I first bought the cover sold by PBK for 900 odd bucks marked with 'Kawasaki Ninja' on the outside. The label said it was made of Dupont Tyvek. Seemed to be reasonably good quality and served the purpose well - for about 6 months. By then the fabric wore thin at the mirrors and they soon poked through. Though I continued to use the cover for another few months, holes and all, the fabric seemed to deteriorate finally having the strength of paper.

I have replaced it with a cover from Rjays which I bought from Bachoo Motors for Rs.1875/-. Seems much better quality and designed to be more durable, though I can really only say with authority after some more time.

Is this cover heat resistant... can we use it , when the bike muffler is hot..

      • The waiting period for Ninja(green) is now 2 months , had almost decided to go for it but 2 months is just too much. They are telling this is due to the earthquake in Japan.
I guess the sudden rise in demand is also due to the fact that many people were waiting for the CBR 250R to come out before deciding out which bike to go for.

I've been using Rjays cover for my ninja for the past 8 months....It's damn good...

It's quite heavy, so doesn't get blown around by gusts of wind. Also made out of soft fabric inside, so doesn't scratch the bike.

And finally...it doesn't get affected by engine heat.

I'm not sure that you should cover a hot engine and muffler with a cover - even if the cover could take it. I always let the bike cool off for between 30 mins to one hour before covering it.

I'm thinking of ordering this sometime in the future. Would i also need this? Is the flasher relay mandatory or is it just going to blink the tail lights rapidly when the brakes are applied to attract attention from vehicles behind before the light goes solid?

They do accept paypal, and i got the delivery in 11 days. The flasher that you have put in your question is a different one. The integrated tail light would use the original relay (for indicators) and mostly the rate of flashing of indicators (on/off) would be greater than the original one's. Thus, if you want the indicators to flash as they do in most vehicles, you need this flasher.

When I ordered my light, I did not knew this and thus I did not order the flasher relay. Now, they will take AUD 30 as delivery charges. Thus, I can live with my indicators flashing at an increasing rate than normal.

I have not yet installed the light, as I am still waiting for the gear indicator to arrive and then I will take them to BAJAJ PBK, get the bike serviced and get these parts installed too.

              Hope that clarifies?

              • I'm having a lovely time with the bike... cant wait to get over 1600kms!! I am just disappointed that i scraped the lowest point of the bike (the rear suspension mount) once over a speedbreaker with a pillion..

Please make sure that you are not putting too much pressure on the engine with a pillion. The max. allowed weight is 170 Kgs. (refer manual).

I just wanted to ask the experienced owners this one thing:

lets suppose i am going in 6th gear at about 50kmph, and i have to brake suddenly for a pothole or something.. and i dont use the clutch the gearbox automatically downshifts a couple of gears so that i can pretty much effortlessly resume throttling again..

Brother, it must be something else. This cannot happen in this bike because it does not have automatic gears (like a scooty for eg.). So you must downshift (whenever possible) while braking, else you will put unnecessary pressure on the engine.

The owners manual although very explanatory doesnt really throw much light on this point.. it just says: "for emergency braking disregard downshifting and concentrate on applying the brakes as hard as possible without skidding"

can you guys please tell me what exactly is incorporated in the gearbox to do that.. and i also wanted to know whether all bigger superbikes too have this feature?[/QUOTE]

None; if they have automatic gears, then it is a different story. But in that case there is no manual clutch. Plus I do not think that there is a bike available with both automatic & manual gears and the rider can choose between them.

                    Thanks mate!

Let me first get these LED's installed, then I will think about relays.

My friend you will need electronic relay (12V 25A) for the led lights to flash. The stock is thermal flasher which won't take the load of LEDs.
Also you will have to change the fuse to 20A
Electronic flasher is available in locally in bike spareparts store. There are different types which varies in frequency of blinking e.g strobe.

Also if you are going to use LEDs for front too then, you will have to put diodes in the circuits.

honda sells a bike known as the vfr1200 (also sold in india). its got manual and automatic transmission. its equipped with a dual clutch technology that does the work automatically without the rider having to use the clutch lever every time (and it doesn't have a clutch lever)...

the ninja definitely does not have this feature...but I wish it did

I was looking for cover which is heat resistant at the muffler, so that as soon as i park in , i can cover my bike..

As of now only option left is Oxford rainex or aquatex.

                            • Bro

                              I have Oxford Stormex.

This has heat resistant inner lining.
The inner lining is a kind of soft fab which prevents from scratching the fairing too.

                              It is an excellent cover.
                              Cost was 7000RS

Rjays covers come in L and XL sizes. Which size should fit Ninja? Which size cover are you using Senthil?
