed the side stand... jus left the bike like that... and i saw it dropping in front of me
....
By the time ... i realized ... the left indicator was broken and few more scratches...
Really feeling sad for the blunder i did today morning...
Called up prasanna thereafter... asked for the spare ... he said he will check and let me know...
changing on some parts as of now is likely to be not an issue as i got my salary yesterday... but what i am really worried about is the scratches..
lets see how things turnup and if the PBK can do something about it.RIP Marco

@harikeshpk: You are right about the speed being based on the nature of the highway, for a 1+1 lane highway with no barricades, the speed should be less.
Contrastingly, do try out the Bangalore-Hyderabad stretch, I'm sure you will stop feeling uncomfortable at 120!
@vkuchhal: A very common thing with all bikers. Most of the posts in the biking bloopers thread also are of the same!
Take it easy, I believe every bike has to have atleast one fall, and yours is done with it. Same was the case with my R15-some curious fellow tipped it over in my building parking when it was very new&standing on the paddock stand!
Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Reg: Bajaj DTS-i engine oil for Ninja
Hi Guys,
Couple of days back, i had given my Ninja for Engine Oil & Oil filter change. They had put Bajaj DTS-i oil in my bike.
After this change, i can definitely feel that the engine is slightly more rough & there are more vibes (thru the seat, handle bars etc.,). Has anybody felt the same way ?
My bike has done 3900 Kms so far & I'm in-between the 1st (@ 1000Kms) & 2nd Service.2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R

I agree that comfort at a particular speed is directly proportional to the safety of the roads and the stability and safety of the bike. What you are talking about is one aspect i.e. the safety of the road scenario and what perhaps other people have been talking about is the stability and safety which the bike has to offer.
At any given day the road conditions in India are still not up to the mark as compared to some of the better roads in developed countries which is absolutely the point you made and I agree. On the other side given any bike manufactured in India the ninja still gives you greater confidence riding at high speeds (not that I know of any other Indian bikes which go to 140 kmph but still
) given the same road conditions. We do not have to worry about cross winds, high speed braking unstability etc.
Usually even I am confortable at speeds of 80-110 and when I take it to 140+ I am very conscious of the speed and am on the constant lookout for UFOs ...
but if I forget the risk of someone suddenly coming out in front of me the bike gives me plenty of confidence for the other factors to be considered for high speed riding ..

Are you sure that it's semi-synthetic oil? I think it's normal mineral oil...Originally posted by jd666 View Post^^ yup, they use semi synth oil, thats used in the 220. You can get it changed to a good synthetic oil of your choice, just take the oil with you. ( like motul )
I'm thinking of changing to Motul 300v fully synthetic oil at the time of 2nd service @6000 kms.2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R

yes, the oil used by pbk is mineral oil and it is recommended to use non synthetic oil for atleast the first 8000-10000 kms because the piston rings are still setting in and synthetic oils are too smooth and hamper the process. Synthetic oils are needed if you are using your bike on a track and running it hard.Originally posted by senthildsk View PostAre you sure that it's semi-synthetic oil? For normal usage I will recommend switch to semi synthetic after 10k kms. Hope this helps.
