@Bluevolt: I seriously doubt clogging of the injectors, there is a fuel filter which in general does a great job of keeping gunk from getting into the injectors.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostYou are welcome, my friend! Let the DIY culture spread!
Talking of updates on my bike, the engineers from probiking made a house call to check what was wrong with my bike. After spending a few hours, they narrowed it down to a throttle assembly malfunction, so they went back to the station and got a back-up assembly which they fitted into my Ninja and the engine finally started!
They took the bike to the service station where they will run further test and will also replace the parts.
The bike did not start in the morning after getting a full tank the night before so perhaps it has something to do with the fuel quality? Like clogged injectors or fuel filter? The pores in the injectors are really really tiny, so even a small speck can cause a malfunction.
Let see what the final report is in a few days!
Most likely it is an electrical gremlin, but like you said, the report will be out in a few days

Maybe the eletronic connectors which is connected to the injectors went kaput? I had a close look at the throttle assy, and did not find anything wrong visually. Let's see!Originally posted by rossiter View Post@Bluevolt: I seriously doubt clogging of the injectors, there is a fuel filter which in general does a great job of keeping gunk from getting into the injectors.

And it is good that this problem happened because when they opened up the throttle assy, we found that the throttle (open) cable was frayed 70% and could have snapped any time. Now I knew why I had these mini-surges in the last few weeks, like the throttle was slipping a bit. But luckily I had a spare set of Ninja cables lying around in my house so I got the damaged cable replaced with the new one.

I am sorry. Can you explain in a little more detail what you mean by "throttle was slipping"? I want to ensure I dont see something like that either.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostMaybe the eletronic connectors which is connected to the injectors went kaput? Maybe not the correct phrase, but you know the feeling when you turn the throttle, see the needle go upto 8000 rpm and then suddenly the bike jerks slightly and the needle drops a few notches below.Originally posted by Hyperion View PostI am sorry. What happens is this: The open throttle cable is connected to the throttle assy beneath the seat and it activates a spring loaded mechanism which opens the valves in the throttle assembly to let the air in. When the throttle is loose, it has some extra 'play' which is results in the thing which I cause 'slippage',

Would you have a spare Ninja lying somewhere around your house?Originally posted by bluevolt View PostBut luckily I had a spare set of Ninja cables lying around in my house so I got the damaged cable replaced with the new one.

You're partially right - I do have the front headlight cowl, two side fairings, two black tail covers lying at my place, all in black. All I am missing is the tank, and then I will indeed have a spare black Ninja!Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostWould you have a spare Ninja lying somewhere around your house?

And here I was wondering what to do if I crashed/dropped my bike again, since PBK takes about two weeks to get the parts!!
Next time, I'll take my Blackie to BlueVolt BK!!
Go the whole hog buddy and pick up the tank too - then you can have a Green OR a Black depending on your mood!

Thanks dude. Read a lot of reviews and i was shocked to read the horror stories.Originally posted by motormania View Post@Aditya, Stay away from the Lombard trap. Bloody goons in uniform there. Loads of people will testify against them. Give Reliance n I-T a try.
Bye Bye Lombard.
I'll shop around a lil more and if no better deal comes up I'll renew with Oriental itself.
HDFC Ergo is charging the least premium, of course the IDV is also the lowest across other providers

My friend had a really bad experience with Oriental here. His bike got stolen and the hassles that he had to go through made us furious, ultimately had to pay the inspector some bribe to get the insurance money. None of the company officials helped. Dont know the scenario in bangalore though. Choosing insurance is one herculian task i must say.
