    What is a high side?

A high side is something that occurs when you are trying to overtake another speeding rider on a turn and you see an open space and you lunge on the throttle. What happens next is your rear looses traction and it starts to wobble. You then try to correct it, but only try. Before you know anything the bike throws you off and you land on your head.

    Where can this occur?

    On a Race track.

    What saves your A$$?

A nice set of leathers, gloves, boots and of course your helmet.

To whom this has occurred recently?

    Me

The good part is that I am fine and I was riding a R15 at the Yamaha Riding Clinic and not the Ninja, otherwise I would've had a big hole in my pocket.
sigpicI feel like Clark Kent on the streets riding the Pulsar, On the track.. with my Ninja.. I feel like Superman.

I am learning how to skateboard these days and I am into highsides, lowsides and middle sides - glad that I go as geared up for SB as I go for my rides!

Happy to know you've come out of it nary a scratch.

I thought this can only happen when the rear wheel spins faster than the front (when you whack the throttle open while leaning). Loss of traction and immediate regain of traction makes the bike upright in an instant and throws the rider off violently.

Glad to read that you are fine.

Nope! S1 helmet, Protec wrist, elbow and knee guard. Dainese internal padded impact shorts. Have more than proved their worth - banged the back of my head last weekend, glad my helmet was there to save!

So what are you testing ? your body parts, or the protective gear parts ?...seriously... take care friend... skate boards and roller blades are as dangerous as the bike.....though speed thrills it can also cause a lot of harm,as you might be aware...you are still the only person to have photographed your own crash...
                  Ride safe, ..

                      • Today was another usual superbike sunday.... I reached a bit early today, around 6:15.There was a pretty large crowd out there and everyone was waiting for the bikes (I was pretty surprised to that so many people actually ruined their cozy sunday morning sleep to see some some superbikes)

Nearing the pump, I saw one my friends approaching me and he told me "bhai teri dream bike samne khadi hai"(your dream bike is over there).. And there it was...a beautiful green assasin and this one even had an akrapovic can....

I asked the owner that had he finished the run-in (although i could have seen it myself and eventually i did) and he was like 'sorry i am not getting you' . And then i said the part when you are supposed to restrict it to 4k rpm and his reply was that normally every time he takes it all the way to 10k !!!! I was like "oh" and my mind was like "OMFG!!!!!".....I was wondering how did that bike survive when it was pushed to 10k form the very beginning..... It would have definitely been an overstressed engine wouldn't it guys????

And then although i didn't see GODS today (thanks to the rain which strikes precisely on sunday at 6:30 am ) i saw some other group. 10 sbks out of which one was a classic honda xrv 750 africa twin. I was really happy to see that one.....
