Well, GF cant hug you every time in front of hungry public. just kidding. It is still India.

However, I would like some more owners to express the pillion rider experience. I am nastily bothered about this. Both my CBR booking and Ninja's are on. CBR- C-ABS has arrived while Ninja would take more 20 days. I do not mind waiting for more 20 days but one should be happy enough for the dimes spent on machines like this.

I hope you brothers understand me

      • ^^ The seating position for pillion is sporty in the N250, saw an organ donor on the N250 yest night and was RIPPING, the chick had to hold his back, so thats bit of a hassle, but if you drive comfortably(calmly) I don't think there would be a trouble, other N250 owners please comment
The only thing standing in your way, the ONLY thing you can count on, at any given time.. Is YOU

My friends have complaint me of sore back after a ride of 1 hour or so. The pillion is sitting way above the rider, nothing to grab for support and that too on small area of contact and that too on a not so comfy seat, so long rides may be a problem for a pillion.
As mentioned by Hyperion, GF can accommodate on for a long as she is hugging you for support but she may have problems if the ride is continuous for hours as she needs to bend forward enough to hug you.

I sat pillion on a ninja during our Coorg trip and i wouldn't sit on the pillion seat again. The seat is so hard and uncomfortably painful that i could feel the pain in my ass cheeks even the next day.

But the rider was clocking 140+kmph on open stretches so it was not a problem for the bike or the rider since both weren't complaining... i was howling though. After a short while i was sitting on my hands while on the pillion seat.

Please elaborate on the bold part.

I'm surprised the girl didn't complain. Try asking her to join for a ride again.

P.S. pun intended. Please dont take offense.

Now this is more candid review in fact. Thanks Adi. You had to sit on your hands???? ROFL
"I'm surprised the girl didn't complain": I guess the girl must have thought this is what one gets to feel when ridden on a powerful bike like Ninja.

Inputs are still welcome on this pillion matter.

              • Once I rode pillion on my own bike from Pune to Chakan. One of the smoothest riders from pune, Niranjanvaidya was riding the bike but I was so scared because there was nothing to hold on to. Every time he even slightly opened throttle, I thought I would be falling back. Couple of times, my both legs left footpegs. Only because he was very smooth in braking and accelerating, we could reach the destination in one piece.

Pillion for a city ride is absolutely doable. Pillion for a highway blast is a big No No.

One qualifier though : I rode back from Lonavala with a fellow xBhpian some months back. He wanted to ride pillion on Ninja. But he was sitting so comfortably, I touched 140 couple of times but then backed off to 100-120. However, each time, his helmet was hitting mine.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Yeah man. I actually was sitting on my hands. No kidding.

Plus the pillion has nothing to hold on to so you have to hug the rider tightly when on a high speed run on the highways. Also helps to press your knees against the riders waist so you dont slip off the seat upon hard acceleration or braking.

I generally ride without a pillion, yesterday also someone asked me for a lift... I politely denied it.. I am not that much comfortable with a pillion... I generally rip from 1st gear.... so the chances of pillion falling back down increases...

Do all Ninja owners enjoy the ride without a GF? For bikes like these, its more or less meager if the GF is not roped in with your riding experience. I am kind of worried now about the pillion rider experience.

Do not have a GF ... so... "life sahi hai , tension nahi hai.. (life is cool , no tension) ..

Throwing some inputs would be highly appreciated.

My wife is my frequent pillion and she loves it! Short blasts, even with two up to 140 kmph is easy and perfectly do-able on open stretches but clunking of helmets is frequent. She is quite tall - 5'8" and can see clearly over my head from the stepped rear seat but quick downshifts and braking will inevitably lead to a familiar 'clunk'.

Of course quick acceleration would have her toppling off - but she sits in the classic arms around-the-rider-palms-on-the-tank stance for sprints and that actually works really well.

Good for the wife or girlfriend but ixnay for a guy on pillion!

Long hauls (100km+) are not comfortable though in her opinion and she only wants to do shorter rides.

@ Aditya - I remember that you were walking around bow-legged for a couple of days after that Coorg ride!

                      • I just did a 800km round trip (includes getting lost in salem ) to coimbatore last weekend.

My ass is so sore i think spending 10k on a gel seat should be worth every paisa!!!

However, loved touching 160kmph on some very beautiful roads.

                        • Very interesting topic started here. A few months ago one of my friends took me for a ride on his cbr600. That was the first time I sat on a superbike (and that too on the pillion seat), so I was pretty clueless on how to sit. He directed me to firmly grip my hands on the grooves of the tank. I felt that I was able grip pretty strongly. He slowly moved onto the road and he gave a whisk of throttle and being a 600cc supersports bike the acceleration was very sudden and at one instance I had to really push myself forward otherwise I felt there was a good chance that I would have fallen down. But after some 10-15 odd seconds I was able to hold on pretty easily and I bet that day we touched 180 for sure...The cbr also has raised split seats so I suppose this technique should work for the ninja.
